  1. Also, the FISD mixer is in 50 minutes - 6pm - at the Rosen Center bar.
  2. Nice - off to a great start.
  3. At about 10am they opened all the doors, no waiting then. Sorry for the folks who stood in line for hours earlier.
  4. Please do.
  5. Wow! You take something great and make it even better. Some lucky dude will be sporting this at Celebration? I hope to buy him a beer. And, I will push all I can to get this in the CRL as C8, even if I have to play the LMO with mass amounts of liquor to do so.
  6. Kudos for such a fantastic idea. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity so I hope we see lots of applicants.
  7. TE is notorious for selling molds, then recasting himself and selling more stuff. It's one of the reasons why he was banned from pretty much every 501st forum. TrooperMaster has a far better eye than I do, I'd trust his assessment. And no, I'm not surprised he recast RS.
  8. Well, it would be great if you can post pix. There are several iterations of TE, but yeah that was the base of most of suits today like ATA, TE2, CAP, CAP2, etc. I presume it's HIPS, right? If so the downsides are that it will need to be painted and is more prone to tear in a few spots. The upside is that it's easier to trim. It will really come down to price/condition. Heck, someone may even want it as a collector's suit.
  9. Awesome, for sure.
  10. Well, for now you can get them I think. There really is no one making them, so I think the only source is suits people are getting rid of. They are still 501st acceptable, but may no longer be for new applicants by end of year. IOW, if you are going to offload it, this year is good. If they get accepted, then they are grandfathered until they retire. So, may as well sell it while you can. And, FWIW, you can still go EI with FX. So not sure who is telling you they are garbage, but clearly they are not fully informed.
  11. All R1 TK items moved to a seperate thread.
  12. Don't contain it - let it out
  13. Dunno, you may have been somewhere else? I moved it to the right place now. It was easy to find, I just typed in Teresa in the search. Anyway, all is good now. We're all good. How are you?
  14. Well, they are good pix, so all good
  15. Tim - I posted this on Jim's thread, but do let's make sure we keep in sync. It would be pretty bad if he sculpted something not allowable, or if there was a detail we needed to remain in sync on that we missed.
  16. Sweet! Jim - please keep us posted with details as you go so we can ensure that what you do and the CRL are in alignment. Mind if I take this post and start a new thread specifically for the R1 TK to keep it separate from the DT?
  17. Since the original thread was made by Karin who no longer offers these, you can go to Clive's excellent resource thread. It's great to see the torch being passed to good hands. Karin - you will forever be remembered as the Queen of Hand Guards on FISD. Probably nearly every trooper who is using latex hand guards is because of you!
  18. These are all good questions. The reality is that as a GML (garrison membership liaison), we cannot discriminate on the make of armor so long as it complies with the 501st standards and fits you correctly. However that said, you should be fully aware that "recasting" as we describe it hurts our membership and the Legion as a whole, and is not condoned and as a 501st entity we equally do not condone recasting. The other reality is that most recasters have horrible service and poor quality, which is why they sell stuff on the cheap. As Joseph mentions, in order to get on the list on the first page, the armor make must be "conflict free" in lineage, and also the sellers have had over a year of an established track record of quality, service, and integrity. In other words, if you buy from the list you can't go wrong. If you get something else, it's buyer beware and you could find yourself buying a kit that can't be made acceptable due to softness/quality issues, or you may never get your stuff. Does that fully answer your question? There are many threads (some pinned) on the ethics (or lack thereof) of recasting, so we'll not belabor them here.
  19. Wow! That is one amazing costume!
  20. Thanks Brian. As much fun as it has been to be the CRL model all these years, I do believe that a CFO suit with ANH bucket will be the superior suit. While mine was made to Centurion standards, the Centurion program didn't really exist back then, thus my lack of award. I hope you get it.
  21. FWIW, the CRLs are for 501st acceptance & EI/Centurion awards. How you troop though is up to you, e.g. most people won't notice the difference between an ANH & ESB blaster, so...
  22. PROGRAM OVERVIEW Expert Infantryman status is not required for members of this detachment. It should be viewed as an optional set of requirements for those who wish to take the accuracy of their costumes to the next level, and be recognized accordingly. We're a costuming club - think of it as an award for costuming excellence and you get the picture. The requirements will not replace or supersede 501st standards, but only serve as an inspiration for the level of accuracy that can be achieved. The standards are meant to be high but achievable, and any changes to the standards will need to be approved by the DL. Changes should remain fairly static. Annual changes at the most are preferred, and ideally they would be adjusted only every 2-3 years.
