Advanced Tactics Awards Public Relations Staff List 2020 Follow FISD Greetings fellow members Welcome to FISD’s 15th anniversary special edition news letter! The official date is 6th July 2021, yep 15 years ago today the First imperial Stormtrooper detachment was created. We are very proud to have reached this tremendous 15 year milestone, and would not be here today if not for our founder Paul Hoeffer, his early team, and the many thousands of members that have contributed to this great forum over the last decade and a half. 15 years of unquestioned loyalty, troopers helping troopers, building and ever transforming this place to keep it up to date, relevant and the best resource for Stormtroopers in the galaxy. Thank you to one and all. This is an absolutely jam packed edition of where we came from with a nostalgic walk down memory lane. We hope you enjoy taking the journey. Personally I am privileged to have spent the last 7 years on our forums, most of that time on staff, and am honored to have work with so many truly talented staff and members. I look forward to many more successful years of the Detachment. FISD History Did you know? FISD's legacy charity is JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) The detachment started to support JDRF way back in 2007, but it became the official Detachment charity of choice in 2010. We will be returning our focus to this very worthy cause for at least the remainder of this term and doing what we can to support JDRF through donations and awareness. Now to kick this party off, and start the next 12 months of anniversary celebrations on the right foot, I’d like to make a few special announcements. FISD Achievement Award First and foremost, I would like to hand out an award. This is one of the rarest award programs we have, and is only handed out in exceptional cases, and we indeed have one that warrants it. The FISD Achievement award is one which is truly hard earned, it takes dedication, work and an over and above performance for one to attain such an acknowledgment. Not only is it rare to earn one, but even rarer to earn a second. His first FISD Achievement medal was earned back in June 2013 for true dedication embodying "Troopers helping Troopers", in the way this trooper helps and mentors members on our forums. Well I’m glad to say, that hasn’t changed one bit to this very day. Not only that, but he has been intrinsic in assisting me with the forum clean up, banner designs and in helping reinvigorate the FISD platform. As Detachment leader, it gives me no greater honor than to award Glen TK-85421 (gmrhodes13) his second FISD achievement award for truly outstanding work in every aspect he applies himself to on whitearmor.net. Congratulations Glen, you more than deserve this. You can find a full list of FISD Achievement Award recipients here Return of the Expert Infantry gallery Rebuilt from the ground up and back in better shape than it’s former glory is our new home for our Expert infantry Honor gallery. This is officially live as on now HERE Months of restoration work has gone into this, and our man of the moment Glen Q Rhodes is responsible for making it happen. Please read his article in this month’s edition, and if you are an EI, go find yourself in the new section. My last announcement before I let you go and enjoy everything this month’s newsletter has to offer, is the expansion of the “Costuming and Builds Original Trilogy (501st Approved) This has now had “and Anthology” added to the header, and a new section devoted to the Anthology and Remnant Stormtrooper costumes of the Disney+ series, Mandalorian, and soon to be released Book of Boba Fett, Obi Wan and Andor. Any build threads pertaining to the new Incinerator, Artillery and weathered Remnant type TK’s will now live in their rightful home section. It is exciting to see new costume variants in our midst's, so now they can be acknowledged and represented well, here on FISD. Finally, I would like to say thank you. Thank you for being active on our forums, thank you for keeping it interesting, sharing your knowledge and helping your fellow troopers. It means so much too all the staff here, and the fact we have a thriving forum community in the world of social media, is a testament to each and every one of you. I cant express enough how much I appreciate it. HAPPY 15th ANNIVERSARY FISD With Unquestioned Loyalty Andrew Franke TK11469 "Sly11" Detachment Lead Greetings troopers! They say time flies when you are having fun and being able to troop in a stormtrooper costume is one of the more fun things we get to do on these forums is enjoying the camaraderie of our fellow troops while spreading peace and harmony throughout the galaxy. On our 5th Anniversary we compiled a little data and were feeling pretty good that in 5 short years we went from nothing to having 550 detachment members, which made FISD the largest unit in the Legion. And, that 172 troopers had taken the challenge to go Expert Infantry, representing 8% of all Legion stormtroopers. Everyone felt it was a great start given that the detachment started out with only 10 members, the Expert Infantry program was still under discussion and the Centurion program hadn’t even been dreamed of, as our main focus was on creating useful content and, among other things, figuring out what we were going to call the detachment! Here is the data from 2011: 2006 2011 Total Legion TKs ? 2,266 Det. Members 10 550 Expert Infantry - 172 Centurions - 12 Costumes Covered 3 7 Forum Members 10 3,463 Total Posts 10 190,225 % Expert Infantry - 8% % Centurion - 1% One of the leading contenders for our new detachment's name was “Stormfront”, however that is until it was pointed out that this name was being used by a neo-Nazi group. Oops! In 2006 the Legion had also a new requirement which specified that all new detachments had to have the word “detachment” in their name, so the days of calling a sandtrooper detachment by something cool like the Mos Eisley Police Department were at and end, and we had to come up with something else. The "1st" in FISD is a reference to the Army usage of identifying Corps by a Roman numeral, e.g. XVIII is the 18th Corp. I Corp equals First Corp, and we wanted to be at the front of the action. Since we couldn't use "1st Imperial Stormtrooper Corp" and we were already part of a Legion, we settled on the First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment. Over the past 10 years FISD has continued to grow in leaps and bounds. The numbers below speak for themselves. 2006 2011 2021 Total Legion TKs - 2,266 5,668 Det. Before the advent of Facebook, the only place to discuss stormtrooper costuming was right here on these forums and so checking in every day or at least every week was a "must" for anyone who wanted to keep up with all that was going on. While some things have changed, what hasn’t is our mission. It is still as vital today as it was when we started. Below is one of the first posts I ever made to the forums on July 10th, 2006. VISION The 1st Imperial Stormtroopers are a Detachment of the 501st Legion, dedicated to the armor and equipment of stormtroopers as seen in Star Wars. They strive for accuracy in costuming and to discuss everything stormtrooper related. Their mission is to serve the needs of both current and prospective members of the 501st Legion, in keeping with their unofficial motto: "troopers helping troopers”. WHAT THE GROUP HOPES TO ACCOMPLISH: 1. Promote the current quality standards for the stormtrooper costume as established by the 501st. 2. Develop and create a higher standard of stormtrooper costume for members to achieve and a "kudo" (e.g. deployed status) as a recognition of that accomplishment (the same way the Mos Eisley Police Department has create a higher standard for MEPD Deployment). The goal of this is not to force people to achieve the higher standard, but rather to demonstrate what the costume can become and recognize those who achieve it. 3. Create an open and respectful forum for all discussions stormtrooper related, regardless of whether or not they are Original Trilogy or Expanded Universe. One major goal of the detachment is to celebrate the stormtrooper costume in all its forms, and the Star Wars costuming hobby in general. 4. Create and foster an esprit de corp for the stormtrooper costume. Some members complain that their garrison is stormtrooper-centric, others that the stormtrooper is looked down upon. By having a central space where stormtroopers can congregate and celebrate their costume, it removes the ?us versus them? mentality that has crept into some organizations, and establishes the stormtrooper costume as one of many equals. Life can be fast paced and can get crazy from time to time, and things do not always changed for the better (pandemic anyone?). It's reassuring to know that one thing doesn't change, and that is the indominable spirit of this detachment, embodied by our official motto "Unquestioned Loyalty" tempered with our unofficial motto, and true calling, of "troopers helping troopers". My heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the thousands of Legion members who have built up this detachment in to what it is today. It always was, and always will be, a team effort. If you ever have too much time on your hands take a look back through some of FISD's earlier threads, some amazing info, photos and videos can be found and it will open your eyes to how we have grown over the years. It's a shame a lot of our older information and photos are lost due to third party image hosts and also forum upgrades, if any of you do have images or information from our early years please reach out to either myself or any of our staff as we'd love to update as much as we can. I can't finish this piece without thanking a few people, firstly our detachment founder Paul Hoeffer "Daetrin" TK8020, without him we wouldn't be here. I would also like to thank all those members (too many to list) who stood up and took on a staff role over the last 15 years, working on staff can be a thankless job, it can also take up a lot of our personal life but in the end it can be a very rewarding experience. Also thank you Andrew for my second FISD Achievement Award, you snuck that into the newsletter draft Truly honoured and humbled, thank you Sir. Lastly but certainly not least I must thank you the membership, without you our detachment could not of grown to where we are today, thank you one and all. After all costs were accounted for and my (extremely thorough) accounting documentation was submitted to Detachment Leadership, we ended up with a total excess of $188.97 from the run - or about $1.75 per order. This was primarily from being able to secure packing materials at a reduced cost, and from funds saved on shipping of orders, as PirateShip was actually able to get us a rate BELOW what USPS usually charges/quotes. Pretty incredible and a wonderful tool I would recommend and use again! I also did ensure there was a small amount of padding built in to all orders, as shipping rates DO change (especially in these pandemic times), and I absolutely did NOT want to have to delay shipping by reaching out to request additional funds from anyone, or pay out of pocket to complete the run. At this point we would like to offer you 2 options: 1. Refund- You can receive the ACTUAL difference back for any overpayment on your order. (If opting for a refund, I will PM you). Please allow up to 3 days for this and note that anyone on a group order WILL need to go through the person who paid for the order. -or- 2. Donation- Your difference can actually make a difference by donating it to the Detachment's legacy charity, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation - info here. All funds donated will be tallied up and sent to JDRF at one time** in the name of the FISD. For transparency, that transaction will be made available for viewing afterward. The detachment has grown so much in the few years I’ve been around it’s going to get a lot bigger now that troops are up and running again in some places.I’ll keep this short and sweet but I have been laxed on the newsletter posting. We’ve had a few new attaches added to the list, some new members and even an older member that wants to get back into it all. We are always looking for people to add to the attaché list, anyone with the will to help and a positive attitude should apply. We’ve also had a very successful pin run which was a great start to an anniversary year with more to come.Lastly I’d like to thank everyone involved for making this a great detachment. From top to bottom everyone is always so helpful to people coming in. WOW!!! I always marvel the passing of time. What began as one mans desire to help fellow troopers, has grown to such a tremendous, supportive community of Troopers helping Troopers! I joined the Legion with my Classic ANH TK, wanting to share the nerdy volunteerism experience with my Brother TK-12175. Then a Phasma joined my ranks. I’m into my 3rd TK now. This year is also an anniversary for me with the FISD as I celebrate 5 years with this incredible Detachment, and have been honoured to help out wherever I could. Originally I helped as many ladies and gentlemen as I could secretly via PM. A silent Attaché as it were. That desire to help others on a deeper level, evolved into accepting command positions at Garrison and Detachment level. This Detachment. Helping people build. Being able to help ladies build through our unique body differences. Sewing soft parts for so many’s armors. Seeing your dreams of joining the Legion come true in armors designated to the FISD. Smiling every single time I see one of you in a photo or read about how you troop. It’s truly been an honor to give my time here. To share in our growth and sense of community that has been created and nurtured here by a command team and members that care about one another and what we do. And the costumes we choose. Everything I do has to have meaning for me. Serve a bigger purpose than myself. I have found my involvement as a member here the past 5 years, to have been some of the most meaningful and helpful years of my life. I’ve met incredible troopers-amazing people-real life super hero’s in one another and the children (and adults) we dress for. We each have the ability to do monumental things in this world. We give our time and self to the things that matter most to us. And each time we choose to help one another here as a member, seller, or as a member of the Command staff, whether big or small, we make a difference to someone. A big difference. It’s been my pleasure to serve you all as your Friendly Neighborhood Instagram PR lady. Every time one of you sends me a photo of where you are in the world, I celebrate you. The giving of your time to others, and I can feel your joy in doing so. That magic. I know this past 16 months have been dark for some, taken its toll in all ways on everyone. But light is coming. We are seeing some troops trickle in. Cautiously beginning to reconnect. Soon we will be back in our boots, doing what we do best. What better time to celebrate all we have become during these past 15 years, as we look with hope and desire to our present and future to get back to trooping and connecting with one another. Please know, you’re never alone here. I wish to Thank all Command staff these past 15 years for giving of your time and believing in what we do here, and to every member for making this Detachment as successful and inclusive as it is. All, I can't express how happy I am to see this section up and running. For those of you who have previously engaged in the conversation... welcome back. As many of you can attest, I'm typically long winded, but now's not the time for that. All I want to say is if you haven't had the opportunity to see how this conversation started and what it's become, please take a look at this thread: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/48305-new-anthology-tk-crl/ So, I'd like to get started, but I'm not sure if we need to create a Remnant CRL development thread, or if we can turn this one into it. Regardless, I look forward to getting going on this build and engaging with all of you in the new Anthology/ Remnant forum.3 points

Well my fellow troopers, the day has arrived. 6th July 2021. We officially start to celebrate the past 15 year of life as a detachment. It's pretty incredible to think, that thousands upon thousands of members, 501st or otherwise have worked their way through these forums, leaving their mark on the way, and allowing us all to take a wonderful journey into the development and ever growing resource that FISD has become. We have the largest membership base, one of, if not the busiest forums in the legion, an attache program that reaches more garrisons than any other, and a mass of TK information photos and other resources that some others would be envious of. All this with so few costumes in comparison to many other detachments. I think you could say we are doing OK! To welcome in our anniversary celebrations, today we launched a few things to get everyone in the mood. Our Special edition news letter is now posted and the mass email out will begin. We have launched our new and improved Expert Infantry honor gallery and a new forum section for our Anthology and remnant soon new to legion costumes. Awarded our highest Detachment accolade, the FISD Achievement award. And last but not least, launched our Anniversary coin sales thread. If you wish to share the love and celebrate 15 years with us please feel free to use our Facebook frame created by TK85421 http://www.facebook.com/profilepicframes/?selected_overlay_id=271286071464787 Happy 15 years FISD3 points

Not so, they are planned for. Second half of the term focus goes back onto foundational work such as CRL updates and modification. That is also planned out in categories based on priority. Most needed. This is CRL's written that have not had a decent update or far more information has come to light and require a good amount of time spent getting them up to a better standard. Phasma fits this category as an example and hence is seen as major work and higher priority. Then we have New to legion,. These are written from ground zero and also require good photos that require photo shop work to be cut from their background and made ready for adding tho the CRL's They happen during a build of a new costume and get refined when the costume is complete. These can happen any time. Minor updates , descriptor and some image changes. These are generally older CRL's that have had work done as time passes and can generally get a member approved from base to lvl 3 as they stand. These are not of major concern and we are talking in many cases lvl 3 only. We will move to the foundational focus from August, so you can expect to see that kind of work taking place after we get through the work load that has been preparing for the anniversary of the detachment. Plenty happening , all planned out so we have the time and man power to get it done.3 points

From the discussion it seemed that most remnant were dirty and weathered. As to difference that is debatable and may or may not form part of the same CRL's as a variant option. That's what make this all a stack of fun, working through those small pieces of information we have, and hoping to see more footage on these guys as the current series and new shows come to air. Loads of room for good focused conversation so I am very pleased that you are happy with the launch of this area Jason3 points

If I could expand on that... in addition to having the most activity on our boards, we have an incredible base of talented folks here that are more than willing to share their expertise with those on their white armor journey. It truly makes me proud that all new folks are welcomed and never, ever judged. Have I seen and answered the same questions hundreds of times? You bet, and I am more than happy to do this a few thousand more times. It's what we do here. All of us remember logging in for the first time, not knowing a Vocoder from a sniper knee plate, but with the help of others we made our dream of becoming shiny white spaceman (or woman) a reality.3 points

They are just for stopping the butt plate from flipping out over the kidney. I only glue one side of the tab which allows the other side some movement, I normally glue the top/kidney tab but either should work2 points

Congratulations! Welcome to EIB! Re: the v tabs... Just glue to the butt plate. The kidney plate side is floating2 points

Thanks Glen! I'm giving your v-tabs concept a try; I think I understand, instead of trying to restrict the booty, you make the booty extend the back. Hot water was weak, had to bust out the heat gun due to the abs thickness. Question: Do you glue both sides of the tab? or just the butt plate side?2 points

Hi James, and thank you for your EIB application! You have done an excellent job with the armor. Congratulations!!! *************************************************** CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All required photos have been submitted, and on behalf of the entire D.O. staff we are pleased to welcome you to the rank of Expert Infantry. Congratulations! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly; In this area we review observations made by your fellow troopers and the DO team. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armour. Note that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions. -It seems that some of the screws on the ears are too tight. Reference images -The wrist openings are a bit far from the tops of the hand guards. Maybe you can move down the forearms a little. Reference images -Some new paint on the ab/kidney rivets, is an easy fix and should take you about 5 minutes Reference images - The ridges on the top of the sniper knee follow the ridges at the top of the shin(perfect), but maybe you could refine the angle a bit. Reference images *************************************************** Centurion Requirements; In this section we prepare you for Centurion. Because Centurion photos show more detail than EIB, items pertaining to Centurion might be seen there and not here and additional photos may be required. We try to point out all that we can from what we see, but the final accuracy is the responsibility of the trooper. -The Ear bars shall have only one bump painted in black for L3. Reference images - The vocoder paint could be improved a little for more accuracy (the paint on the upper parts of the vocoder should cover the tops of the raised areas completely)... A filbert style brush will help with the top parts. Reference images -Your elastic bands seem to be round instead of flat... These are fine for L2, but for Centurion they will need to be the flat type. I see that you changed the elastics (flat ones) while I was doing the revision (perfect). If you don't mind, I don't delete this (may be helpful for future troopers). Reference images -L3- A single male snap on the top right corner of the ab plate is present. Unfortunately, we think that the Han snap should be placed a little further to the edge. I can see that you made another hole for the Han snap and left it perfect, so you definitely have mad ABS skills.... It won't be a problem for you to change this one. Reference images -Your butt plate appears to be pushing upwards, maybe you need to adjust the strapping. Reference images This "V tab system" can help keep it in alignment. L3 - Drop boxes are vertically aligned with the end of the ammo belt with minimal gap between belt and box. As we can see in the photos below, they sit too far in and need to be realigned. The outside front edge of the box should line up with the end of the ABS belt. Moving them outward and applying a little E-6000 (or similar) to the back of the strap can prevent them from moving. Reference images -Unfortunately, the grip on your Blaster is an Airsoft (not the Sterling type as required in the CRL) and will need to be replaced for L3. The power cylinders are not clearly seen(but I saw the photos in this thread here ), but those may have to be modified/replaced as well. Reference images Reference images And that's all James. Congratulations, and I look forward to seeing your application for Centurion soon.!!!2 points

I'm not a DO, but I've seen comments on previous submissions asking for the butt to be brought more in line and reduce the sticking out to a minimum.1 point
-
Works either side just depends on how tight your strapping in and if they are placed close to the ends of the butt/kidney1 point
-
With the way I've glued it, to the butt, it keeps the butt flush with the kidney, which automatically stops it from overlapping on top of the kidney. Can only speak for how that's worked for me, but I totally trust everything Glen says (costume wise at least [emoji6]). I made my tabs quite long, but probably could have made them shorter, as I don't feel like they're under a lot of stress. I used superglue / CA, and it's holding fine so far.1 point

In the start we were more looking for any broken images/links in builds, references and how to sections, BUT it turned into going through every post in nearly every section so it's just matter of elimination, we start at the last post on the last page and work our way through for until we reach the start of a section and we are going through section by section, time consuming but we'll get there in the end. The For Sale sections will have a lot of broken links and photos but as many are very old and not looked at anymore they weren't on a high priority but are still on our to do list as you can see from this post. There isn't much members can do unless they update their own posts/threads as members don't have access to be able to edit others threads As you can see we still have a way to go (remaining in red)1 point

Also, haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else, but I painted the bent part of the v tabs black (with enamel paint), or you could cover with black tape. Just to make sure there's no chance of them showing through the small gap between butt and kidney1 point

Hi Alex. great work with that painting job. I'm not so skilled and mess everything when painting something You could add some more paint to the vocoder and as additional tip, for high levels (we think you may want to aim for the more accurate level like EIB and Centurion ), you may want to add some white paint to the Hovi tips rim. and you can continue painting all the way back under the chin Some references1 point

Appreciate the clarification, and let me know if I can be of any assistance!1 point

Good catch I completely forgot to add them, Thanks Richard.1 point

Hi Tim, I would definitely send a PM to the DO team as a first step to discuss what it is you wish bring up for further discussion. They may have the answers you seek already, and if not can start a discussion in the appropriate area to ready anything for potential change or update. Most CRL work starts with staff and extended staff in the IPM area, before key points are brought before the greater membership for further discussion and a possible Poll to see what changes will be made. We do try and include plenty in the process so there is a good understanding why some changes are under consideration and other not. I would add all 3 DO's to your PM, and if you wish, you can add me as well.1 point

Shaded green safety lens works well, also green acrylic sheet. There are so many different ways to attach, screws with bases and tabs, gaffa tape, double sided adhesive tape, silicon, hot glue the list goes on. I think it's fair to recap the discussion before I jump straight in to the good stuff. @Parquetteinitiated this conversation back in November 2019 with a simple idea: "I would like to propose a new CRL specifically for the Mandalorian TK." Reese did a good job in the initial post of pointing out the new series' use of both the ROTK costume, or "Anthology" as it's sometimes referred to, as well as a hybrid version consisting of ROTK armor and the OT helmet. This character, we have since learned, is referred to in the series and Disney marketing as the "Remnant Stormtrooper." Additionally, Reese drew comparisons to the FISD's use of multiple CRLs for OT costumes which have seemingly few differences. This initial post appeared to gain adequate interest early on, likely throughout the run of the first season, then lost a little steam. I attempted to resurrect the thread in September 2020, but like several other posts, it went off the rails a little and then fizzled out. Last week, @TheRascalKingasked a fun little question on the FISD FB page about "getting the SE-14R added as an optional blaster" for the ROTK costume. Justin prefaced this question by stating the popular opinion is that the costume presumably "isn't different enough from the Rogue One CRL to warrant its own," but then questioned that thought. We carried the discussion back over here in order to facilitate a back-and-forth in the appropriate forum, but after @Sly11 suggested providing side-by-side comparisons of the costumes, I felt it was about time to start busting out the screen shots I've been collecting and "hoarding" for the last year. Here we go... First, I want to preface everything with the understanding that costume designers probably don't expect people to look at things frame-by-frame and pic their work apart. That's not the intent here. Yes, it's possible that a lot of these things i.e. TKs in gray boots (Chapter 15), were thrown on the actors because it was what the department had on hand. Hence the terms stunt and hero. Many of these things were likely items that were expected to remain in the background; that's why I only try to point out things that are either "front and center" or used multiple times. Andrew laid out a few criterion for the costume to receive a closer look: 1. They should be different in several ways from the R1 TK, not just in carry. 2. If the SE-14R wasn't seen on screen in Rogue One, then it shouldn't be added to the CRL (which can be presumed for any weapon). 3. Add side-by-side images to help the staff make a determination. With those ideas laid out, I would like to officially second @Parquette's 'motion' to add a CRL for the Remnant Stormtrooper, but also introduce the idea of either renaming the ROTK costume to reflect its greater usage in the Star Wars universe, or add an additional CRL for the New Generation Stormtrooper. In this post, I intend to show how the Remnant is an entirely different costume than the ROTK. I will cover the New Generation/ Anthology at another time. I used the Pathfinder Detachment's inclusion of the Scout Trooper: The Mandalorian CRL, as justification for the addition of the Remnant Stormtrooper CRL. I would like to point out all the differences they discovered to show the similarities in what we're doing, but this post will be long enough without that. If anyone wants to look at this, I encourage you to view their CRL drafting thread found here: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/21087-tb-scout-trooper-the-mandalorian-crl-drafting/ Yes, there are differences, but most are details such as weathering and wear, or the inclusion/ exclusion of parts such as a neck seal, different flight suit, vest and boots. The Remnant TK is very similar in that regard. I will point out the major differences, but since this should be a "crowd sourced" effort, I would like to ask others to join in as they identify other nuances. Remnant Stormtrooper: Let's identify what a Remnant Stormtrooper is. This will help to distinguish between the heavily weathered Remnants seen in service of The Client through season 1, those found on planet Morak in Chapter 15, "The Believer" and the clean shiny white TKs scattered throughout the two seasons working with Moff Gideon, and those potentially in the service of Grand Admiral Thrawn. One could argue this last point since canon has shown us the oft rocky relationship Thrawn has with his political peers. Whether Moff Gideon and Thrawn are allies remains to be seen, but I digress. However, Ahsoka name-dropping Thrawn in Chapter 13 "The Jedi" leads us down this path. The show has presented a distinct difference between the rag-tag Remnants and the more organized forces, but regardless, they're all Remnant Stormtroopers. Wookiepeedia breaks down several Remnant elements presented in both canon and legends. This info can be found here: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Imperial_remnants Since all TKs remaining after the Battle of Endor are essentially Remnants, a new CRL would have to delineate which ones we're specifically talking about. But since the term remnant has been used both in the show, and in licensed products, the term Remnant Stormtrooper should be easy to distinguish. I've mentioned it previously, but toys are typically a good indication of LFL motives. To understand this, one should browse through the Lucasfilm/ Hasbro license which is neatly outlined here: https://www.jeditemplearchives.com/2018-09-16-the-cost-of-hasbros-star-wars-license/ Of particular note, one requirement for Hasbro prior to releasing toys, is that Disney/ Lucasfilm needs to approve everything. So, when Hasbro released BOTH an Imperial Stormtrooper and a Remnant Stormtrooper as part of their Mandalorian Black Series line, this followed Disney/ Lucasfilm approval of the characters and naming. FOR THE REMAINDER OF THIS POST, THE TERM REMNANT OR REMNANT STORMTROOPER ONLY REFERS TO THE HEAVILY WEATHERED VERSION AS SEEN IN THE BELOW PICTURES. First the toys: As a reminder, we've seen CRLs approved off of less: So, with it established that Remnant Stormtroopers are a real thing, we have to turn our attention to the differences not only as they appear on the approved figures, but more importantly, in their on screen usage. Again, as was the case in developing the Scout Trooper: Mandalorian CRL, there's likely several other pieces that aren't immediately noticeable and we need the community's assistance in finding the finer details. These are some of the bigger items that immediately jump out. Credit for these pictures go to their respective photographer. Overall Appearance & Weathering. ROTK and Remnant: The Helmet: First, for safe measure, please refer to @11b30b4's post for a OT vs. ROTK comparison: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/48617-rogue-one-tk-vs-ot-tk-comparison/ Here's a few pics from Jeff's analysis of the two costumes: Now for the remnant comparison: Missing/ Broken Parts: Of course, there's scenes in Rogue One where the Stormtrooper's TD came off, but the Mandalorian was the first Star Wars production that clearly showed a TK using thermal detonators as a weapon. Additionally, there's multiple TKs with the same parts missing: Look at the wear on the rear belt. Unless this trooper sustained additional damage following the previous picture, this is a different TK with the same part missing. Drop Boxes, a major element of every TK belt. Missing Drop Boxes were seen on multiple troopers in season 1. Boots: Again, the costume designers likely used what they had on hand, but basic approval for ROTK states: "Boots are above ankle height and the same style as the First Order TK. Chelsea type boots in the style of OT TK are not acceptable." If not for the portion in bold, I would overlook this scene, however, the heeled Chelsea boots worn by the Remnant in the above picture stands as a big element. Accessories: The Mandalorian has shown the Remnant in possession of several weapons unused by TKs in the past. Most notably are the SE-14R and the E-22 blaster: As I stated in a previous post, I agree that if the weapon was not used by the trooper in production, then it shouldn't be carried as an optional costume accessory. But, if this is deemed to not warrant a separate CRL, we now have examples of the ROTK carrying these weapons on screen. I desperately want to carry a SE-14R and E-22 in my ROTK costume, but won't until it's approved to do so. However, that may come with a renaming of the New Generation costume. I'll cover that in my next post. I did this post just to get the ball rolling. These are some of the major items I've noticed, but when others jump in, I'm sure we'll start finding more.1 point
