  1. You can do it that way, I modified one of my sets of armor so I could split it completely apart, was great for air travel. Just have to cut down the posts of the rivets as they are too long, a bit of grinding sorted that, then splitting the rivet into the male snap is a bit of messing around but finally got them in. I used snaps on both sides of the ab/kidney but afterwards I thought I only really needed to do it to one side and the others side could still be fixed in place. Unfortunately I don't have any images of mine handy. I have seen some others do the same thing, I'll have to search see if I can find a thread.

  3. Just a tip, most of us utilize the rivets and add the strapping behind which is screen accurate For some extra strength for the strapping we add plastic plates behind as well Other options are separate snap plates for strapping or even velcro.
  4. Top of the rings is looking great, just the underneaths that look a little rough, not sure how much will show when worn, perhaps the angle/width could be changed so there is more of the next layer to grip too, I find this with some undercut prints.
  5. Most impressive, I know it's your first outing and no doubt you will want to make a few adjustments, here are a couple you may want to make before you kit up again for CRL photos. Your chest at times is popping over the ab and looks very high, try to bring this down. Also the top of the cod can be seen between the belt and ab. Chest height comparison Comparison top of cod Chest yoke corner is quite visible on the sides Yoke comparison Chest / backplate sides are not quite aligned. Comparison Biceps could come upwards, appear to be hitting your forearms at the back. Comparison Once again great work, looking forward to seeing the CRL pics.

  7. Excellent news, welcome to the ranks trooper, looking forward to seeing your EI application in the near future, good luck
  8. Looking good, nice work. Just in case you aren't aware, one thing if (when) you will be applying for EI and Centurion you will also need to remove the UKG branding from your shoulder bell, unfortunately it is required for higher level approval and many have had to do this in the past, some even purchased another shoulder bell as they didn't want to replace their original branding, could be an option
  9. Hello and welcome aboard, will be looking forward to seeing your BBB photos
  10. Depends on which armor, some are shorter, usually though the 1 large tab and 4 1/2 small tabs are seen on the front. Also for higher levels, no large tab on the back.

  12. I have my shins up slightly higher than usual for that exact reason, I added some foam behind the bottom fronts of the shins so they sit higher on the boot. In your image looks like the thighs will come down a bit too once you start strapping
  13. Never easy when waiting for your armor, my ATA kit took 9 months and the wait killed. I've not really heard of many issues with Mark, you can always check back in with him and say he told you there were 2 in front and now it's 3 in front and see what he says. Mark posted July 14th he had a few kits in stock but no update on commission builds.
  14. A lot of people add the elastic on the back between the bicep and forearm when it's actually on the front, just to the side of the cover strip, this helps keep them in position when moving and tend to come back to normal placement at rest.
  15. I find bondo (auto filler) to be a little more stronger than blade putty, I use it for larger fixes then finish with a thin coat of blade putty, really it's a personal choice how you fill and sand. Using spray putty also takes care of a lot of the smaller lines and imperfections

  17. Exciting times, you may find once you start adding some strapping you may have to make some slight modifications just to tweak the gaps and fitment.
  18. Good luck stripping the paint back, can be a messy job but the better the base the better the finish
  19. They came out great, love the crinkle paint, I used that about 30 years ago on some auto parts and took some getting used to, using a heat gun worked well to obtain a better wrinkle. Nice work

  21. NOTES ON BICEPS: In the original films, many of the biceps had an indentation, or "thumbprint" (normally worn only on the left) on the inside. As the biceps are interchangeable, this is not a requirement for any level. Normally the thumbprint is worn on the left, some makes of armor have thumb prints on both sides. As you can see below the two biceps are different, with this make only one thumb print If you remove more of the return edge at the bottom it will help the shoulders to come in more
  22. You may also notice Richard's biceps are a little lower too. It's just a case of spreading the gaps evenly in all arm openings for the longer arms, biceps, elbows and wrists. Your gloves may be a little big if they are falling down on their own, I wear the glove inners and never have that issue. FYI have a few extra pairs of the inner gloves as they tend to get pretty wet and sweaty at long events, nice to put on a fresh pair between breaks.
