  1. Greetings from southern USA! I’ve done a lot of things in life. Building drag cars, raced motorcycles, flew planes, graduated college, taught others in self defense, free climbed, competed in bodybuilding, became a personal trainer, sold surplus military gear and nvg’s, mentored teens, married to an amazing woman and two lovely kiddos to name a few…….so much in under 40 years but this is up there with those as well. It’s just cool and a dream for a long time that I didn’t even know was possible until a year ago. you lot seem like a top notch crew to serve with. Thank you for the welcome and knowledge!

  2. First, I got to meet the maker! Shawn Thorsson, who cast my helmet. I really liked this Kylo's Kintsugi helmet Next, another badass female character, the Armorer And finally, another photo I considered using for my "official", what do you think?

  3. Well yesterday was EBBB day (Empty Big Brown Box Day). I now have everything out of the box and am in the final stages of the build. So excited. I have been working on my shins, thigh ammo belt and sniper knee plate (that was fun. Sheesh). I have started doing the reinforcement strips for the shoulder bridges as well. Left to do: Finish Shoulder bridges Rear cover strips on lower leg armour Thigh garter system (the clips are too low - will likely do Velcro or may make suspenders) mobility cutouts on legs ABS paste gaps in thigh armour. Elastics from biceps to forearms shoulder to biceps strapping Please let me see if you see any issues.

  4. Looking good! I would leave a bit more on the top edge as seen below, at least for now. Also, don't make the corner a sharp angle, but more of a slightly rounded one. Sharp angles are where cracks start.

  5. TK42442 officially reporting for Duty to the Central California Garrison! Been looking forward to this for 2 years. Very excited. Since I last posted, I’ve been Training for the Air Force, so I haven’t been able to even socialize or hang with my local members. Counting down the days to my return - 95 days!

  6. TK42442 reporting in! I’m Brit and I use They/Them pronouns. I got my first ever BBB from KB in Sept of 2020, and spent the pandemic learning and building my shiney suit. I was able to debut my TLJ Captain Phasma at SWCA in May, and thankful to join your ranks today. I’m also a serving member of the Air National Guard, so currently stationed in Texas and have 95 days of training left before I return to home in California and can start Trooping!

  10. Good to see you back posting. I had the same issue with my Tandy snaps with the post bending. I found that you need to be fairly gentle with the hammer strikes when you begin and rotate the snap tool slightly as you hit it to flare out the post on the snap. Once you have it flared somewhat, then give it 2 or 3 good hits with the hammer but make sure that the post is perpendicular to the surface you are working on before hitting it.

  11. This is exactly what you need to do for the AP armour. I tried a few times with CA glue, E6000 and then emailed Mark and he said this is what you need. It is the accelerant that does the trick.

  16. I guess I kind of already did this on my pre approval thread but figured I would post in the proper section as well. I was approved last week and really could not have done it without the help of many people here at the FISD. It was a long road (and not completely over) with some bumps, but in the end it was way worth it to build my own armor. I have learned a lot and competed something I dreamed of as a kid, so thank you all very much for the help! Can't wait to get out and start trooping. TK66007 ready for duty! Thanks, M

  19. I've also finally got around to putting the thigh ammo pack in. I was actually going through one of @ukswrath's Anovos builds as a guide as he has an amazing attention to detail and really explains everything with not only pictures/descriptions of what he's doing, but all the reference materials he uses as well (maybe next time I can be half as organized!). Now I'm assuming that there's a difference in the distance we used from the back of the thigh to the back of the ammo pack because of size and different makers and all that. He went with 1/4", and I tried to get that, but it wasn't happening, so I did 5/8" as the distance on both sides. And voila! thigh ammo pack. I will most likely get it to go up just above the cover strip and get a little glue in there to hold it in place around the time I go to paint all the rivets on the outside that need painting.

  21. I got this kit for dirt cheap. So I don't really know the supplier. Thanks for the tip on heat forming!

  22. Ok firstly use a lighter or stove top to seal the ends of the strapping, will work much better than using a soldering iron. Some of the posts inside the snaps look offset, are you using a snap setting tool?, something like this. The best ones have 5 or 6 sides on the end that help open the post. I had a really bad batch and ended up using a philips head screwdriver to open the post a little, thread here

  24. I cleaned and shaped up the shoulder bells. Time to figure out where to attach the snaps. Using tape I mocked up where I think they should go. Now it really gets exciting seeing it start to really come together. Sorry for the blurry pics. Let me know if anything needs attention.

  26. So it turns out I do have an update for this little build. I really didn't think I'd have anything more once I got the binocs sealed up. I made a little carrying case. This is a cheap 50 caliber ammo box from amazon. It just happens to be the right size to house a set of bincos. I painted and weathered to match my TK armor box. Of course there's a little plaque on top. I modeled this after vintage military plaques for similar gear. It reads "A unit of stereoscopic sights and enhanced magnification." The serial has my TK number in it, the bar code is my TK number, and it is, of course, property of the Imperial Stormtrooper Corps. All of this exists to protect the delicate volume knob. The resin holding that in place is super thin in order for the knob to mount and spin. It seemed like that could be damaged in transport to and from troops... so a case was in order. This was my first attempt at padding the inside of a case like this. It's adequate but not too pretty. Foam wrapped in black cloth. It should last a long time though, since no foam is being touched directly when taking the binocs in and out. also... the factory put out a 2nd binoc unit. The left set of binocs belongs to @Daetrin . They're also made by @justjoseph63 and got a nearly identical bluetooth modification in my hands. Paul has taken delivery of these, so these pix aren't spoilers. I was holding off posting them till he had them in hand. Paul asked if I could do a 2nd pair, Joseph sent me a fresh electrobinocular, and the magic happened. Aside from the extra weathering, the only big difference between mine and Paul's is that his should be able to open if needed via the 5 screws on the eye plate end. Mine is epoxied shut. I also moved the red light into that grey area. It fit extremely nicely there. And, of course, Paul's set also got a transport case. I didn't want to mail it with any lesser level of protection. Enjoy the binocs Paul!!! They're set 2/2. No set 3 will ever be made... unless my daughter demands one. heh

  28. Progress has been slow, but progress is progress! I've been working on the forearms here and there. Left forearm is pretty much done (except some inner cover strips). I'm also pretty close to the final trimming of the right forearm. As always, please let me know if you see anything needing attention.

  29. Hello to everyone who happens to stumble across my thread! So I have a commissioned RS Propmasters ANH TK that my wife bought me when she found out I have been wanting to join the 501st for years. I love my RS TK and even though it was a commissioned kit, I still ended up modifying the crotch, torso, and kidney pieces to make it fit my small narrow body frame. I love trooping and being in the 501st but I realized that if I made the RS kit from scratch, I think it would have been better fitting. Also seeing several peoples build threads on this site has taught me that the best way to make armor fit you as best as possible is to do it yourself. So I ordered a Walt's ANH TK kit and received it a few weeks ago. I am going to start slowly start assembling this thing and I am very nervous (as it is my first build). I am going to heavily review Cricket's, Sashachu's, and Ukswrath threads. I hope it helps that I do have a complete RS TK that was assembled by RS to use as a reference. I will post some pics of my RS TK after I shortened and reshaped the kidney, belly plate and narrowed the crotch and shortened the thighs for my next post.
