I have a TFA set of armor . . . maybe because it was from the first run and since then I have heard various pieces of the kit have had modifications to their original form but I was disappointed when I received my armor and it had an orange peel texture on the armor.
I say trim it. Depending on the person, I've seen top portion of the curve peak out from the chest piece that covers it to some being completely covered. I can't seem to find a reference picture of a screen image from the trailer or even a view from the action figure. I don't read in the CRL that it needs to be showing.
week 3 . . . week 4?
Must be nice to have a relaxed pace on building, not like myself and the Alpha 75 with two weeks before Celebration. Your progress looks good. I was very disappointed to have orange peel on various parts of my armor too. Its a shame that that is still part of production.
For the biceps, the inner bicep piece with the "V" shaped edge is the left one. I'm putting together a Scootch kit too right now. This will be the 3rd one I've build from his armor.
Automobiles and Star Wars costuming.
But how many hobbies will give you the opportunity to meet celebrities from your favorite movies, send you to wear your costume to high profile events, etc.

EXACTLY. You next round of troopers have till december if you want to complete your suit for TFA. Versus the first set who completed theirs (myself included) who did it in two weeks.
Where are the trouble areas that people are encountering? The only one I've had (so far) is on the back/shoulder piece. I noticed a couple other troopers have that same problem.
If you have never worked with bondo to cover seams, used epoxies and resins and painted glossy finishes then this armor build will be very challenging. This build for me was very similar to the clone trooper armor I have. Those who completed this build in time for Celebration also had to deal with a very short time frame which others now won't have to deal with.
The 'ideal' height for the kit was 5'8" i believe. But someone that received a kit from the first 75 kits was a 5'4" female. I'm 5'7" and I didn't have to modify any of the pieces. The only noticeable difference on shorter troopers is less of the ab armor showing below the chest plate.
I don't like the rubber gaskets that came with the kit. They are heavy and not very breathable. I wore it for an hour and a half for one day at Celebration. It was very warm that week.
You should have no problems. I went ahead an preordered the kit. I'm 5'7" & 135lbs. With the exception of an FX kit I've never had to seriously modify a kit (cut short arms, biceps or thighs/legs) to fit me. I even built one of the episode 7 kits from ANOVOS and had no problems.
an actual cut through the plastic? I don't think Novus would cure that. The cut needs to be filled and bonded back together. Maybe a small amount of acetone, like a drop or two. Then take very fine sand paper to wet sand it smooth. Then use the novus method to buff the scratches.
