  1. I didn't use hooks so I can't really comment, but, for any shin sizing, be sure to wear your boots. It makes a huge difference.
  2. Hi Jared. Looking good. The troopers above already pointed out a few things. For touching up paint - I used a toothpick and a little paint thinner - the paint rubs right off. Are you aiming for Centurion?
  3. Congrats on BBB day!! The only place that no return edge is allowed is at the wrist (for upper level approval). Otherwise the return edge is up to the person wearing the armor. Myself, I don't like it and removed all of mine for comfort. Plus, many of the reference images and screen shots do not show much return edge if any on the arms. for example... Good luck on the build!
  4. Welcome to the FISD!
  5. You can never have too many magnets or clamps. Lee Valley has rare earth magnets. The quest design E-11 is fine - I added a spring to the action and painted a few parts to look metallic. I use it all the time for trooping - it feels a lot more durable than my 3D printed one. There are separate threads for blaster builds but I've got into the habit of just including them in my armour builds.
  6. Hi Andrew and congrats on making the best decision of your life. As mentioned above - are you going for Hero or Stunt? You will need to make some modifications to the helmet if you are going for Hero. Mark does indeed include a green lens in his kit (flat - stunt version). Although screen accurate, I find that lens a bit too transparent - people can see your eyes in pictures. I opted for a darker lens as provided by Mike at Trooperbay.com. Any dark green welding lens would work too - unless you are going for Hero, then you need to source curved lenses. The AP kit does include a lot of the little extras (split rivets, any visible snaps, frown mesh, screws for the helmet and ears, etc). As for a neck seal, I used Geeky Pink (Teresa or "Soulart" here on the forums). You'll want to get more magnets. Good luck on the build!
  7. I just clued in that you are a Badlander! Welcome to the FISD, Sal!
  8. Happy belated BBB day and good luck on your build! Space pack? Cool. Check with RWA or CrookKnight for packs. I'm sure there are other options, but those are two that come to mind.
  9. Great work on the helmet. No one can dock you points for effort. Keep it up!
  10. Hahaha. This happens all the time to me. I did it on my very first troop - and I did it on my most recent troop.
  11. Nice! The scope looks better. You could tone down the brass colour on the hengstler a bit. I'm not entirely sure, but I think the back half of the counter wasn't the same metal used for the front half - in fact, it might have been plastic. Best to have one of our e-ll experts chime in. Looks like you may have already seen this, but just in case here it is anyways...
  12. Hi Chirs. Congrats on getting to the build! You already got some feedback on the helmet and other items. Keep in mind that these modifications are much easier than it sounds. Check out the build thread section if not done so already - there are some very detailed Anovos builds in there (see ukswrath's build). If you are feeling stuck - let us know. The information here can seem pretty daunting so don't be afraid to ask any question. Take your time and enjoy the ride. Good luck!
  13. Good luck on your build. Awesome to hear you are aiming for Centurion! Keep the pics coming.
  14. Okay Kris, in the interest of the March to 1000 - a free moose patch when EIB is achieved.
  15. Hi fellow Badlander! Good to see you here. If you have any questions, fire away. Mark has a great kit - you won't be disappointed. Good luck!
  16. It's coming along, Robert. For the back to kidney, I had to use a combination of nylon webbing and elastic to keep it looking flush. I had nylon on the outside connections to keep things in place and elastic in the middle to allow some more movement when bending over and such. The butt piece will want to flare out a bit. This is common on most kits and often seen in the movies too. I moved my outside connections closer to the edge and gave the butt piece a quick hot both to reshape it (just a little). This worked really well - no more butt flare. Also, keep in mind these pieces will fit a little differently when you have your belt on. Certainly worth wrapping your belt around and seeing what it does to the placement of the various pieces. Keep up the good work!
  17. Regarding the gap on the ears - it is screen accurate to have some gap, so don't sweat it.
  18. Hey Christian. From what I can see, things are looking good. You probably know this, but be sure to trim the coverstrips at the top of the thigh and at the bottom of the shins so they don't stick out past the pieces. The coverstrips on the thighs could be a bit wider to cover the raised part a bit more, but that is just a minor detail. Some pics of where the TD clips meet the control panel would be good - just to make sure that the TD is good to go (looks good otherwise). Looks like you are still painting your bucket, what grey did you use for the frown - it looks light in the pictures? You might want to raise the brow a touch - it looks a little low for a stunt TK. And a little more trimming on that right eye (unless you are going for the "move along" sandtrooper look). The mesh on your hovi-mics look coarse but it could be the picture. You might want to post a clearer picture - the mesh needs to be a certain density for upper level approval, but this is not a concern for basic approval. You tube stripes look great - this is something a few of us have botched on our first build. Keep it up! Post more pics (some side pics of the bucket)! We love pics.
  19. Your are definitely onto something here! I always thought a good E6000 design would be awesome as a t-shirt. Keep it up!
  20. Oh, don't post that. I really phoned it in on Matt's stuff. The time constraints and relentless pressure was just too much to bear.
  21. haha. Funny - I got some new software with my graphics tablet - makes designing these things way easier. Plus, doing Matt's coins has given me a chance to learn some Illustrator skills. The first patch was a learning experience - I have high hopes for version 2. However, this time you or Matt can deal with the sales... and PayPal. I'll do another run when PayPal becomes more transparent about their service agreements, their customer service becomes more accountable, and glitter-farting unicorns emerge from morning rainbows.
  22. Yeah, 15 years and no problems... and then... . I did some reading and there are a couple of flags that might have caused PayPal to slap the limitation on my account. They wouldn't say what the issue was other than a "random audit" I sometimes log in from work which uses a VPN - security flag for PayPal apparently. Increased transactions due to my patch sale - which was pretty minimal in total dollar amount, but did sell fast. My PayPal balance - I had one for the first time in 15 years. My gripe now is that I submitted the required info, and it has been about a week with no movement or word from PayPal. Account still frozen (yet, I can still receive payment) - my money still being held by PayPal. Until a week ago I gushed about the virtues of PayPal, too. So yeah - knock on wood, fellow troopers. This sucks!
  23. Hey Robert, that gap will close a bit when you are wearing your armour. Especially if you stand very straight - it is just the way the pieces are shaped to conform to the curve of ones back.
