  1. I have a small compressor and spray gun it's a great help when you want to try get a shade closer to a particular armor, it still takes some time though to get the right mix and of course trying test samples as the paint dries differently. All I can suggest is either taking to a automotive paint supplier and have them colour match or trial and error and try mix the paint yourself.
  2. I've seen a few people use a wood guide for specific pieces and they are well worth while spending the time making them, ABS doesn't like keeping it's shape when heated and have a guide to form too is very handy. With the heat iron I cover the ABS with some baking paper, seems to help the iron glide better Great work and full marks for taking on the task.
  3. These are a lot more work than a standard OTTK build but great to see you've still kept going and almost nearing the end.
  4. Nice work trooper just a couple of things you could address before a DO gets started. TD grey is very dark, it should be much lighter, also you need to use "pan head" screws Cod snap should be a rivet Thigh cover strips should finish above the lower ridge and not all the way to the bottom Rear calve cover strips should also stop below the top ridge, you could also trim the lower section of your calves, Corner angled cuts are very large on your belt Could you also add a photo of your blaster D ring
  5. Sorry to hear about the fall but glad to see you back on your feet and moving along with the build. It's funny how building one costume can then lead to others, that bug can definitely bite hard
  6. Congratulations trooper and welcome to the ranks
  7. I use satin black on my TD screws and it's not been an issue so far.
  8. General strapping, most use elastic with snaps (if you double snap you have a spare in case one fails) other glue directly or use Velcro, I like the snaps so when the elastic stretches over time you can just remove and replace. Snap placement https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/24487-diagram-of-snap-placement/
  9. Nice work, I'm sure any youngling will be glad to get his/her grubby little (small hands smell like cabbage) mitts on them
  10. Hello and welcome aboard, there are quite a few build threads for both KB and Jim's so worth having a look through those, will give you a better understanding of what is involved building each of those kits. I would be cautious purchasing armor which is 3D printed, I've seen some other costumes made from it and they aren't as strong as ABS or fibreglass.
  11. I predicted this some time ago, since A LOT of people pulled out and cancelled their orders Anovos now finds itself (when they are in hand) with quite a few kits that they don't have buyers for so now are reaching out to anyone who had previously shown interest, perhaps they will learn you can't keep stringing people along and not delivering.
  12. I normally try to join the fronts (what the public normally sees) first to get a nice even flat appearance, then tackle the rears. I also like to add inside strips just for a little extra strength before heating and forming the rear closures. I use a heat gun but it does take some practice to use so a heat bath is a much safer option, if you have a look at some of the other AP build threads it will give you an idea what others have done.
  13. Looks much better. Having some "youngling friendly" blasters on hand is a good idea, I remember handing mine over to a youngling early on in my trooping days to find it was returned with the front sight missing, luckily a wrangler had noticed the piece hit the floor and save it
  14. Nice work so far, looking forward to the progress pics
  15. You'll need a couple of side photos too of your sniper plate
  16. Here's an original, notice very little return edge. Gallery section has a lot of helpful images
  17. Hello and welcome aboard, you'll find some info in this thread Ultimately it will be your GML (garrison membership liaison) who will be looking over your application so I would advise contacting him/her in regards to it's approval, to find your local garrison head here
  18. Luc is referring to the rear cover strips I believe. They stop below the raised ridge, even when that area hasn't been cut away.
  19. I've seen ABS distort with a particular make of snap and E6000, must have been the coating reacting with the glue and causing heat, this was on AM armor a recruit was working on, I've never come across the issue myself while building armor.
  20. Research is the key, there are a lot of build threads out there to follow, also have a read through this
