  1. That's strange indeed. I used E6000 and they held the forearms together very well - even with the odd shape. All I can recommend is that you give the areas being glued a quick sanding with coarse grit sandpaper. Use painters tape to hold the arm together along with the clamps, and let the glue set for at least 24 hours - 48 ideally. The hot water will soften the E6000 - so hot bathing with the tape still on helps. Filling a sink up with mix of hot tap water and boiling water from a pot should work - the AP armor is 2mm, so it takes a bit longer for the plastic to soften up when compared to other kits. You've got this, Robert!
  2. Hi! Welcome to the FISD. For general howto and supplies, check out the links below for some info - oh yes, there is a lot more https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/31404-supply-list-for-your-tk-build/ https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/41016-billgrams-the-one-stop-shop/ https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/79-tutorials-tips-and-howtos/ The build that Rat referred to above can be found here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/35086-uswraths-anovos-tk-build-stunt/ this build is practically a step by step account of the Anovos armor build. For packs, I have purchased a sandtrooper pack from Crookknights Imperial Packs - he is on this forum and on MEPD (and facebook) ------------- There are a few people who make pauldrons and pouches. I have a TrooperBay pauldron (I like it), and I got my pouches from Anthony over at MEPD (Blaster8266) - excellent pouches. As for general advice - take some time to read through the how-to's and a couple of builds from the build section - oh yes, here is a link to the HWT section (well, two direct links): https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/45-heavy-weapons-trooper/ https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/86-hwt-build-threads/ Good luck on your build, trooper!
  3. Great job sizing that armor down! Good luck!
  4. Hey Robert, looking good. A lot of people need to hot bath the forearms to make them fit better - for most, it is the shape near the elbow. I had to re-shape it so that the diameter from cover strip seam to cover strip seam is more (if I remember correctly). if that makes sense. Remember to wear your boots when sizing your shins. And remove all return edge, especially at the bottom - your boots with thank you. When you say your butt plate is longer - do you mean wider? It should be the same width - but it might flare out a bit and appear wider. Extra or sturdier strapping from the kidney to butt might help - I had to hot water bath the butt piece to keep it from sticking out in addition to tightening up the strapping. You might find the return edge at the top of your ab and kidney a bit uncomfortable when trooping. The amount of return edge is up to the individual, but it does tend to rub against the body or undersuit and cause issues. Keep up the great work!
  5. Neat! This makes me want to go back to my t-21 and add these details. The feeding mechanism or magazine guide or what ever those things are were missing from my 3D print. It only has the cylinder that sticks out. As usual, you make it look so easy.
  6. Congrats trooper!!
  7. Congrats on your kit! Centurion is very attainable... with a little help. Post any progress and all questions here and you will get feedback and help. Good luck!
  8. LePage has a similar product which can be found at most hardware stores. CrappyTire has it.
  9. yeah, I meant that AP comes with white on the inside already - no need to paint.
  10. You shouldn't have to. Some add a little paint to the outer edges to simulate weathering of the part.
  11. Yep, Andrew summed it up. That sniper knee plate looks great. I don't know what Brad told you, but it was solid advice! Nice work!
  12. When you say skinny - do you mean you didn't leave enough return edge? The reference pics show the suit after a lot of use and the screws are moved forward out of necessity due to wear and tear. Ideally, you don't want the screws on the front of the chest piece (but I really don't know how this would affect approval at any level). Can you glue in a piece of ABS on the back side to build up the return edge just enough to get the screws in?
  13. As mentioned above, trim down and curve that return edge at the bottom - that will help a lot when trying to reshape and fit. I don't want to discourage absolute TK perfection - but... the AP knee plate is very difficult (nearly impossible?) to get perfectly centered and nicely lined up on the sides - so don't get discouraged. I found fitting it and hot bathing it a number of times helps. I even glued it on the best I could and then took it off and tried again. Try to glue the front and one side on - let the glue set up for a couple of days, then glue the other side - using many clamps to keep everything where you want it. Let it sit for a few days. I also used little tabs of plastic on the back of the sniper knee to get it to sit at a better angle. Good luck!
  14. If it can't been seen - then it shouldn't be a problem. Good luck!
  15. Great job, Brendan! Easy pass. I can't lie, waiting for that TK ID is going to be painful. I applied at this exact same time of the year - but I didn't realize the elections would delay the review. I was checking for updates almost hourly for about two weeks.
  16. Looks good! As for the back of the thighs - if you can get up stairs and you want to keep them untrimmed - then don't trim them. You can always trim them down the road if you want - it is much harder adding the plastic back in. For your approval pictures, make sure you keep your leg pieces and arms lined up nice - in other words, get someone to help with the pictures who can spot these things for you. Make sure your shoulder bells are pretty much touching your shoulder bridge and there is minimal black (within reason) showing between the shoulder bell and chest. I can't see anything in the picture above that would hold you back from basic approval - the armor appears to fit your body well and that is the most important thing. You can always post in the pre-approval section to be sure. Good luck!
  17. The right thigh can be tricky. The front seam return edge is slightly curved. You may want to use an inner cover strip to get the two halves together - then clean it up with a outer coverstrip. I found gluing half (lets say the bottom half) of the cover strip on first, waiting to dry, then gluing the upper half later allows you to slightly bend the coverstrip to match the gentle curve of the return edge. Also, a lot of people end up making their thighs too small. If you need to trim for height (ie trim material off the top) do that before final fitting for width. Keep up the great work!
  18. Hey Chris - I trimmed a bit off my AP helmet opening. Just take a little bit off at a time - it doesn't take much to make a difference. I still can't get my bucket on while wearing a headset - I had to opt for mounting the mic in the helmet which makes getting kitted up a pain (have to feed the wire down the neck seal and get it plugged in behind my chest plate while wearing most of my armour - boo). And, oh yeah, I've removed and modified many cover strips. I'll never use anything but E-6000. I didn't realize that there is a shiny white side to the cover strips until I was done all my arm pieces and half way through my thighs. Oops. Good luck on your build day!
  19. The knee plate can be difficult - you did an excellent job with it! I also found that gluing the front (and maybe one side) first - waiting a couple of days for the glue to really set - and then gluing the remainder helped to line it up as well. Looking forward to seeing the completed kit!
  20. Congrats on taking the plunge! A build thread is a great way to get started. Post any questions you have. Once the gear starts to arrive, post lots of pictures (you will have to use a image hosting app like imgur or tapatalk). There are some great threads in the "getting started" section for what materials and tools you will need. Or, check out some of the other builds - many people will add supply lists and where they purchased different parts. There are also some really detailed tutorials for various aspects of the build process in the "how to" section. You will be happy with the AP armour (I have two kits and love them). Enjoy the build!
  21. Looking great. You are getting so close! The shins look fine at the back. And yeah, that is a lot of snaps.
