Anovos ANH TQ Quality?
themaninthesuitcase replied to rcewerth's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
The below assumes you meant TK when you typed TQ not a first order. Thin ABS is not always a bad thing, I know of a maker who's offering 1mm kits. You'll be amazed at the flex that thing has. But I digress. I was the first Anovos TK in my garrison. It is also now cleared at Centurion. I've not trooped it a huge amount and it does have a crack or 2 but so does ever other armour I've seen after a few troops. The factory cut lines want you to leave about a 1cm return. My co recommended I reduce this to prevent stress crack, I did mines now around 5mm. The actual kit is very good. The canavs belt sucks, but with some effort can be replaced. The helmet has decals that I wasn't keen on, so I repainted, but will be fine. And there's a few inaccurate screws. Nothing wrong with this kit can't be fixed reasonably cheaply. What I can't speak well about though is the customer service. I ordered in wave 3 of the first release. I have been a member of a FB group dedicated to this kit since. Complaints about delays, trouble getting replacement parts, or general poor customer service are only getting more common. Now I can't say for why this is happening, I hope it's growing pains not something more sinister. Ultimately this kit is nice, so is all their stuff, and your backed up by a proper company with a license to produce. But the CS issues need to shake them selves out first before I could use them again. -
Is the game considered canon? I know games can result in a CRL but not always.

London Film And Comic Con 2017
themaninthesuitcase replied to The Anonymous Egyptian's topic in Off Topic
Work for a con would mean your either in costume trooping or spotting for the costumers for the duration of the even less a lunch break (30-60mins ish). When trooping you will be in groups roughly 3-10 people in size depending on who's there and the event. You'll then patrol, be in photos, entertain and so on. Buckets stay on at all times when in public areas. The UKG has a strong reputation and all members are expected to behave according to this. We do have a stand that's at cons but generally that's staffed by the PR team or command. -

Only if you're trooping and then you're expected to work, so you don't really see much of any con. -

It's not a UKG troop I don't think, certainly wasn't last year, but a lot of members go as paying customers. -
The CRL seems to be pointing to the Bounty Hunters Guild http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:BH_Boba_Fett-PP-Prototype Though someone I know cleared it last month as a Super trooper, but it looks like that CRL has been taken down. Though we do have a section here for non FISD costumes if you want to do a thread here anyway.

Looking good trooper, nice to see an ESB. -
Boots!
themaninthesuitcase replied to The Anonymous Egyptian's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Not a chance I'm afraid. Sole is wrong, elastic is wrong, toe shape is wrong. A standard black leather chelsea boot is what you want which will then need to be dyed/painted white. If you don't want to do this work your self then you can check out Imperial Supply Depot who do prepared boots ready to go. -
I'm not sure what the exact status is of FX with the UKG. It may well no longer clear, I can check if you want. That said I still think you can do better for that money and with some care and patience you'll look great.

ANH Anovos TK WIP (questions)
themaninthesuitcase replied to Tecnotic's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Looks a little high but I'm not sure how mucj of an issue this is or not. Maybe have a look at some reference images and see how close or not you are. -
Kit's can be had for that money, but will need building. I'd always recommend building you're own armour. Everyone is different and it's one size fits none so some fitting will always need to be done. It's not really that hard, just take your time, ask questions and work when you can. I built mine in the evenings once the kids where asleep, you don't have to do it all at once and the recommended glue takes a long time to dry anyway so some days you'll only be able to work less than an hour to do a glue up.

Billsid's Tk build part 2
themaninthesuitcase replied to BILLSID29's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
If you have a look at this screen used thigh you can see the return at the top as actually very minimal. I have mine trimmed down like this and find them comfortable enough. -
There's some of the finest makers of stormtrooper armour in the UK. If you have £650 to spend on the kit, based on that eBay, with a bit of time and effort we should be able ot see you kitted up in something great though there a few accessories and bit's you'd need on top. If you have any questions speak to either Mark or myself, we're both UK troopers and know what's about. Not wanting 501st now shouldn't limit you later should you change your mind. Lets get you into something good regardless of intent. I say "the 5 oh 1st" and "500 and 1st Legion" I think. Though I probably use both in both contexts.

Looks good, but I see your sniper plates trying to get caught under the thigh. A bit of foam either in the front of the shin, back of the thigh or both will push the parts away from each other and help stop them catching. And whilst your in the TD, might as well paint the screw heads black for Centurion. Good luck trooper.

None of the standard TK CRLs allow for weathering despite it being show on screen in a number of places. As such the UKG aren't going to clear anything deliberately weathered. The armour picks up dings and marks pretty quickly though if that's the look you want.
