I started at 17 weeks wait and from last email I would be about 6 weeks away, you can do what I did and ask if you can have a helmet first they sometimes have stock of these. Gives you something to start on, then theres always blaster, belt, neck seal, thermal detinator and so on

Going really well, can't wait to see the finished product

If all else fails and you have to go with another maker you can always paint

Have read that some paint all of their armor just to solve this problem, a lot of work and cross fingers there are not runs of flying bugs hanging around while painting

Nice intstructions for the handle, may one day have to take all the best of the builds and try make one page

I was thinking just do drill a couple of holes in the side of the end cap, then fill them will a couple of pieces of plastic dowel, the cut 2 L's in the end of the pipe so the dowel in the cap would slide down then twist to lock, the spring would keep it tight.

Thanks everyone, just thought it may help others, forgot to mention you can also use this heating tip if you need to stick the fixtures to a curved surface. Thought it was about time I gave something back for all the helpful tips I have found here at FISD

Last time I used rubber gloves, dont get the messy fingers then, even those thin food prep gloves may be useful. I find you can rough sand the bondo just before it goes completely hard, clogs up the sandpaper but I use a wire brush to get it off. Dont know if it's any help to you

Welcome to fisd, im on my first build too still waiting for my armor. I'm aiming for centurion, its not thst much more work its mainly the fine details. You can find all the info you need on the forums, but if you cant then there are many willing to help, don't be afraid to ask. Good luck with your build

they are looking great, I hate rubbing bondo, used it a lot on cars, you must have no skin left on the tips of your fingers

While on the long wait for armor I decided to start making some fixings for the press studs So started the same way as most, cut out the plastic, sand round the sharp edges, sand the back to help the glue hold, punch a hole in the centre for the stud. Then I remembered the stud would stick out the back and not lay flat, so brainwave, bring out the old trusted heat gun and find a heat proof surface. Warm the back first just on the outside of the fixture, 5-10 seconds. Flip it over and warm the front, only needs a couple of seconds, you can just see it starting to bend slightly. Then while warm use a small piece of pipe and push down on the fixture until it cools slightly. Then you will have this And from the side, notice no stud and the plastic fixture is still flat for the glue to hold

Thanks Charles, quite a few people have had kind words about the metal work, getting asked if I will make any more, if I could get them laser cut I would as the cutting, filing and drilling is a lot of work. Your build is going well, love the counter mod

can't quite tell from the pictures, is the base oval, would help to drape better,also would there be a over hang to open and close. Looking great good work, wish I was that handy

I have used both and the paints seem pretty much a muchness, I am also using both on my lid, dave m decals and paint. From reading through the forums most prefer to be more screen acurate and paint their lids, my hands aren't that steady but I may call on a fellow trooper to help me out in the future

Looking good, you could also have started with wire mesh and paper mache for the base form. Good luck with the build
