They ask for a big bunch of measurements after order of a regular TK. Thats why they don't show a size selector for the armor.3 points

That's the spirit! We still have 12 spots available so I think you are in good shape to make it into the 500 club. I suggest removing the existing stripes while you wait so that once you get the new ones done you can get the new ones on and get those photos in quickly!2 points

Unfortunately I have to bail for now. The virus has really ripped things apart for my family and we need to free up resources to recover. I’m already planning my next build.2 points

Sly11 gave sound advice. The reason for the sizing references for RS Prop’s snow trooper and scout is b/c the Scout and Snowy are predominantly comprised of soft parts with fewer armor pieces so sizing is more customizable. Whereas the armor for those builds and the ANH Stormtrooper is vac formed from mounds of original lineage armor so there’s no size variance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Hi Glen! Can you add the following for me? (Edit as needed). Thanks! For the EI Pin area IMPORTANT: For those Troopers who attained Expert Infantry level before Sept. 16, 2020 and missed this run, it will re-open after all the VICTORY 1000 patches have been mailed out (hopefully before Christmas) so keep an eye out! In the D.O. staff area (Anything to add, @shashachu or @TKSpartan? Just a note from the D.O. Staff to say how very proud we are to have a record number of Troopers who have earned their Centurion badge in the last 4 weeks! You have certainly kept us busy, but we appreciate each and every one who has submitted, so keep em' coming and know that we are here to help if you need it!2 points

This list is for Original Trilogy (OT) builds. ANH, ESB and ROTJ) For those who are about to embark on a TK build, in addition to the kit itself and the supplies you will need** to do that we are often asked about other items to complete the ensemble and get approved. These are known as "soft parts", and include the holster, under suit, boots, gloves, neck seal and canvas belt. Be aware that some armorers may include one or more of these items with their kit, but some do not. Also be aware that just because the seller includes them it does not always mean that they are the correct type/style and are eligible for approval (especially at higher levels). When in doubt, always ask your armorer which items are part of the package or feel free to ask here if you have doubts/questions. We are here to help! If there is a particular soft part you need, below is a list of "tried and true" vendors who have an excellent reputation, as well as suggestions for where to get other pieces or even make your own! NOTE: If you are a vendor and would like to add your sales thread here or you have a tutorial on how to make your own please PM me before posting here. **https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/31404-supply-list-for-your-tk-build/page/11/ White Canvas Belt: NOTE: not all belts are created equal! They can run a bit small, so I suggest ordering a half size larger than what you normally wear. Vendor: Crowprops https://crowprops.bigcartel.com/product/jhodpur-tkclassic-short-boots NOTE: Crowprops are 100% approvable at every level. Make your own: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/27565-how-i-did-my-boots-tkboots-alternative/ Under Suit: Under suits can be purchased from many sources, and you have the choice of one or two piece types. I have found Amazon to be among the least expensive sources. The easiest thing to do is visit that site and search for it, for instance "Mens compression suit top black long sleeve". Examples: Mens compression suit top black long sleeve- https://www.amazon.com/s?k=mens+compression+suit+top+black+long+sleeve&ref=nb_sb_noss Mens compression suit pants black- https://www.amazon.com/s?k=mens+compression+suit+pants+black&ref=nb_sb_noss Vendor Trooperbay https://trooperbay.com/star-wars-stormtrooper-sandtrooper-black-undersuit NOTE: While some prefer the one-piece type, the two piece tends to be better when you have to... uhhh, let's just say "answer nature's call". IMPORTANT! When ordering an under suit, be aware that many have printed logos, white stitching etc. These can not be visible while wearing your armor. Hand guards (Flexible) Vendor: justjoseph63 - https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/35702-fs-flexible-hand-guards-for-centurion-level/ Vendor: Trooperbay- https://trooperbay.com/flexible-hand-guards-in-white-black-or-plain Gloves: NOTE: As per the CRL for Basic 501st OT TK approval, gloves must be all black with no visible straps/logos/designs and can be rubber, Nomex, leather or a leather-like material. For Level 2 (Expert Infantry) and Level 3 (Centurion) they must be made of rubber or a rubber-like material. I highly suggest finding ones with a long wrist, which prevents it from sliding out from underneath your forearm armor. Vendor: Trooperbay- https://trooperbay.com/accurate-trooper-black-latex-gloves Vendor: justjoseph63- https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/49156-fs-rubber-gloves-for-expert-infantrycenturion-level/ eBay is also an alternative. Just search Black Nomex (or leather, rubber etc.) gloves. Be sure when ordering the rubber type from eBay that you are purchasing the heavier duty type and not the disposable kind. Thigh Garter system: Vendor: Pencap510 https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/29991-thigh-garter-system/ NOTE: These are not a requirement, but they are AWESOME! Pauldrons- (For Heavy Weapons Troopers) Vendor: Soulart https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/40849-geeky-pinks-phantastic-gaskets-and-so-much-more/1 point

Aloha FISD, I’ve been a massive fan of Star Wars since I was introduced to the original trilogy as a child. Recently I’ve been very interested in building an accurate set of armor and have found an incredible community here full of information. I’ve also been interested in the 501st as I love how they reach out and do events throughout their communities. I hope one day I’ll be able to assemble an appropriate set of armor to meet their standards. Thank you for your time and I look forward to communicating with fellow enthusiasts and learning from the experts. Mahalo1 point

"Buckets Off" Greetings fellow troopers Can you believe it's December and the festive season is upon us!! It has indeed been a tough year for many of our imperial citizens around the world and although some staff were heavily impacted here in the detachment, we have managed to keep FISD "The place to be" in 2020. Together we have achieved so much and remained the most active forum in the 501st thanks to all of you, our wonderful membership. I would also like to thank the detachment command and extended staff for the outstanding effort of being here for the membership as much as you have been. Our forums arguably look the best they ever have with colourful banners, new sections and the huge clean up and repair effort that is still under way. This will continue until complete and was years overdue. We hit the Victory 1000 milestone in true TK celebratory fashion approving the 1000 Expert Infantry member and continue upwards, and are now ever so close to hitting Centurion500 so lets keep the momentum flowing. We introduced some new merch in the form of the exclusive pins, and I will reveal that next year we will indeed have different version of these, this time available to all. Before you know it we will have those beautiful Victory 1000 patches in our hands and I can not wait to see photos of these on jackets and vests, worn with pride. These are just some of the many things we managed to accomplish this year all considering, and I couldn't be prouder of each and every one of you that contributed to our success. From the simplest post to the most active, it is you the members that keep this place steamrolling along and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Don't forget to take part in our What armour are you wearing Poll for 2020 How ever you celebrate this time of year, I wish you all safe, happy and healthy end to 2020, and look forward to seeing you all here on FISD next year. BRING ON 2021!! and lets keep this party going. With Unquestioned Loyalty Andrew Franke TK11469 "Sly11" Detachment Leader Greetings Troopers! Well what can the PM team say about 2020 that hasn't already been said? Yes it was a tough year for all. So I will leave it at that. What did that mean for our team here at the FISD? Well overall it was a very smooth sailing year for the DCOGs. The forums ran rather smoothly and everyone got along. We extremely appreciate all of our members cooperation and support towards one another. Even though our members had a tough time during the pandemic in their personal lives, many members found the time to come onto our forums and provide helpful assistance to build threads and be welcoming to our new members. For all of that we are really greatful. The FISD remains the most active forum within the legion and we couldn't do that without all of you. So once again the PM team thanks all of you for making our job very easy this year. We look forward to 2021 and putting this pandemic behind us. Some people spend countless hours helping others, and want to reward their results as well as incentivizing new people to help as well. To register a “win” in the program, the assistance must have provided hands-on help trimming, building, and/or fitting of said armor for the person who was awarded Expert Infantry status. Other program notes: • Helping remotely, giving advice, or taking payment in exchange for help does not account, all work must be voluntary and without expectation of compensation. • The assistance must be for a period of 30 minutes or more. Spending 15 minutes tweaking someone’s fitting or taking photos does not count. • "wins" can be retroactive, e.g. if you helped 5 people in 2017 already, those can count as long as they are fully documented. Award Levels • 5+ “wins”: FISD Armorer Badge • 15+ “wins” FISD Senior Armorer Badge • 25+ “wins” FISD Master Armorer Badge The process • Person applying for the award will create an application thread to track the help they give. • For each “win”, they will list the person they helped achieve Expert Infantry status by copying their EI approval thread. • For each “win”, the person who was helped will validate that this person helped them. You can find the master award area here https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/182-fisd-master-armorer-program Are you an approved TK that spends more time on the boards than the average Trooper? A suggested level of EIB or above is preferred, as part of the duties include assisting those aiming for levels 2 and 3, but is not a requirement. I know like myself trooping is a form of stress relief for some people. I don’t think we will be getting back to heavy trooping soon but we have remained positive in the detachment. We’ve seen some good milestones this year, a few new attaches and a lot of builds. Congrats to all who were upgraded to EI and Centurion, job well done. Thank you to all attaches, and troopers who have kept this detachment moving and also a big welcome to all the new people this year. This truly is the best detachment. Lastly a big thank you to Andrew for putting in a lot of personal time making things run smoothly. This is my first year working with him and I was surprised as to what’s involved with making things run smoothly and how much dedication he has for the detachment. I’m proud to be part of his team. With Unquestioned Loyalty Mark Ryner TK4584 "captsafe66 " FISD/Fire Team Director So what exactly are EIB (Expert Infantry Badge) and Centurion levels? These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! It also works on giving a better look to the Legion as an entity, and you can bet others will take notice of your hard work. The 501st has a list of detailed requirements for Basic approval, (level 1), EIB, (level 2) and Centurion, (level 3) which can be found here in the Costume Reference Library, (CRL) http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL Here are a few of the questions people may be wondering about: 1. "I am a (tall/short/heavy/thin) Trooper. Can I still apply? Of course! These programs are open and encouraged for all sizes of TKs, as long as the costume is correct and meets the guidelines. There are many specific build tutorials to every option, as well as a vast network of fellow TKs on the FISD to help you out and offer suggestions. 2. "How much extra will I have to pay for extra items"? The cost is actually quite reasonable, considering the few extra supplies you will need, which are listed in the requirements area. While it may run you a little more to implement these additions to your costume, they will go a long way to improving accuracy. All needed items can be found for sale on this thread: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/16-ongoing-sales-project-orders/ While blasters are not required for basic approval, for EIB and Centurion levels they are, and may need upgrades (also listed in the CRL). 3. "I haven't even got my kit yet, is it too early to start planning"? Actually, aiming for Centurion is easiest to do right out of the box. 4. "I have my basic TK approval, can I still get in these programs"? In a word... absolutely! 5. "Are there any "perks" to this extra work and cost"? Besides knowing that you have a great looking set of armor, the 501st and FISD believes you should be deservedly recognized for your achievement(s), and allows you to wear the appropriate embroidered "rocker" badge of rank (available for a very minimum cost) on your shirt, helmet bag, etc., as well as rank decals to put on your armor bin. You will also have access to select "challenge coin" runs, receive (free) a cool certificate for your new rank, and have your title posted below your name in your FISD signature. Plus, once you reach these levels, you will have the extra knowledge to help out those who are looking to apply as well. 6. "Is it hard to apply, and what happens then"? After basic approval, all you do is make sure your armor is up to the standards set forth in the CRL, post a thread with the required photos in the appropriate area (see below), and wait a bit for the D.O.s (Deployment Officers) to address it. (Hint: Studying other people's threads before you submit can be a GREAT help). These are also listed on the main page of the FISD site. While waiting for approval, you will get some comments from others who will offer suggestions and constructive advice to help you out. If you should need any changes, the DOs will let you know, so you can adjust accordingly. Don't be dismayed if you do need changes... it's all for your benefit! After you are approved for EIB, then you can submit for Centurion. EIB https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/19-request-expert-infantryman-status/ Centurion https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/72-request-centurion-status/ Photo Checklists To make it easier (and faster) to get you approved, we have updated the Photo Requirement checklists for both OT and FO and included visual examples of what we as D.O.s are looking for in order to move you along at an expedited rate. I will figure out how to lift this thing. And good idea about using a broom. The end cap does come off.1 point

Welcome, Bill! As Glen mentioned, ATA makes an awesome set of armor and is known for great customer service. As for which route to go (Stunt or Hero) there are some distinct differences, like the number of ear screws, number of teeth openings, frown paint style, and number of bumps on the ear bars. If you are (hopefully)aiming for higher levels of approval/accuracy the eye lenses are also different. The holster straps have different requirements for the number of fasteners as well. To see all the differences, here are some links that will help you make your decision: ANH Stunt CRL ANH Hero CRL Quick CRL Reference Guide (lots of photos) Never be shy about asking questions (no matter how small). We are here to help you with anything you need to know!1 point

You don't technically need a spring, but if the end cap is removable I would suggest adding one for aesthetic purposes. To make your own, you can use a thin piece of wire, wrap it around a broom handle to make the loops and then pop it in (or buy one). I would be more concerned with raising the Hengstler counter. I'm not sure how yours is attached but it should be pretty straightforward, and if you need help just ask!1 point

WOW! Nice job on those, Greg! Next up will probably be the ear bars (much easier to do before you attach them). I have some references here that will help.1 point

Here are the 4 different tube materials I have tested so far. From left to right: A- Plastic hobby tube (9.2mm OD) / Caps made from jewelry strap ends.) B- Clear ABS tube (9mm OD / decorative metal screw end caps) C- Aluminum tube (9mm OD / decorative metal screw end caps) D- Brass tube (9mm OD / decorative metal screw end caps) Not sure what is the best to use overall but for price, availability and ease to work with, the clear ABS hits all of those checks. They will be painted so the clear tubes shouldn't be an issue to use. The brass ones have nice weight to them though. The main issue I have at the moment is not about the materials so much but my tools for creating the end notches. Using my dremel set up with a resin cutting wheel but I can't cut nice straight, even notches. Homework for the next few weeks will be looking into better ways to make nicer cuts or consider buying a better piece of equipment. Its probably better I tackle the base plate first before wasting too much time on just the notch issue. Lastly- Capacitors 5mm plastic hobby craft rods- Filed into shape using my drill and some metal files. Main tube section measures 25mm in length. Still very crude and unevenly made but I think they are looking okay for now. Aluminum looks nicer than the plastic ones but for they take more time to file into shape. Thanks again for stopping by.1 point

Just a heads up regarding the cut outs, for approval a total of eight is present - no more, no less1 point

Alright brother, I spent a little time getting the button covers squared up, as you instructed. Will use a finer grit to knock down the roughness, next. I'm feeling good with where they are but will proceed with glue, once I get your blessing. I have them taped in place for now. Thank You!!1 point

RS is molded from an original set of armour so is accurate in size and dimension. In saying that, the average size of the actors in ANH was between 5'9" - 6 foot tall. Sizing is important so you look righ, in which case you may find the limb pieces a touch on the short side for you (maybe). In a situation where height is concerned i certainly would not look at a commission build, you really need to size each part against your self. There are other armour kits out there that are more suitable for taller more robust troopers so not just height but your body type/build also do come into play. AM suits larger troopers. RT-Mod has longer arm and leg length options for taller troopers as well. So it's more about finding the right armour for you overall, not necessarily the maker you want. End of the day, you can make any kit fit within reason, it also depends on your aspirations. We have basic level, plus 2 additional detachment driven levels for accuracy, Expert Infantry and Centurion. EI is relatively easy to achieve, Centurion is some pretty fine detail, and how the armour really fits you for an overall appearance. Check out our vendors list and reach out to a few of the makers. Also check out some of our build threads. Good luck with your journey Eric and welcome to FISD1 point

I think I'll try to get my wife to help me with my Duct tape Doppelganger tonight so I can start on the rest of my pieces. Being wrapped in Duct tape by a woman may have seemed exciting when I was younger, now it just makes me uneasy. Jeff, Thanks for the feedback. I played around with some hips and did a trial run on a 3D printed Scout Trooper helmet. The HIPS was very easy to form and laid down great. Rather than making frames, I was thinking about just "wrapping" the HIPS inserts in the fabric and then mounting them. However, I was kind of fumbling around with how to keep them in place, so I'll just glue them in place like you mentioned. That's what I did with the 3D helmet and it worked fine; I got a little messy with the hot glue, but I'll probably go that route again. Definitely not going to glue the front of the shins or any of the clam shells. Though the fiberglass has a certain degree of flexibility, I think that solid connection would just ruin it. I was just glad those shins fit; they were the first things I dug out of the box and tried on. Also, Justin (@TheRascalKing) kind of attacked some of this in his thread a few nights ago. I did notice that the forearms are kind of tight, so I may have to get creative. His use of magnets was pretty good. So, I didn't do anything to the armor this weekend. In all honesty, this was a Christmas present from my wife, so I kind of feel bad doing anything with it this early. Again, big props to Jim for getting this kit finished and shipped so fast. I just happened to be the one who opened the door when the BBB arrived. This has given me plenty of time to game plan some of the details and try out some new techniques. One big thing to note however, I'm very impressed with the durability of that Rustoleum High Performance Enamel. Last night as I was weathering the clone helmet, I decided to give it some realistic damage and skipped it across my concrete basement floor. It got some dings and a few scratches in the orange paint, but any damage in the white was practically unnoticeable. I'm still thinking about the Eastwood's 2K, but I really need to determine if it's worth the price.1 point

Hi Daniel! First, THANKS for your submission for Centurion! You did an outstanding job on the fixes from your Expert Infantry application, but unfortunately there is one thing that was mentioned there as a requirement for Centurion that is still holding you back. As per the CRL, the tube stripes are "...positioned approximately a pencil width from the cheek". The pen you used in the photo (I have the same pen) is almost half an inch in diameter, and the gap is actually about twice as wide as a pencil (1/4 inch). We realize it's a pain, but the stripes will have to be closer to the cheek. It's great to know that Mario is working with you on this, so I am sure you will get this done in no time! While you wait for the decals to arrive, we would appreciate it if you could remove the excess glue as Glen pointed out... we want you to look spectacular, and those tiny details make a big difference in your overall look. Your right bicep should be at the same height as your left one. This is easily done with a strapping adjustment, but make sure the gap between the top of the forearms and bottom of the biceps is as even as possible. Looking forward to seeing the updated photos so that we can get that Centurion badge under your name!1 point

Hello Dylan, and welcome to FISD! @TheRascalKing is almost finished with his ROTK Anthology suit, and he can also personally speak to seeing LFL's suits up close since he was a TK in Mando season 1. Below is a link to his build, as well as that of another prominent RO Trooper.1 point

Has this build been approved because I too want to make a Captain Cardinal build and I want it to get approved even though He has not had a movie moment that can be verified as screen accurate.1 point
