  1. This is a good question and the answer is yes. Generally if you are building with centurion in mind or the aim, it is a little more cost and time effective. You won't have to disassemble any of your armour to add in the extra bits and pieces, and it really doesn't cost much more to do it either. You still need to have the 3 approvals done. Basic, then Expert infantry and of course finally Centurion, but the costume can have all the required upper level extras from the outset. Having the two higher levels also opens up access to exclusive merch and forum banners to those to put the effort in to achieve them. Looking forward to seeing your build thread and watching your journey to Centurion, it's well worth it.
  2. It's hard when you spend a lot of time trying to make something work and then having to let it go. I am glad that you are still keen to create this costume, and I'm sure you will find the ABS main armour will be more durable, plus a lot less effort to assemble and ultimately maintain. Keep us posted Lando.
  3. Welcome Yonatan, This hobby is expensive when you get it right, even worse if you get it wrong so the advice above is very important. This group is founded on research and 1000's of members putting in time searching, questioning and learning from each other. Take that experience and leverage it as much as possible. We are here to help in every way we can and get you to the finish line.
  4. This is an awesome photo, great work. Regardless of lore or not, that prod looks very cool too.
  5. Looking good.
  6. Congratulations and welcome aboard Andreas!
  7. Blasters are not a requirement for basic level legion approval, so that won't affect your application and approval process. Higher levels of approval which we control, hence Expert Infantry and Centurion level is where Blaster accuracy kicks in. There isn't anything wrong with the SDS aside the fact they have the curly wires connecting the shot counter to the power cylinders on the magazine. From memory, they were seen on a Promotion suit, not really a standard in the film. The below thread is a compilation of work from a group of our members who focussed solely on creating an ultimate reference guide for the E-11. Lots of great info within the thread. About the saying "Legion approved" This tends more towards the costume as I mentioned above, blasters are not a prerequisite for Legion membership. No costume is essentially out of the box legion approved, sure it can have all the right components, but it needs to fit the wearer and look correct (the full package) so to speak. Always ignore the statement "Legion approved" for any costumes and accessory, ask questions about the item/s, do some research and most certainly as you have, ask questions here so we can assist you In saying all this, the Blaster Factory metal/aluminium Blaster are fantastic, durable, and most probably heavier than some of the plastic and resin E-11's out there. It's also fun to detail your blaster yourself, you will learn some new skills and make your journey even more enjoyable.
  8. Hi Tom, and thank you for the detailed photos. I'll check something with you first. The ear bars, are they painted grey? Due to the lighting in the photo they look black so just wanted to confirm they are the same colour as the frown (painted Teeth) Probably the first thing that I notice is your holster straps are not ANH style, they are RotJ so not suiting the movie the rest of your costumes construction is based towards. This is an easy fix without having to buy another holster as it is just modifying the straps and re attaching them with Chicago screws, which will allow you to remove it from the belt if you ever need to. ANH Straps show the other side of the leather are short not loops and for basic approval can be black or tan in colour. Check out any of the ANH Stunt build threads from the last couple of years so you can see what I am talking about and how others have achieved theirs https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/80-anh-build-threads/ You can also check out the ANH gallery for screen references and images of screen used suits. There are a couple of minor dressing issues you can also adjust to look like that just stepped off the set look. Even your thigh heights up as one sits a little lower than the other in your images, probably just a strap length adjustment and it's done. Your backplate has quite an overlap of the kidney plate and technically should sit on top of it. Again I think this is a simple shoulder strap adjustment that will bring it up higher and get closer to the desired look. Hope this helps
  9. Welcome Tom, we are here to assist you in every way possible. Take a look at the gallery section as we have broken it up into the specific armour found in each movie. You can also check out build threads on your specific brand of armour for more ideas. Looking forward to seeing some photos of your armour so we can give the best advice on getting you approved and out there trooping.
  10. Welcome Henry, great to see another Aussie looking to join the ranks. This hobby requires a reasonable amount of research, that's for sure, but we are here to guide you through all of that. New era TK armour is excellent, the one limitation is what is currently available as kit form, but that is destined to change in the very near future. Another thing to be mindful of, this hobby ain't necessarily cheap. Options for R1 New gen armour currently are as follows. 3D print files. These have varying degrees of accuracy/inaccuracy, and need tweaking to be closer, much like the R1 Black series helmet. Hard armour in kit form, there is fibre glass, and ABS and resin pieces for sharpness combo kit There will be an Aussie kit available, but I don't have a time frame on that as yet. Once you have made 5 forum posts, you will gain more access to other sections where you will find build threads, armour makers etc. Lastly, the 501st have a library of costumes called CRL's (Costume Reference Library), these are the guidelines to assisting you in achieving basic approval. Yes the 501st has standards, more so than other costuming groups, but these set us apart and keep the legion as the premier costuming organisation around the globe. Here are some helpful links https://crls.501st.com/fisd Good luck in your journey, and remember this one simple rule, there is no such thing as a stupid question.
  11. Hi Chad, you are best off starting your own thread rather than the info getting lost in someone else's.
  12. The server can only hold a small amount of images due to the sheer voloume of members. You need to use a share service like IMGUR or Flicker, to be able to share unlimited images.
  13. Hi kaleb, As you are quickly realising, this hobby requires a lot of research. Luky for all new members, this is now a lot easier then when I and many much older members started. Now days, you only need ask a question and we will point you in the right direction. This resource (FISD) is massive and can be very overwhelming, but rest assured, there is no such thing as a stupid question, so keep asking for what you dont understand, keep looking at the threads you are directed to and the advice given. This is a long journey we have all taken, and you won't regret it. lots of fun, a great community, and we do a lot of good out there in the wide world. Welcome to FISD and I hope you love this new adventure as much as we all did when we started down this path.
  14. You need to make 5 posts and your access will change slightly. Welcome to FISD.
  15. Mark from CFO (Cast from original) he is your goto man for that. You will find information in the post link below under RotJ, just scroll down the list until you find the heading. Glad you made it over here, as we are the biggest resource for all things TK related.
  16. Good to see you back and working on your TK again Chris.
  17. I use a suitcase to pack my armour and blaster in, the helmet goes in a separate helmet bag
  18. Welcome to FISD Grant.
  19. Looking good Andreas, best of luck with your approval.
  20. Updated first post to reflect all that are completed
  21. Looks like Kevin Weir finally ready to launch his New gen TK kits on a pre order!! Will be good to have another maker for this armour at last.
  22. I spoke with the Southern Cross Garrison GCO, and he has confirmed that Jafo is retired from legion.
  23. In our 3D parts and Technical section. Plenty of different TFA files and bits and pieces.
  24. That looks to be a TLJ helmet as it has the teeth and pointier Jib. Cardinal is TFA era so you will need a different helmet by the looks.
