  1. Welcome, trooper. My advice would be; • Check out the vetted sellers list - https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/ • with all of the amazing kits available, avoid TKUK and Shepperton Design Studios /originalstormtrooper.com. You can do a lot better. Any questions, just ask.
  2. Thanks, Dave. Much appreciated. Yes, not a huge amount of DA on here. The DA FB community is pretty decent, though. I really like the shape of his lids. :-)
  3. Interesting insight, Jeff; however, the above references really do show that the majority were constructed in a similar and quite consistent fashion. Especially the shots outside Shepperton Design Studios.
  4. Well done, Ardeshir. Many congratulations. :-)
  5. Top job, Simes. Welcome to Centurion. :-)
  6. Hi Jamie, As it’s a lesser known maker (don’t think I’ve seen one before), I’d suggest contacting your Garrison’s GML. They’ll advise if the armour meets the requirements for basic. Best of luck, Dan
  7. Great build!! And welcome aboard, Mr Cricket. :-)
  8. Good work. That’s a nicer shape than the SDS. Keep it up. :-)
  9. Very rarely. My speaker goes behind my chest plate facing outwards and I judge the volume on the day. There’s another video on my channel where I kit up and use it, so you can see where it goes. :-)
  10. I’m a Tramp and can recommend it. Sounds great, works easily, holds a good charge, excellent service. :-) Here’s mine in action;
  11. Hi all, Well, I put my new lid with my armour yesterday and I’m really pleased with the colour match. There’s certainly a subtle difference, however, there was also a different in ANH between armour and lid. So, I’m happy with that. And yes - I need to re-paint my ab buttons...;-)
  12. Hiya, The ATA ears are a more accurate shape. Also, SDS have mounted the ears way to high (probably because of the shape issue) and the ears currently sits above the rear cap line; They should sit on or below the line; Moving them down to a more accurate height should allow you to use the ATA ears. (Worth a try, anyway). They’ll also add to the helmet due to the better shape. :-)
  13. Yep, those will be fine. Before you apply them, here’s a handy link; https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/44755-tube-stripes-anh-stunt-dave-m/ :-)
  14. The Hero helmet from TM is probably the best available and easily surpasses 501st standards. Check out his work on Facebook. If you want to go Hero, this is a great option, including his armour. :-)
  15. Hiya, No one is really 501st approved, however Troopermaster makers beautiful Hero helmets. If built correctly, these can easily reach Centurion. :-)
  16. Fair comment, Erick. However, do bear in mind that changing the angle of the ears would require additional trimming anyway to match up the shape. If you were doing that, trimming down wouldn’t be a huge amount more effort. Don’t do anything you don’t want to, though. What you have will be fine for basic clearance anyway. :-)
  17. Nice work, Erick. :-) As per FB, you mentioned the forearms being a little loose - it looks like you could reduce the circumference of them for a more snug fit. At the wrist end you should just about be able to squeeze your mad through (without gloves). Also, if you wanted a challenge you could try trimming the ears down a little more. ;-) Keep yo the good work. :-)
  18. Cheers Greg. :-) Yeah, I’d recommend this process to anyone. It is oozing ANH in the flesh. Plus, it’s REALLY fun. :-)
  19. Hi folks, We are nearly there now. All construction and painting is complete. I’ve started applying some light weathering using an off cut from my s-trim. Hard to capture on camera but it’s currently looking like natural wear and tear. There is one natural paint crack under the chin from applying the s-trim. At this stage, I don’t yet have the courage to add any more chips.
  20. Welcome aboard, Trooper. :-)
  21. Congrats on clearance!!
  22. Hi folks, Another step closer today. Benefits of being up at 5:30 with the baby is getting a head start on things!! Lol I used the Trooperbay Dave M style templates and a ‘special’ vintage shade of blue (thank you again, P). I was a little nervous about applying the templates in case they damaged the top coat / thankfully, they peeled off perfectly in the end. Just one coat here, carefully applied, using the paint sparingly. As you’d expect, a little bleed here and there but nothing that a gently scrape with a cocktail stick/wooden toothpick wouldn’t fix. Also, added the hovi tip mesh (although I don’t think this is overly accurate) and added the acetate lenses. Apart from the s-trim for the neck, were pretty nearly there. Please feel free to comment on the hovi mesh. Note the orientation of the stripes - see here for more information; https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/44755-tube-stripes-anh-stunt-dave-m/ Tubestripes approx a pencil width from the cheeks. Lightly and carefully applied just one coat of paint, trying to avoid too much pressure which could force bleed under the template; Pre-toothpick Post-toothpick
  23. Welcome back, Tom. Whilst you could try adapting what you have, it’s worth noting that armour has come on a long way in the last 15 years. It might be worth taking a look at the thread that Brien (Harbinger) shared and consider the option of a new kit. :-)
