  2. Hi everyone, I'm new (obviously), been wanting realistic stormtrooper armor since I was a kid and finally took the plunge. Ordered a full commission from Mark a few weeks back and am anxiously awaiting it now. I live in Carlsbad, NM and will be joining Dewback Ridge Garrison once approved. Just wanted to check in and say "Hi", been stalking these boards for awhile trying to increase my knowledge base. Have ordered everything I can think of to be ready to troop and am looking forward to putting it all together and posting pictures for everyone's feedback. SUPER excited to join the ranks!

Individuals' photos are simply edited onto general Imperial-style backgrounds. Hope this helps! Caleb

  5. Looking good James, good luck on your approval. If I had any advice it would be to drop your biceps, there should be very little gap between them and the forearms. Looks like your missing a few photos also.

  8. Where, What and Whom To Avoid When Buying When new to buying armor and products, there is certainly "a wretched hive of scum and villainy" and Rancor pits out there, or in other words what and who you need to avoid when purchasing armor and other products. This advice will help you to avoid lot of headaches and over spending. When Paying For Any Product and/or Services: PayPal is always going to be a safe way to send any payment. However, you must understand NEVER to send any payment via the "Gift" option for any product, work or services. PayPal will not cover any transaction under the "Gift" option at all. Always use the"Goods and Services", option when sending payment so that you have recourse through PayPal if any problems should arise during or after the transaction NOTE: You have a 90 window with PayPal to file a dispute/claim. Never send cash and/or money orders. These can easily be lost and never the reach the proper person. Plus you have no record for any recourse. Anovos: Anovos are now officially defunct At one time this armorer was considered reputable and sold relatively inexpensive kits that were capable of being approved all the way to Centurion level. However, in the last year or so the customer service is such that people have been waiting 18 months (and longer) for delivery, the price has skyrocketed and the communication is terrible. All sales are final. No refunds. As of this time they are currently involved in a class action lawsuit so are therefore not recommended at this time. Rubies Supreme Stormtrooper Costume: Even though the Rubies TK armor is licensed by Lucas Films, it is not acceptable for Legion membership without a LOT of work and putting a LOT more money and time into it. The average price for a Rubies Supreme Stormtrooper Costume is $400USD (305 Euros) to $700USD (535 Euros). But, after you factor in that you will have to purchase a replacement helmet, buy supplies to modify the armor, all this, just to get the Rubies TK armor up to Legion standards. It would be cheaper and easier for you to start with a new armor kit. There have been a few members that have done Rubies with all the upgrades, but afterwards said they spent a lot of time and money and will be looking into a different suit of armor next. RE-CASTING What exactly is re-casting? Re-casting/caster is a term used for an unscrupulous person who uses a quality set of armor to make copies in order to sell them at a discounted price. The original armorers spend hundreds of hours and in many cases thousands of dollars to sculpt quality molds, known as "bucks". Re-casters simply use the completed pieces to make counterfeit molds. These are more often than not inferior products that do not have the clean, crisp details required for 501st approval and for that reason we discourage you from purchasing them. Other reasons why not to consider re-cast armor: 1. First, the quality and customer service are not there. It may look like you are getting a great deal because of the price and/or possibly faster delivery time frame and you are eager to get started on your TK build as soon as possible, but this is often not the case.2. 99% of the time, the product will be made out of sub-standard material that will not withstand trooping or may even arrive at your door step with problems to begin with. Then that "good deal" turns into a money pit. You will end up spending even more hard earned cash and time trying to fix or this now "not so good deal" than if you had taken the money that you spent on the re-cast trying to get it up to 501st approval level and applied it to a product from a reputable vendor.3. Re-casting is basically stealing. I would hope that no one here condones stealing. If you have a question about whether or not a kit is a re-cast, we encourage you to ask here before purchasing. Websites and individuals: There are also certain sellers and websites that need to be avoided because of how that individual conducts themselves. Take for instance Star Fortress is run by a known pedophile and for bad product. TE is known for the way he conducts business and is also known for failing to ship product even months after payment was made. Ebay: Avoid kits on Ebay for the reason that was mentioned above, since they are 99.9% re-cast. Have Jedi patience. Save yourself the headaches and money loss by avoiding any dealings with re-casters and unscrupulous people and websites. RE-Casters: Intergalactic Supply Maker of Things argentina-worldwide-custom-props cassini_sunset cdubweiser Corsairs-kids.com costumejunkie CTM Props FN Armour newimage58 Pirate Trooper (PT) psuedonym (jimjedi3002) RTA /Mariusz Stormowski and Damian Jabloński sefni.international stormtroopercity TD-3079 from CA. Recasting several armor makers (ATA, KW, and whoever's snow trooper) and selling lots on Facebook, and made out of fiberglass via https://www.facebook.com/cesarsaul.sierra/about tjhoptio trekfreek Vacuum_dis Vacuum This (VT) Unscrupulous Individuals and Websites to avoid: RubberBlastersEtc (Facebook and Etsy) - Owner banned for severe criminal offenses www.stormtrooperstore.com A.K.A. Jedi-Robe MIMIC TK Armour UK / TKUK (see link) Star Fortress A.K.A. Nexus_enterprising A.K.A. Starbays (on etsy) Matt Gauthier (TE) Etsy-leatherbygauth lowcost-armors.com Head Shot Props All the names to avoid may not be listed above. But, when in doubt, seek advice by posting before purchasing or bidding. Remember, the best advice is always deal with vendors that have a good reputation and are on the vetted list. It will save you a lot of headaches and money.

  9. Quick reference guide for armor used in ******** Otherwise known as the OT (Original Trilogy) ******** Whether you are aiming toward Basic 501st approval, Expert Infantry or Centurion level, the FISD Gallery section is an invaluable resource for information containing hundreds of images of screen captures and film used armor. However, searching for the exact reference you are looking for can take a lot of time, especially for those seeking higher levels of accuracy or approval. This thread contains edited versions of those images and is designed to be a quick reference. It also contains notes and CRL (Costume Reference Library) requirements as applicable, but does not contain them all. For complete info. you can view the various costumes here: CRL IMPORTANT! Please be aware when applying for higher levels that the Deployment Officers do not depend solely on the CRLs when reviewing submissions. Screen caps and reference images are also taken into consideration. When in doubt, always feel free to contact any member of the D.O. Staff for assistance... we are here to help! The costume categories are shown as ANH (A New Hope) Stunt, ANH Hero, the Empire Strikes Back (ESB) and Return of the Jedi (ROTJ). Items for Basic 501st approval will be listed as Basic Items for Expert Infantry approval will be listed as Level 2 Items for Centurion approval will be listed as Level 3 Requirements from the various CRLs will be shown like this: bold, italicized in white, and may be paraphrased for brevity. 10. I want to start by saying that I'm stoked to have found Whitearmor.net forum. It saved me from a massive migraine from knowing who not to buy armor kits from. Once my BBB arrives I will post pics of that and my build progress. Also I was wondering about proper TK armor builds. I noticed in ANH that it looked like only the left handed troopers have gun holsters. So do I have to have a holster on the left side to be 501st approved? I am right handed. And could I have holster on right side or not worry about it? Thanks for input :')

  11. Thanks! The help will be appreciated. I've read a number of threads on people who've had to make adjustments to their armor so I am expecting to do some tweaking as well. Regardless of how good Mark is, I know I am not the perfect specimen to tailor to (too much beer for too long). Based on what I've read I should go straight after Centurion level so that'll be the first goal. I have a feeling I won't have a lot of other troopers in my area (small town, closest city is 2.5 hour drive) so after acceptance, the next goal will be recruitment maybe so I have people to troop with!

  12. Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the FISD! AP is great armour. As with any commission, there is a chance that you will want to do some tweaks to get the fit just right. If that is the case just start a build thread and post pictures of the things you want to address and we'll do our best to help you out. It is easier to do than you might think.

  14. Almost done with the biceps! Go figure I didn't realise scissors were that much faster... Left one after trimming: I fixed the upper corners after taking these pictures And both, glueing on the covering strips: Hopefully I will get my package from ATA soon... I swear the postal services is out after me...

  18. Good eye, Ryan! The right side needs of the canvas belt needs to be lowered a bit. Although acceptable for Level 2, the ABS belt should be raised at least to the yellow line, but preferably the green one.

  24. If I'm not too late to the party here, I'd like to add a suggestion that has worked well for my snaps on the elastic: I sandwich a piece of ABS between the elastic and the snap. I cut the ABS to the same width as the elastic, and make it about 2" long. I make a hole in the middle of the ABS piece so the snap fits in easily. It looks like this: snap-elastic-ABS-elastic-snap It removes all strain on the elastic at the snap, and makes removing your snaps a breeze. They simply pop off with the flick of a (rubber gloved) finger! Super easy and quick. I've never had to replace a snap in elastic that has been reinforced like this.

  26. Troop #18 - 16 November 2019 - MCM ComicCon Birmingham (approx 7 hours in armour) Good solid troop this one. There was a good group of us for most of the day plus an officer for most of it too. Started out in the entrance way guiding people in from the trains. I some how managed to get a feature in the con closing video from this! Just before lunch we took part in the Silver Sabres display with Lord Vader as guest of honour. After lunch the con was incredibly busy making moving around pretty hard so we spent most of our time on the club stand. This was at a pretty decent location right by one of the doors into the hall. As the con calmed down towards the end we were able to get out and patrol a bit more but by then most of us were pretty much done for the day. Not overly sure what everones name was who was in the group, that happens when theres over 300 member in attendance and your bad with names! I know @CableGuy was one though, maybe he can shed some more light on it! Photos by assorted UKG members, sorry guys I forgot to note down who took them!

  30. Shadow trooper falls under Spec Ops https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TX_shadow_stormtrooper You can find the CRL here https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TX_shadow_stormtrooper Yes you could paint white armor black BUT it would be some work and because it would be easily scratched would show white underneath so I wouldn't personally attempt it. Rogue one armor is different version of stormtrooper. R1 CRL here https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_rogue_one Plenty of build threads here on the forums of white stormtroopers that are of a shorter stance than many Plenty of makers supply black armor Each costume has their own detachment, here is the list of 501st CRL's (costume reference library) you may find of help https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:CRLbyname

  32. Hi there, Trooper. Here’s a handy thread on paint colours; https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/39650-anh-paint-colour-guide/ The grey for the frown and ab buttons is the same. The blue can be used for ab buttons and tubestripes. :-)

  33. Put in some more work on my blaster, need to have it finished for the 22nd when I go to my first troop at Tokyo Comic-Con. Made the folding stock a solid piece. Used pin for positioning and set the back pivot point. This is best to give me a reference of locating other parts. Testing the t-rail placement Installed the rest of them Also put on the flash guard I've found a new set of 3D parts from Trooper96, the detail looks amazing and might need to be a future project. It was uploaded in July which is months after my parts were finished and delivered. I'm having a friend print a new scope rail, front sight and rear sight for me from this plan.
