My 3D Printed DLT-19 build and customization
wook1138 replied to SithThundercracker's topic in BlasTech DLT-19
Very nice! As for the wire, I'm not sure, but I do know MEPD asks for it on upper level approvals. It is an easy addition. -
Skookumshot Requesting Pre Approval Review (AP)
wook1138 replied to MissionTrooper's topic in Request TK Pre-Approval
Nice job, Andrew! Easy pass. See you at EIB. -
Hi. You could try comparing what you have to this thread; There are other AM builds in that section as well.

Hi Adam. Better late than never. Nice work so far. Be warned when using the heat gun - things can go south pretty quick. If you can, try a hot water bath (stick ABS in boiling water for a minute - shape - and hold under cold water to lock in new shape). One little thing - it looks like you put your tube stripes on the wrong sides (left on right, right on left). This won't affect basic approval, but it is recommended for higher level approval. And be sure to paint the screws on the helmet white. Some of the trim lines can be hard to see. I had to use the underside of the pieces to see the trim line in a few places. I can send you images of where I trimmed by biceps if you need some visual guidance. Good luck with the build!

Hi Eric. Congrats on the armour! Read through the provided links above - take your time - you've got this. It will all make sense... eventually.

Looking good, sir!

Best brand velcro/hook and loop?
wook1138 replied to Vet_Fan_SP1138's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
That's the stuff I used. No issues at all. I did add a little E6000 to the back to reinforce the adhesive. Be sure to get the white stuff for your shins. -
Congrats on your purchase. Don’t worry, many of us have been exactly where you are. Just take your time and do all the reading you can. Most of all, post lots of images of your progress and ask questions. Good luck!

jayse01 Requesting Pre Approval Review
wook1138 replied to Jayse01's topic in Request TK Pre-Approval
Hi Jayson. Congrats on getting this far . I would recommend getting an tapatalk or imgur account (they are free) for posting pictures. They will be much larger and better quality. I'm finding it hard to see details in the images as posted above. Good luck with approval, trooper! -
Very first build AM armor ANH Stunt "will update"
wook1138 replied to SirFalconian's topic in ANH Build Threads
Great start!! You probably know this already, but the screws on the TD need to be painted black. And your brow looks a bit hero-like (low). For your painting - if you get runs and imperfections in the paint once the tape comes off, just use a toothpick to scrape away the extra. The paint comes off pretty easy - you can add a little paint thinner or mineral spirits to the toothpick if the paint is being stubborn. Good luck with your build. Looking awesome! -
Congrats and welcome to the ranks!

Congrats on your purchase, Cameron! Take advantage of the wait time and research all you can. Check out the other builds for ideas and check out the Centurion application threads for examples of how to make your armour the best it can be. Good luck with the build! https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/72-request-centurion-status/

Yeah, try Andrew's suggestion. You don't want the shoulder bells to be too far from the should bridge. You want them as close as possible. The shoulder elastic will pull a little, but that looks like a lot. You could also try doubling up the elastic (I've never tried it, but it is another option).
-
No. there is really no "too thin". You can take them right off - you can even reshape the cod if need be just so long as it has the same general shape and is proportionate to rest of your armour (unless the rest of your armour has obvious return edges - it would look funny). Also, be sure to sand the return edge right up to 600 or even 1000 grit - this smooth surface will help reduce friction. If you are worried about weakening the edges because of the lack of return edge, you can add some strips of ABS to the backside along the edges. Hope that helps.

Haha - yeah, I'm no stranger to the "tube stripe police". I was issued a notable violation on my build.
-
Better safe than sorry. BTW, awesome job on those tube stripes.
-
I've never had an issue with the buckle rubbing but whatever works. I tend to avoid velcro - I've had velcro attachments fail in the past so I stick with snaps or tons of E6000. The brow is a bit low for stunt. As mentioned above - you may want to move it up a touch for upper level approval, just in case. A few mm of white is what you want (4 to 5mm if I had to guess)
-
They look good. Nice work. As for the shins - I did the same thing as Ukswrath. Little bit of velcro and the problem is solved. Easy fix.
-
I didn’t bother reshaping mine. Changing the curve of both clips proved very tricky without the proper tools. The only thing I ended up doing was adding a little bend to the end of the clips. Keep up the great work! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Joe's First build - Operation Knightfall - Road to 501st Approval
wook1138 replied to scrivens35's topic in ANH Build Threads
Welcome to the FISD, Joseph! As Glen mentioned above, that Black Series helmet is quite different from an original trilogy helmet. This link is a really good place to start when it comes to figuring out what to buy (if you haven't already found it). https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/38-getting-started-read-this-first/ It has threads for approved vendors and the differences between some of the kits. as well as what materials and tools you will need. Good luck! -
A little wear on the boots is perfectly OK - and screen accurate. Do you have a pic of the damage? That would help determine if a fix is necessary.
