My "after the fist troop to-do list"
Daetrin replied to cm325i's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
There is no one best way. On one suit I strapped my thighs to my ab plate, and my ab plate was connected to the back plate with suspenders. On the current one, the thighs are connecting to a garter. I still do cross-over shoulder straps from chest-ab/back. -
My "after the fist troop to-do list"
Daetrin replied to cm325i's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
"I found myself holding onto the ammo belt to keep pulling all the lower torso armor up. not sure how to address that yet. But it looked cool in the photos!" How about using straps over your shoulders, like suspenders? Has worked for me in the past. -
The JoeR has finally been recast!
Daetrin replied to JoeR's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Sorry to see. Why get a recast when they can just buy from you? Time and again has shown that overall recasters quality is worse, prices more expensive, and service is poorer. Usually all 3! -
LOL. Love the acronym, btw.

Plasma Rifle (Flamethrower) Build For My ICN
Daetrin replied to TK-Sharp's topic in Flamethrower (Plasma Rifle)
Very nicely done! Congrats -
What are you collecting it for? As Dday says, the value is relative. I have one of the limited run dual signature paradise edition TE/TE2 helmets (IIRC 25 were pulled). To me it's a bit of history, and maybe to the right collector to. To my wife it's a waste of plastic that she'd just as soon give to a kid to use for batting practice. But it means more than money to me because of who TE2 is. Unless you have some special connection to TE himself, then it's not clear why this would be any more valuable than any other TE ESB helmet out there.

Importance of style choice?
Daetrin replied to TheArchdude's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
I can't recall ever being asked to be either ANH or ESB (I have both). I do however try to match everyone else, e.g. if there is an ESB Vader and a Fett it's fun to do an ESB TK. If there are sandpeople and an ANH Vader it's nice to do the ANH. Why not have both? Much more fun... -
Darth Aloha's RT-MOD ANH Stunt Build[*RT]
Daetrin replied to Darth Aloha's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
And your orders are? -
I use two FB accounts too. My real one, and my 501st one. Else it's oil and water...

Well, the intent was that the EI & Centurion become the L2/L3, just like on IOC the Executor and Imperator are the L2/L3, and for MEPD the Deployed and SWAT are L2/L3. The grand vision back in 2009-ish was that it would all be under one roof, but that was 2-3 LMO's ago. The Legion leadership was moving slower than the Legion membership, hence the voluntary award programs springing all over the place (most of the big dets have them now). Mathias is right - what your garrison chooses to do is up to each one independently, same with LFL. To be more precise, the Centurion/EI are recognition awards for costuming excellence and to encourage Legion members to go beyond the base CRL, which was out of the box FX at the time.

Thanks Berbs42 for these details - they make a lot of sense.
-
Yup. It can be this way as EI & Centurion are optional levels, so we can increase the requirements over base.

I think we should sticky this thread. Honestly, I've seen a lot of armor threads these past 8 years and this is pure gold. The suit is over the top gorgeous and is an excellent example of what can be done. Paul is indeed the armor master and the build / weathering are about the best we've seen on this forum. Amazing job and inspiring - I can re-read this thread numerous times and keep learning something new.

FYI I found out that Starfortress (the wanted child molester now living in Asia) is selling EP7 helmets on Amazon. I talked to the legal group there and they said that the only way they can do a take-down order is from the copyright holder. E.g. if you or I complain, the sale can remain on Amazon. Only a complaint from LFL/Disney will cause a take-down. So...beware of anything sold on Amazon that is EP7 related, unless you can see it's from a licensed source (which currently, there are none for EP7 costuming parts).
-
I think it's good to wait until there is sufficient information to make a good helmet. You can certainly bring one to market earlier (as people are doing now - I even saw one on Amazon) - but they will all eventually get replaced later as better references show up.
-
Wow - great detective work guys! I haven't been this excited on FISD since...since...well it's been a long time.

My understanding is that this is real people in real suits, with functional armor, so it's quite possible. Or, the rumors could be wrong.
-
That will depend on how easy accurate under suits are to get. If they are not much more / harder to obtain than regular compression gear, then the base CRL will mandate them. If however like clone ribbed undersuits they are very hard to get, then it would seem logical to only require them at Centurion level. This is why FX was 501st OK for years even though AP & TE armors were out there at the same time. It's only now with the advent of cost effective accurate suits that the old FX has gone away, e.g. not even produced anymore.

Mary has ever been favorable to the 501st in the past (I remember meeting her in 2007 at the Rose Parade). People in the 501st are definitely in contact with her on a regular basis - you never know.
-
Saw that too - will be much easier to build then trying to go seamless like clones.
-
Agreed. One thing I loved about BSG was them putting vipers in the atmosphere. Gorgeous, to say the least.

Again, because it is great to post twice Thanks Bone for the screen caps. This armor is going to be HOT. Hot in that it will be hot inside a replica undersuit, and HOT in that they will the hottest everyone wants it armor that will come out in a long time (I'll be first on the list), and HOT also in that they will be probably the coolest character to do since...well...stormtroopers were in 1977.
