July 2018 Request for CRL Updates thread
Sly11 replied to ukswrath's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I also could go either way on the return edge at the wrists. As to the rivets, I am satisfied we have seen enough evidence that these existed on more than one kit and the amendments to the CRL should be made. -

July 2018 Request for CRL Updates thread
Sly11 replied to ukswrath's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Glen is correct, we do have control over our CRL's, as should all detachments. I also think we probably move faster than most when it comes to revision, if you consider last year and into this year there is always conversation sparking up on one of our many costumes and we believe in making all changes for the better. Once we are satisfied that the changes and the language is right, then Paul will do his part and get them instated. As a side note, GML's are now formally advised to use a combination of the wording and images within the CRL's, so some of these changes will potentially need new images also added to the CRL. Do we need to look at the EI and Centurion photo check lists to make sure they are up to date as well. -
Excellent, this looks very promising.

July 2018 Request for CRL Updates thread

Just putting this out there, but considering the Shock trooper is based off RotJ from the game, should this CRL also be looked at and revisions made to suit?? -
Better late than never but yes, 6th of July marked our 12th anniversary, why not celebrate the whole month. Thanks to Ripper for his quick mock up art work, and here's to the next 12 years "HOOAH"!!!

At Celebration in Orlando Tony Jobe (Ukswrath) and I did two in person approvals for the higher levels of Expert infantry and Centurion. The Centurion was to our Detachment leader Paul As he mentioned better than photos but the Pre approval thread was designed specifically for the purpose helping get things right for your 501st approval first go.

This program, as with others is an optional Detachment only award incentive. It recognises members who have gone over and above with contribution in our new 3D forum section, past and into the future. How do I get involved? The process is very simple and based on merit as judged by the command staff. What classifies as contribution? There are many ways to contribute to the 3D forum, and the more input you have the more likely you are to earn the award. Here are some examples 1. Create designs and 3D files accessible to the membership. 2. Be a valued member of our FISD 3D community in offering advice on any and all of the aspects of 3D printing, become a resident 3D guru. 3. Help the non savvy 3D printer members by creating, designing or printing an item for them. 4. Create detailed build threads of your 3D printed items, as long as they pertain to FISD costuming. If you have skills in this area that bring benefit to the FISD community at large and give members old and new a richer experience, then you have multiple ways to earn your way into the 3D Contributors award. Silver and Gold level awards The Silver award can be earned numerous times over the years, and this will be depicted by the number of silver cubes that appear on your badge. The Gold cube is awarded to those the achieve 5 silver cubes or have contributed at such an astounding level that it is deemed appropriate that they receive the Gold Cube. This can also be earned more than once. At its heart this award is all about troopers helping trooper and it gives the command staff great pleasure in acknowledging the valuable contributions the membership make. Joseph is 100% correct, maker of things is a recaster, and always best not to support these guys.
-
yep, here you go, this is a screen used belt
-
Hi James Thermal Det looks good, belt looks good, but make sure your Drop boxes are vertically aligned with the ends of the plastic ammo portion of the belt. Doesn't matter that that is for level 3 but it is screen accurate and gauging by your build, that's what you are pushing for Nice I3 Prusa printer by the way

Rocket Trooper CRL Discussion
Sly11 replied to Ericnathan811's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I agree Ben, it is RotJ and would need to be the correct armour even from basic level. Those images leave no doubt. I think modifying an ANH kit by fusing the Butt and Kidney plates together would work, then adding the trim material that goes around the chest Ab and back sections would suffice. The belt proper, would need to be of the RotJ kind a swell (Nylon, not canvas) and not that I can see it in these images, but for higher levels, the boot soles would need to be painted white. -
I would like to add on to what Chris has stated above, or expand on the art of Vac forming. There are so many variables to consider like material costs and always a degree of trial and error from plastic to plastic. This equates to a lot of wastage so when you start adding up the overall cost of building a vac table, materials to vac form, making the bucks to pull over, wastage, not to mention a huge amount of time building everything you most definitely could have purchased yourself several sets of armour all the tools required to assemble those kits with and built them for you and your mates. Honestly, this is not an attempt to put you off, but rather to let you know what you are in for. I vac form, I make bucks, molds for resin casting etc and trust me,if not for the group of guys I do this with all sinking a fair chunk of cash time and talent into it, it's not something I could have undertaken myself. Best of luck with which ever path you chose and remember FISD is here to help.
