  1. Yup, or crazy glue. Back in the day we weren't as fussy...
  2. The best part is getting them embroidered with your info and putting patches on it. This way, you'll always know which bag is yours and you can then tell which helmet is which. On mine I have two patches, an FISD patch (for my TK helmets, MEPD for the TD - you get the picture), and then for my garrison I use a different version, e.g. regular red = ANH Stunt. 10th anniversary silver = ESB.
  3. Not one of ours. Probably some random person. Let me guess - taken around either ECCC, AkiCon, etc.?
  4. Nice! AP has been around a long time and if taken care of can last years. You should be good
  5. Well, it's a personal preference. I'm told by some that using silk liners in the chemical gloves makes them OK in colder weather. And the truth is that nomex (or really nomex-knock off) are OK but suck when they get wet (and cold). In that case, the rubber gloves may be better...
  6. Well, it's more correct to say kids won't notice the brand so much as the quality and accuracy of the build. A pimped out FX suit will look better than a crappily assembled TM suit, no? Kids can spot details really well. They for instance certainly notice OOTB (out of the box) FX vs. an EI FX.
  7. Yes, if you are using nomex gloves, you're best using plastic hand plates and simply using an elastic strap to hold them to your hand. That's what people have been doing for 10 years+. If you do the chemical gloves, then blue them on.
  8. Sure are: From the CRL: Black in color, made of either rubber, nomex, leather, or leather-like material, with no visible straps or logos/designs. The fingers are enclosed, non-textured. No additional requirement for EI, It's only at Centurion they are required: http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_anh_stunt Also, remember that getting an award doesn't mean you have to troop that way all the time.
  9. I've trooped with Clay in person and have to say it's probably one of the best armor builds I've ever seen. His attention to detail is amazing.
  10. Actually until not that long ago using nomex type flight gloves was very common and they wear well. With the advent of latex hand guards being easily obtainable, most people have switched to using the chemical gloves. Personally, why not have two sets? You never know when you need a backup, or for us who can see colder weather I prefer the nomex during those times.
  11. You can use hot glue initially to see if it's where you like it, as it's easy to remove if you decide you want to change something. You can always redo with E6000 when you're confident you'll not change it. I say this in that it always seems to take me a few troops to dial in these kinds of things.
  12. Congrats, you truly have taken a first step in to a larger world. Your life will change in many ways. The first year is tough, but take tons of photos. They won't stay that little for long!
  13. I've loving the attention to detail
  14. And spittoons. I keed... Oh, you mean on your head? Yeah, it does seem there are still a few floating around, usually they are the oldest members. They haven't been for sale in quite some time, so it's not like new members start with them.
  15. There is even a thread on how to make FX EIB approvable. Several folks have gone down that route.
  16. Doh! I forgot about that. Good suggestion and the first post is now updated.
  17. Bill-o-grams - love the term He's phenomenal at making these
  18. And once we had a former member do an overage of gold coins and sold them on Ebay for a massive profit. This is why they are numbered now. Best inform the Legion MBO...
  19. Reading through the getting started areas is the best first step, and also reading through everyone's build threads. That will get you most of the way there, but like riding a bike, at a certain point you need to put the book down and just start peddling. Much experience comes from doing/making mistakes.
  20. We used to have the concept of a reception center or data bank where we could compile the best of the best tutorials, etc. so you can do a one stop shop. Alas, no work has been done on that project for quite some time.
  21. Congrats - it's coming along nicely
