  1. First Order Scuba Troopers Wonder which detachment will get these, do we have a submariner detachment Star Wars Resistance - No Escape: Part 1 Episode Guide
  2. Looking good, may be the angle of the photo but just make sure your cover strip doesn't overhang the ends of the armor pieces, can cause them to catch on your undersuit
  3. Nice work, every bit of work ends up in the end
  4. Should be an easy one to remember, congratulations once again trooper, looking forward to seeing you at Centurion
  5. Very nice, looking forward to the progress. One thing that has been mentioned of late is the color inside the sides of hovi tips, they appear to differ from Stunt version with the Hero being black on the sides (stunt are white on the in sides), a few references from Joseph @justjoseph63
  6. My way of attacking as well, get your front nice and straight and clamp and glue, leave it a few days and then you can attack the sides, I added a little heat to mine to take off some of the pressure. Clamps, magnets and tape work well together when applying a little force while drying.
  7. Congratulations trooper and welcome to the EI ranks, looking forward to seeing your Centurion application
  8. always good to have a spare, spare, spare, spare, spare, spare, spare Hello and welcome to the forum Tyrone, lot of reading ahead of you, research is the key to this hobby, hope to see a build thread from you in the not too distant future.

Sean was the Commanding Officer for the 501st Dewback Ridge Garrison and he championed the inclusion of local costuming groups in events. Sean lived to serve and always made others feel welcomed. He loved to laugh and enjoyed helping others do the same. Sean often told others he had their backs, a promise he never failed to keep. Sean is survived by his young son, Jacen. Our condolences go out to his family and friends. "Buckets Off" It is sad news that we report the loss of another legion member, Gerardo Fernández (DZ-7092) of the 501st Skull Garrison TX 5525 passed away on the 24th February 2019. Gerardo was known as “Big Trooper", not only because of his height, but also because of the generosity of his heart. He is remembered for bringing joy and enthusiasm to each troop. Gerardo is survived by his loving wife Mariela Garcidueñas, and their son Patricio. Our condolences go out to his family and friends. "Buckets Off" It is also very sad news that we report the loss of another legion member, Mercedes Rentas Gelabert DZ-11927, who passed away on 3 March 2019. Mercedes a member of the Star Garrison, at 91 she was the oldest known member of the 501st Legion. Our community is a family, and Mercedes knows about family. With her membership, four generations of her family were enlisted in the 501st. Mercedes is survived by her 7 children, 24 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Our condolences go out to her family and friends. "Buckets Off" Greetings troopers, Almost three years ago I went to this Star Wars Reads day at a library in Fairfield Connecticut. As I was driving down I remember feeling nervous; this was after all only my second troop. What if I forgot my gloves that I had double checked were in my bag at least 6 times? What if I slipped and fell down and looked like a fool, or heaven forbid broke my helmet? That and a million other silly things were racing through my head on the drive down. We arrived, dressed up, and headed down to greet folks coming into the library. Not even 15 minutes into the troop something unexpected happened; I felt something I hadn't seen crash into me! Like a cart or something. I tried to figure out what it was, and why no one around me seemed to be panicking, and when I finally managed to look through the meshed teeth on my helmet I realized what had bumped into me and why no one was worried. A little girl, maybe 8 at best, was in front of me, hugging me as hard as she could. We talked about all the important things: Her favorite characters were the Stormtroopers, but Darth Vader was pretty cool too. Her favorite movie was Return of the Jedi, because of all the Stormtroopers. She liked the Star Destroyers (even had a shirt of one). But most importantly, I was her favorite Stormtrooper ever. Why's that I asked? "Because you're a girl, just like me!" That little girl became what I think of when I think of Star Wars, the fandom around it, and just how big of an impact we make on others when we take part in this hobby of costuming. With election season over we're joined by a couple of new faces and a lot of familiar ones. One I'm certain everyone in this detachment knows is Joseph, and I am so happy for the opportunity to venture into this new and exciting year working along side him and every member here! So what exciting stuff is coming up soon? We've been planning for Celebration Chicago! We'll be having a our detachment group photo shoot at 9am just before the main Legion photo shoot, and anyone attending should be sure to drop by and join in the picture! Keep an eye out for further announcements regarding Celebration activities on the forums, as well as 501st events on the main website. We're also finalizing our merchandise planning for the coming year. More announcements to come on that in the coming weeks from our Branding and Merchandise Officer @Harbinger. Finally, with Episode 9 around the corner we'll be getting in gear to start accommodating those costumes with CRLs, as well as updates to the pictures and clarity on many of our existing ones. FISD thrives off the amazing community, and as always, if you have a cool idea you'd like to share and see implemented we'd love to hear all about it! Thanks for your time, and I'm looking forward to a marvelous year. With Unquestioned Loyalty Sarah Bailey TK-20466 "Alay" Detachment Leader Greetings to all! It looks as if we have an exciting new term coming up. As you may have noticed we have more than a few members who have changed roles, and several who have been added to the Command Staff. As I am stepping down from the role of Deployment Officer, I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank the newest members of the team, Daniel (Theswede), Andy (First0rder) and Mike (msouza). I will be remaining on for a time in an advisory position to assist in the transition and help with the training, but I have complete confidence that they will continue to keep up the traditions and high standards of the office and will all be up to speed quickly. Sha Sha (shashachu) continues to do an outstanding job, and will eventually take over as "Senior" D.O. once the dust settles and I'm sure it's a position she will shine in. Please know that while their attention to details is way above average, there is an incredible amount of "behind the scenes" information to learn in the form of policies and procedures. In order to keep our standards up to par, I have asked them to take their time when reviewing EI and Centurion submissions for the time being. This means that it may take a little longer than normal for your costume to be approved, so please bear with us. My main focus in the next few months will be the CRL updates for Expert Infantry and Centurion levels. Some of the requirements currently listed can be a bit unclear, and due to their ever-evolving nature we are always finding things that need to be added/refined. Many of you have strong opinions on these, and you will certainly be welcome and encouraged to share them, but there comes a point when we have to move forward. Please know that exceptions to these updates will be made for those who have already posted their requests at the time when the new CRL changes take effect, and plenty of advance notice will be given. In addition to the actual requirements, we will also be going over the CRL models. Many of these are outdated and do not reflect the "ideal" look we are aiming for. I have approached several of you whose armor is truly outstanding to submit photos, but if you believe your costume goes above and beyond I encourage you to get in touch with me via PM. Be aware that all future CRL models can have holstered weapons, but cannot be holding them, as in many cases they obscure a lot of costume details. We have a lot of great things coming up this year, and I sincerely hope that you will all be a part of them! With Unquestioned Loyalty Joseph Pedigo TK-10863 "justjoseph63" Executive Officer Greetings troopers! I would like to thank everyone for keeping the election process over here at the FISD a civil one and a productive one. The election process legion wide can vary from a civil one like ours to very nasty and messy competitions that can have a negative impact on our image. We all rose above and provided our candidates with respectful and solid questions. It just goes to show you how much all of us really care about our detachment. Our detachment is made up of incredible members and makes us one of the best there is. I look forward to a great year. This section will allow future Troopers the opportunity to submit photos of their completed build to be reviewed by the Staff, Imperial Attaches and others in preparation for forwarding it to their GML for approval. Any and all advice/suggestions given will be specific, constructive, helpful and respectful. Please note that this program will NOT take the place of your local GML, as Detachments are not chartered for costume approval and can not override a GMLs decision, but is instead a peer review program designed to help you look your best and offer guidance and positive feedback. You will have the opportunity to ask questions about your completed armor, weapons (if applicable), accessories, etc. and get accurate information from the experts here at the FISD.. the definitive home of TKs worldwide. Greetings Troopers! I have decided to change things up. I have gone back through our field reports not only from the past month but all of our field training exercise reports. There are a lot of submissions that are still some major contenders for recognition, such as this month’s recipient. Troopers please join me in welcoming TK - 17529 Eric to The Stormtrooper Hall of Fame! Congratulations! With Unquestioned Loyalty Aaron Gibson TK-99725 "Pyrates" Curator Hall of Fame 709th Red Fury First glimpse of the 709th banner which will be available from Disney Park's - Galaxy's Edge "This is the nickname of the First Order’s 709th Legion. Unlike the 501st Stormtroopers, who do a lot of charity work and visit kids in hospitals, these bad guys are actually bad. They’re currently trying to occupy Black Spire Outpost … and they welcome new recruits. Just buy a uniform, and pledge allegiance to the dark side." *Note this is not one of them* Stormtroopers first debuted in the original Star Wars in 1977, with each subsequent film finding new ways to reinvent the terrifying military squad with new armor to accommodate various environments. A new report about the upcoming Disneyland and Walt Disney World attraction Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge might have confirmed early reports about a new type of First Order Stormtrooper that is set to debut in Star Wars: Episode IX. WARNING: Possible spoilers below for Star Wars: Episode IX Various rumors have circulated in recent months which claim that Stormtroopers with red armor will be appearing in Episode IX, indicating a more elite form of infantry. When discussing Galaxy's Edge and the characters guests might encounter there, one Disney representative may have confirmed these red troopers. “The 709th, the Red Fury,” Scott Trowbridge, the Imagineering creative executive in charge of Galaxy’s Edge, shared with Entertainment Weekly when discussing the First Order Stormtroopers that will be exploring the attraction. “There are some stories to be told about those folks, and why they’re here, what they came looking for — or who they came looking for.” The outlet also noted, "This elite squad from The First Order has arrived on a new ship — the TIE Echelon, which has a cockpit similar to Kylo Ren’s bat winged shuttle but the curved foils of Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced x1." Image has been leaked on multiple Star Wars news sites. While "Red Fury" might seem like an obvious name for elite Stormtroopers who wear red armor, the various other details, such as them being a specific squad as opposed to an entire garrison or that they arrive on a new ship, would lend credence to rumors that these new troopers debuting in Episode IX. These descriptions sound similar to what we learned about the Death Troopers in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, who had very minimal screen time despite their intimidating appearance. Another representative from Disney explained that the various narratives that will unfold at the park will take place between the events of Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Episode IX, adding more fuel to the fires of speculation. “We want to give the impression that this planet has always been around, and that we’re coming into it as travelers for the first time onto Batuu,” Margaret Kerrison, managing story editor with Walt Disney Imagineering, explained. “There are layers and layers of history and all of these other characters, familiar and new, who have come and gone to this planet.” Between this confirmation that a new squad of elite Stormtroopers will be lurking Batuu, the events of Galaxy's Edge taking place before Episode IX, and the nickname "Red Fury," Disneyland and Walt Disney World guests could come face to face with these new Stormtroopers when the attractions open later this year (for those of you who can get in). Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open on May 31st, 2019 in Anaheim. Walt Disney World will see the park open on August 29th, 2019. However, the park is going to have two phases. Phase One will have the Smuggler’s Run aka The Falcon Ride. But Rise of the Resistance will not be open until Phase 2 later in the year. Stormtrooper Oddities - What have you noticed? There you are watching your favourite Star Wars movie and then you notice something odd with a particular Stormtrooper that you hadn't seen before, there are a lot of oddities seen in the movies, some are really common, here's one of the most recognisable "Mr No Stripes" http://www.starwarshelmets.com/2007/ANH_HD_stunt10.jpg Now that doesn't mean you can rush out and pull off your tube stripes and get approval for another version of Stormtrooper, CRL's are made with consistency in mind so if you only see one of a particular thing it's an oddity and won't be in the CRL's Seems the more times you watch the movies the more you notice and especially once you research a particular costume/character, so what have you noticed?, let's see the obscurest you have found so far. I'll start the ball rolling, I thought I'd seen them all but I must admit I hadn't noticed this trooper's oddity until just recently, seems to have been in a hurry to dress and forgot which shin goes on what side. Now lets see your most obscure oddity, here is the thread, post away. Want Your Troop to be Included? At certain times of the year this embargo is lifted, generally around Blu-Ray / movie releases, May 4th and Force Friday, the recent correspondence from LFL outlines the lift of the embargo: "While there is currently a retail moratorium on character appearances in effect, it is being lifted for the week surrounding the May 4th Star Wars Day holiday, which will be April 29 – May 5. All fans, costumed or otherwise, can participate with retailers of their choice to celebrate Star Wars Day during this one week window with the restriction that costumed appearances must not be used in the advertising for the event. Although these store appearances will be treated like an open invite, we’ll leave it to the fan groups to independently organize around these events as they see fit. LFL will not need to approve or coordinate these." "Please note that retail locations should not include restaurants, bars, or venues with no apparent reason to feature Star Wars characters. If the retail location does not stock Star Wars products you should NOT be attending." As always there are strict rules, please speak to your Garrison Commanding Officer, Squad Leader or if you have one Garrison Events Coordinator before organising any event. *REMEMBER* Always follow your garrison/squad's guidelines when in comes to organising Disney/LFL promotional troops, only command staff can deal direct with LFL. Serve proudly, ladies and gentlemen, and as Tim (Dark CMF) says: "Keep doing what it is that got you here"! Are you an approved TK that spends more time on the boards than the average Trooper? Do you enjoy using your knowledge to help out future and existing Troopers? If so, we would like to invite you to join the Imperial Attaché program! Members of the I.A. team are chosen to help out not only those here on the boards, but on a local level as well. Our aim is to have at least one in each and every Garrison, Squad and Outpost in the entire legion to be the eyes and ears of the FISD on a local level. A suggested level of EIB or above is preferred, as part of the duties include assisting those aiming for levels 2 and 3, but is not a requirement. Being active on the boards on a regular basis , welcoming new members and helping out where you can is, though. Some of the benefits: 1. Access to exclusive Attaché merch., including patches, etc. 2. Having the Imperial Attaché title under your name. 3. Being a part of the team that welcomes new and prospective members of the FISD. 4. Being the "go-to" person in your Garrison, Squad or Outpost. 5. Exclusive access to the Attaché HQ area, Imperial Propaganda Machine (newsletter) and merchandise discussions. We are currently in need of Attaches in many units, especially International Garrisons/Squads and Outposts. For more information on this program, please head here and if you should have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at any time. Here are the details.. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY! Patches will be limited to TWO per person, and will only be sold to those who are current FISD Imperial Attaches. These patches have been graciously DONATED to the FISD, so all you will need to do is cover the cost of shipping and PP fees, which will be $1.00 each for those in the U.S. and P.R. and $1.50 each for those outside the U.S. What a deal! You can find the thread here Attaché Ambassador Fellow Attaches. Happy February. The Attache Check-in Process for 2019 has begun a little earlier than last year! As your ambassador, one of my primary roles here is to make sure you are active. It is vital to the Attaches on this board to be the continued beacons and light to the new troopers joining the boards. You all have been those beacons, and I am damn proud of you all. If you have not checked in yet, the 2019 check-in thread can be found here: Thank You! With Unquestioned Loyalty Preston Christman TK-91488 "Pretzel" PRO Lead - Attaché Ambassador So what exactly are EIB (Expert Infantry Badge) and Centurion levels? These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! It also works on giving a better look to the Legion as an entity, and you can bet others will take notice of your hard work. The 501st has a list of detailed requirements for Basic approval, (level 1), EIB, (level 2) and Centurion, (level 3) which can be found here in the Costume Reference Library, (CRL) http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL Here are a few of the questions people may be wondering about: 1. "I am a (tall/short/heavy/thin) Trooper. Can I still apply? Of course! These programs are open and encouraged for all sizes of TKs, as long as the costume is correct and meets the guidelines. There are many specific build tutorials to every option, as well as a vast network of fellow TKs on the FISD to help you out and offer suggestions. 2. "How much extra will I have to pay for extra items"? The cost is actually quite reasonable, considering the few extra supplies you will need, which are listed in the requirements area. While it may run you a little more to implement these additions to your costume, they will go a long way to improving accuracy. All needed items can be found for sale on this thread: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/16-ongoing-sales-project-orders/ While blasters are not required for basic approval, for EIB and Centurion levels they are, and may need upgrades (also listed in the CRL). 3. "I haven't even got my kit yet, is it too early to start planning"? Actually, aiming for Centurion is easiest to do right out of the box. 4. "I have my basic TK approval, can I still get in these programs"? In a word... absolutely! 5. "Are there any "perks" to this extra work and cost"? Besides knowing that you have a great looking set of armor, the 501st and FISD believes you should be deservedly recognized for your achievement(s), and allows you to wear the appropriate embroidered "rocker" badge of rank (available for a very minimum cost) on your shirt, helmet bag, etc., as well as rank decals to put on your armor bin. You will also have access to select "challenge coin" runs, receive (free) a cool certificate for your new rank, and have your title posted below your name in your FISD signature. Plus, once you reach these levels, you will have the extra knowledge to help out those who are looking to apply as well. 6. "Is it hard to apply, and what happens then"? After basic approval, all you do is make sure your armor is up to the standards set forth in the CRL, post a thread with the required photos in the appropriate area (see below), and wait a bit for the D.O.s (Deployment Officers) to address it. (Hint: Studying other people's threads before you submit can be a GREAT help). These are also listed on the main page of the FISD site. While waiting for approval, you will get some comments from others who will offer suggestions and constructive advice to help you out. If you should need any changes, the DOs will let you know, so you can adjust accordingly. Don't be dismayed if you do need changes... it's all for your benefit! After you are approved for EIB, then you can submit for Centurion. EIB https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/19-request-expert-infantryman-status/ Centurion https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/72-request-centurion-status/ Just remember that the FISD is here to help you every step of the way with whatever other questions you may have, but if you can't seem to find what you are looking for in your research, just ask away here on the forum. This area lists all those who have gone above and beyond basic approval toward screen accuracy. Request your free Centurion certificate here If you see any of these Troopers around your Garrison or Squad, be sure to congratulate them! As many of you are aware, the FISD is currently in our March to 1000 program. Our goal is to reach the one thousand mark of Troopers who have earned their Expert Infantry Badge, and although we are well on our way to this goal and have just reached the 900 mark! The amount of approved submissions is increasing (over 80 this year alone) thanks to the dedication of those willing to go the "extra mile" toward screen accuracy. Here is a brief description of EIB as written by Paul (Daetrin), our founder: "Expert Infantryman status is not required for members of this detachment. It should be viewed as an optional set of requirements for those who wish to take the accuracy of their costumes to the next level, and be recognized accordingly. We're a costuming club - think of it as an award for costuming excellence and you get the picture. The requirements will not replace or supersede 501st standards, but only serve as an inspiration for the level of accuracy that can be achieved. The standards are meant to be high but achievable..." Besides the added pride you will have in your armor, those reaching this level can purchase exclusive EIB gear (patches, decals, coins etc.) and get a free certificate for your accomplishment. If you are interested or would like more information about the program head here that will help. You can also contact myself "Pretzel" or any Imperial Attaché, and we will be more than happy to assist you! Greetings, troopers! 10. Nice work, thighs could come up a little and I'd suggest added some foam behind your sniper plate, will help to stop it catching no the thighs, looks very close.
  11. Make sure you check with your GCO and GML if you are allowed to wear a pauldron, at some events we don't allow non approved costume parts to be worn so it always pays to check Appears ok but I've seen a few get bitten with eBay purchases, things turn up not quite like the photos have shown, best advice would be checking on MEPD they have quite a lot of info on pauldrons
  12. I found with having long legs and a big gap around the knees that I brought the thighs down just a touch and when fitting the shins I brought them up a little higher, have some snaps behind the boot front that help keep the shins at that level. Some like the larger gap so they can bend a little better, check the gap once you have the sniper and ammo strip attached Great work, move along.
  13. WOW that's a long coffee break, it must have been some time ago the image is in black and white Joking aside great to see you back at the build, good luck with the progress
  14. Nice work, just a couple of things you could improve on to really shine: You may want to add a little glue to the drop box straps a they don't appear to be aligned with the end of the belt in some images, also the right side strap looks a little short, should be a small gap between the belt and drop boxes, in the image below it is overlapping. You could also add a little white to your mic tips on the rims You could also remove a little of the grey paint on the gum area of your teeth
  15. Congratulations trooper, one of many more to come, well done.
  16. The images you have posted you can't see the sniper plate covering the shin, you may want to take some more directly from the sides as shown below
  17. Nice work, it appears you may have an air bubble in the bottom corner of the left decal, you may want to try to tease that out, a a very impolite person with a pin or lift the corner to release the air and push flat.
