Mar2D2 ANH TK Stunt Stormtrooper RS kit build thread WIP
CableGuy replied to Mar2D2's topic in ANH Build Threads
Hi Martyn You’re making speedy progress. Don’t forget, though, it’s a marathon not a sprint. ;-) If you have some photos of your helmet from front, back, left and right, ideally taken in good light and from around 6 feet away, that would really help. So far, I can see that the tubestripes will need some work to get you going. The are one of the trickiest parts to paint freehand so, I’d probably recommend using a paint stencil. Here’s a comparison; As you’ll see, yours are a little different in thickness and width and are also leaning backwards a little. If you need a recommendation for a template/stencil supplier, let me know. Out of interest, what reference material/photos are you using for your painting and build? Best wishes Dan -
Could you try asking a supplier for a low cost sample of their current plastic? They could perhaps send you an off cut for a small fee?
-
Not heard of that myself, I’m afraid. However, peroxide on armour sounds like a bit of a gamble. Personally, I’d either consider new parts that match better of consider respraying the whole kit. :-(
-
Hi Jose, To echo what others said onFB, it looks like your main armour is acrylic capped ABS and the new parts look like standard ABS. You could see if your supplier offers acrylic capped parts in the larger sizes?

TK-14627 Requesting EIB Status ANH Stunt (RWA) (946)
CableGuy replied to Casperiser's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Looking great, Jamie. Best of luck. :-) -
The helmet is half way up his head. ;-) When the two troopers throw Han into the prison cell, Harrison’s arm catches the trooper’s lid and sends it half way up his head. The trooper walks out with it that way. Lol

Casperiser requesting Pre Approval Review (RWA)
CableGuy replied to Casperiser's topic in Request TK Pre-Approval
Hey bud! Looking awesome! Next step - post in the Advanced Tactics section to get your EIB review underway. You’ll find the list of required photos and information there. Keep up the great work. Dan -
Unless you’re looking for something to melt down to create ABS paste, I’d stay well away.... ;-) Seriously though, the quality of the moulds is poor. The plastic has a blue tint which looks nasty against higher quality kits. 3 piece helmet is hard work, plus the faceplate isn’t very well moulded. Check the vetted sellers list as suggested above and you’ll end up with a much better suit of armour to treasure. :-)

Panzer's ANH TK Build Thread
CableGuy replied to Panzer's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
That will depend on your body shape. The cod should fit quite snug to your crotch area. The chest plate will sit with the neck line up around your neck seal. The chest/ab overlap will then be determined. Regarding the helmet, I’ve looked back at earlier pictures and can see the right ear on the left hand side. If you have more pics I can advise more thoroughly on the helmet. :-) -
Panzer's ANH TK Build Thread
CableGuy replied to Panzer's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Hey there. Do you have more pictures? Side on would be great. I have a suspicion that the ears might be on the opposite sides. Also, a little tip for taking pictures of armour parts; Take a couple of steps back from the subject and zoom in slightly. This will give an image closer to how the human eye sees it. This will make it easier for accurate feedback in your thread. :-) Example; -
We’d have helped you with that, buddy. If you want to post some pictures and questions, the FISD is here to help. :-)

No worries. You might just have to adjust the loops a little. :-)
-
Hiya Tom RS stopped connecting their shoulder bells to biceps for commissions a little while back. To keep your arms looking neat, I’d suggest using elastic strapping between the shoulder bell and bicep. This will keep your biceps from twisting and/or dropping. You’ll see this method in the vast majority of builds. The ABS hook method isn’t very common as it was very rarely seen on screen. Han is the only example of this i can think of. Regarding the thighs, do you have a waist belt for under your armour? Most folks make elastic ‘loops’ for the top of their thighs, then feed a regular belt through the loops. Here’s an old example of me kitting up using this method. :-)

BuffyNZ Requesting Pre Approval Review (RS)
CableGuy replied to BuffyNZ's topic in Request TK Pre-Approval
Looks great overall, Stuart. :-) For posting on the forum, select the “direct” or “BBCODE” options. Just an observation - your left shoulder bell is currently on your right shoulder and vide versa. Also, the brow has been left quite long (common with RS Commission builds). You could consider trimming it a little if you wanted. Example Should be an easy approval for you. :-) -
Lovely additions to an already superb E-11. :-)

Hi David, Here’s some good reference photos for the elbow end. :-)

From that picture, looks like you have two sets of right shins.

CableGuy Builds....DA PROPS HDPE Stunt (ANH)
CableGuy posted a topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Hi troopers. As per the title, here’s a little overview of my recently built and finished HDPE lid from DA Props. I’ve put my years of research into this to try and construct and finish this using original methods. Whilst it’s not always possible to capture things in a photo, hopefully the video helps to show the 1976 vibe running through this helmet. Dan -
Many thanks to Joseph for all of his hard work. Hope to see you on the boards again soon. Brien, many congrats. :-)

This has been on my mind for a while now. Perhaps the CRL should include the CRL model (as the 501st want it to look) but/and also screen reference material. All of the EIB and Centurion reviews use screen reference - seems odd that the CRL doesn’t.

Thanks for mentioning it, Paul. :-)
