  1. Basically the only thing I can see stopping this CRL creation is the members build. Books can't be used alone and neither can action figures, but combined we have a story. Lack of references is the number one thing that stops a CRL dead in it's tracks, number 2 is not having a completed costume and all the images required to build a complete CRL. The descriptions for Cardinal are are easy enough as I have mentioned previously, so anyone who wants to be the CRL model and work with us on creating the CRL should be on the train. LMO's are well aware of this character and the available resources, but nothing happens until we have a costume complete.
  2. Due to the time of year this has happened, I think the family need some space to grieve first. Because Terrell was a retired member I am not sure if his home garrison has looked into anything as yet. What I can tell you is I already have the support of other Detachments if we move forward to make something happen to help the family. I know there are a a lot of troopers out their that would love to give back for the horrific situation, so I will keep everyone informed
  3. I haven't heard anything from the LMO's For some reason I thought the hold up was the boots or lack of references for how they looked, but I also thought that info was communicated between the LMO's and the member building the costume. As it stands, without the full set of images of a finished costume from the builder, we can't flesh out a CRL to submit for peer review. It is both the language and the imagery the LMO team require to base their final decision, or any amendments we (builder and Detachment) may need to make to get it across the line. The written part is the easy bit, we base it off the FOTK and adjust the embellishments for Cardinal.
  4. Greetings one and all It is that time of year where we all hope to spend quality time with our families friends and loved ones. On behalf of the staff of this mighty detachment, we wish you all a happy, safe and prosperous holiday season. Thank you to everyone that has contributed towards making FISD one of, if not the best, friendliest, and welcoming department in the Legion. Take care everyone With unquestioned loyalty and much love TK11469
  5. Congratulations C, welcome to Expert Infantry.
  6. Just make sure you reinforce the end where the pic rail attaches with the bolt. Looks like you might have removed a little extra material down the length of the forearm. but that is easy to fix. On the screen used assets, the rail and end box pivoted away to gain zipper access and I dont think a resin made pic rail would be durable enough in dealing with that kind of motion. Parts from the original costumes were injection and pressure molded with very durable and quite flexible plastics as a comparison. It's awesome that you are aiming for those kind of details, even better if you can make it work like the actual product. Nice work, keep it up. In the images below you can see the fixing bolt in comparison to top the end of the forearm. It also shows a degree of flex in the pic rail as it swoops up to and attaches under the front box. This would be an indicator that the material used is both flexible and durable t sustain sideways motion gaining access to the obscured zipper beneath. 7. Congratulations Ben, welcome to Legion and FISD as an approved member. next step if you haven't already is to apply for 501st access once your legion account is updated. This will give you more access on the forums.
  8. Wow man, that looks amazing!
  9. Great progress Andrew
  10. Glen is 100% correct. The archives are for out of date, missing imagery and incomplete posts. That area is not visible to most members, but literally a holding area for the fore mentioned. As we are not in the practice of deleting it is the best way to attempt to keep such a vast forum a little cleaner. Other things that can limit access to a small degree is your minimum number of posts (5) Once over the 5 which we use as a Bot or spam check I believe, you gain a touch more viability.
  11. I would be happy to consider that as two separate builds even though you can only be awarded EI once for the same costume. It was two different kits, so we did follow the process correctly on the second. That is a win for you Justin.
  12. I certainly hope you get your purchase brother, in fact I really hope everyone gets what they are owed, more than anything.
  13. Good to see you are still working away on this build, also cool that you have lost more weight. That generally takes a bit of work in itself.
  14. I will be excited when I see the post coming in by our members, stating their purchases have been shipped. Then and only then will I will feel a glimmer of hope that this company is heading in the right direction.
  15. Always good to see the occasional necro post. Trust me when I say both gmrhodes13 and myself have seen more than our fair share whilst trying to clean up the forums over the last 2 years lol.
  16. Hi Joshua, and welcome to FISD. Unfortunately the Honorary membership program is for the actors, producers, directors and others involved in the movies and TV series of Star Wars and not everyday members. The only way to join the 501st is through your local garrison, first as a cadet, as the only limitation is members must be 18 years of age and up. You are a cadet until you can build a costume that meets the requirements of the CRL and become fully approved. This gives you the opportunity to learn how to wrangle (be the eyes and ears of those in costume) yeah visibility is limited and some costumes can be restrictive in movement and uncomfortable. Many do join and start with a less expensive costume like an Imperial officer costume. Still not without reasonable cost, but it is cheaper than a full accurate First order or even original trilogy Stormtrooper outfit. The 501st is the definitive Star Wars costuming group, and with that comes a reasonably high standard in costume detail. It is why we are known as the best, and why Disney Lucas Film call on our members to represent them at events and even star as extras in film and TV shows. It's the fine details we take pride in and why Halloween style costumes don't make the grade. I wish you well in your journey joining the 501st, it isn't a cheap hobby in general, but you have some more affordable options through different costume choices.
  17. So far, they seem to have plenty of post in their FB account but i feel they are cagey about letting on who they are. They claim to have been at conventions since 2003, but any cos player could claim the same. I am know waiting on feedback from any that have assembled one of their models to get a clearer evaluation.
  18. I shall ask around locally for you, we have several very good 3d designers in Aus, some do print and ship as kits, other simply supply the files at a fee.
  19. Oh yeah, you are wearing the slippers for sure Every one of Glens costumes are amazing.
  20. Thank you Nathan for your words, and welcome back to FISD. We are all feeling the loss, and I know exactly what you mean about how he made people feel. There is no doubt he will be very missed by many, but one thing is for certain, he will never be forgotten, not here, not ever.
  21. I can't believe I missed this!! My apologies Glen, congratulations on yet another outstanding costume and successful EI approval. I guess my focus was on getting the EI badge rectified at the time, and I neglected to chime in on the thread.
  22. B E A utiful!!!!
  23. Congratulations Ardeshir, as always, you look totally amazing!
  24. Congratulations Adam, and welcome to centurion rank
