Hey Dave, some great progress here and looking good. As to the return edge, it really depends on how much you want to try and reshape that but plate. The less return the easier it will form fit. generally anywhere from 3 - 5 mm return edge is plenty, and in some cases we have troopers that remove it completely to better shape various parts. The screen used armour had virtually all return edge removed, most probably so the various plates could flex a little more when worn by the actors, but that choice is up to the individual. Keep up the good work

Digz Graavz ANH Stunt - AP Pre-Approval Request
Sly11 replied to Digz Graavz's topic in Request TK Pre-Approval
Definitely a solid build and easy basic approval. The guys have given you some great advice so if you are looking to go for a higher accuracy level like Expert infantry and centurion, they will have you on the right path. Great work trooper -

Sharkbait's TFA Captain Phasma Build

Very exciting times ahead for you Rebecca, and hopefully your second Centurion honor. Looking very much forward to watching this all come together. -
There will be members OCD absolutely pinging right now after witnessing that lot

Cool, I'd be interested to see the results as have considered trying this myself on a PLA print. Hopefully you can maintain good detail, so please post up photos once you have experimented.
-
Always a safe bet to experiment a little on scap pieces of abs to see how much time you have to move the two parts before the glue bonds. E6000 give miles of flexibility in that respect. I used CA glue on my first build and a little goes a long way. I think I'm up to 6 kits now where I have used CA whith great success, but always recomend experimentations before using any glue on your armour, not only for practice but to work out how much to actually use as coverage varies from agent to agent.

Welcome Josh, Commander Pyre that will be very cool. Good luck with your build.

Making my Shims Passable for Centurion (WIP)
Sly11 replied to TK-42134's topic in ANH (Stunt and Hero)
You won't regret it, it's just so good for cleaning scuff marks and scratches, and the shine after you give your armour a hand buff with a micro fibre cloth is beautiful. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Making my Shims Passable for Centurion (WIP)
Sly11 replied to TK-42134's topic in ANH (Stunt and Hero)
Once you are finished sanding with the ultra fine grit wet n dry sandpaper, get yourself some Novus Plastic polish. The kit comes with three grades 3 being for deep marks, 2 more refined polish and 1 for a super shine. Not only will you use it tO get that ABS paste on the shims looking great, you won't regret the overall shine it brings to you full kit after heavy trooping. It is well worth the investment, I and many others here can garuntee it. -
Alternative holster pattern.

My sentiments exactly Paul We are about uniformity as you would imagine it would be in the real world. End of the day, we can't control what a trooper wears on a troop, they own their armour and it is theirs to do as they please. I have lost count how many times I have said this old chestnut, We are not about prop replication, that is what the RPF are for, we are the 501st with our own set of standards. ANOVOS (DENUO NOVO) FOTK Armor Delivery Possibility
Sly11 replied to JonnieBear's topic in TFA Stormtrooper
If you head on over to our 3D parts and technical threads and look for the F11-D 3D files, when you download them you will find a PDF that shows a breakdown of what colour all the components should be. I don't beleive it has colour codes but at least you will know what should be black, white and silver. hope that helps. -
Mmm, that's some big pew pew goodness right their. nice work.

Digz Graavz First Build - ANH Stunt from AP
Sly11 replied to Digz Graavz's topic in ANH Build Threads
Chris I just want to say, what a great job you have done on the sniper plate. I have built 3 AP kits now and can tell you the plate just never aligns quite straight. The small gap underneath the centre should be irrelevant as it is not part of the CRL and not a photo that is asked for in the application process. To get it as close as you have and to have the sides aligned with the top ridge is a masterful effort, well done. Centurion is well and truly within your grasp. -

Hey there Lucy, I love these kits and was lucky enough to see some up close at Celebration Orlando. Cant wit to see you finished and approved. Keep up the good work.

Excellent work James Every troop from here on in hopefully gets better and better for your comfort as you grow accustom to the fun and thrill of it all. I can only try and imagine how you feel but remember you will always have the support of your fellow troopers and as Alay mentioned, the all important handlers, they have your best interests at heart. Congratulations for getting out there sir.
