Great to see you on the boards Nathan. For those of you who are "young" in the sense of SW costuming, Nathan is also a fantastic painter and detailer of blasters as well. I'm confident anything he produces will be highly coveted. Hope to see more thoughts pour in. Nathan - as always please feel free to post any pix or status updates here as often as you like.

TK-20693 Requesting ESB EI Clearance (RS)
Daetrin replied to Rogue8's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
?? What repair do you mean? I looked through the posts and didn't see any feedback of items for him to fix. -
Hey everyone - question here for one of my garrison-mates who has RT armor and wants to go Centurion, however is concerned about the mods needed for the arms/legs, e.g. what to do about cover strips. What are people doing that has worked without compromising the structural soundness of the build (e.g. as-is, they are pretty bullet proof)? Are you: 1. Just putting a new cover strip on the raised edge 2. Cutting off the raised edge entirely, butt joining, and putting a cover strip on? 3. Something else? Thanks everyone!

There is a lot of shadow. I'd try for a better one.
-
So, when can we see someone making an FO flashlight for approval
-
Yes, all 3 colors made it in to the film. The black pauldron guy is also seen talking to Kylo during the Resistance attack, and then Kylo tells him to pull the division out. Thanks Clint for that screen cap - I missed that reference for the black pauldron. And yeah, we'll also have to allow scuffing/light weathering on the CRL as an option.
-
Tony, if you can provide good resolution front/back photos, we can get the IPM team to clean them up, or Eric may decide to have the LMO team do that. Here is when it was 97% done, but I'm sure you want the one that is 100% done. Also, we'll need text to support it, like: L1: * The vest shall be black. * It shall have 5 lower black pouches, and three upper pouches with white armor plates. * There are three straps total, two that attach to the upper front corners and cross in the back, and one that is attached on the bottom that runs around the torso L2 * Outside two black pouches should have front folding closures. * The three inner pouches hall have two horizontal webbing straps on them. That can be a good start for now.
-
For basic approval, the pauldron and SE-14C are already approvable. We need to add the vest, Jakku pack and heavy canon. When we get to L2 or L3 as part of the CRL re-write, then that is where we start specifying that the configuration must match a screen seen supported one. I haven't gone through the full movie in detail, but I couldn't see anyone with an ammo pouch that I recall.
-
OK, we just need a good shot of it then. We can also say that for L1 the monopod need not be extendable, but for L2/L3 it will need to be. Sound right?
-
That is the one I was thinking of, though during the escape sequence two others are holding that weapon - one takes it out of a pack of weapons and uses it freehand.
-
When Finn & Po escape, there are at least 3 people using the monopod, all 3 have a pistol on their thigh, and one has the heavy vest. I didn't see any with the stand, but maybe I missed something elsewhere in the movie?
-
Oh, and I meant both for the vest as well as the pack. For both having a full on + 3/4 shot works well. I'm sure Eric (Darth Aloha) can't wait to add those to the CRL as optional add-ons. For L2/L3 though, we'd have to start specifying them to be worn only in certain groups together.

That would be awesome. Ideally they are on a neutral background to make photoshopping easier.

TK-8020 Requesting ANH Stunt Centurion status [TM] [326]
Daetrin replied to Daetrin's topic in Request Centurion Status
Good point - I'll try to work on that. Alas the shoulder straps are glued low down in front - ideally I could get a replacement chest/back/straps and re-glue them differently to better fit my body. Not sure how TM is on replacement parts though.. -
No worries. I'm sure whatever he feels about the 501st, it's reciprocal.
-
No worries at all Jim. FWIW, when Matt puts his mind to it, he makes fantastic armor and helmets. The problem is only that he also has had a habit of giving the finger to 501st people in general, and also taking money and not delivering. I truly hope you get what you agreed to, as a good set of TE armor will easily be worth it.

TK-8020 Requesting ANH Stunt Centurion status [TM] [326]
Daetrin replied to Daetrin's topic in Request Centurion Status
Hey Jeff: 1. The pink padding is to keep my kidney from flaring inwards towards the small of my back. In my last TE2 TK, I actually used padding in the back of my back plate & butt plate, but I tried that on the TM and after several attempts, found that just needed two squares in the kidney. 2. Personally I find the updated visual guides highly useful. When I first went EI I had the items memorized, but with there being so many things for Centurion it would be easy to forget something, and more critically to know everything that the DO's wanted. This kit was already EI when I got it and most of the way to Centurion, but even still it showed me what was left to do. -
Which kit are you getting?
-
FWIW, I didn’t stand in any lines either. No panels, no waiting 3 hours for the store items (which just want on EBay in hours afterwards), or special trailers (which are all on YouTube now). I think my longest wait was to ship the space trooper pack home, which was about 5 minutes. Still thought it was a let down. In C7 we had all those new costumes and a cool trailer to talk about, plus a lot of good new info in panels. In C6 (2012) we had the large sets and a killer bash, and Clone Wars was all the rage. C5 was epic with all the large sets and the bash was epic. For C8 there was nothing new at all. Nothing that wasn’t already seen at a previous Celebration. And the artist section was small. In previous Celebrations there was always something new and exciting. - The Bash was substandard. Totally not worth the $100. The music was too loud, there was no finger food, and so I ended up standing out in the lobby nearly the entire time. The banquet was also staid, with the table gift not really much to write home about. So in short if you had been to C7, there was no reason to go to C8 really. The sad part is that they should have really come in with great EP8 items, but failed. For the FISD group photos, unfortunately there was the decision to do the ladies shot before the EI/Centurion, so by the time that was done most of the EI had left. For C9 FISD group shot, we should tell people ahead of time what the sequence would be, and have some poster board or similar signs to hold up so people know which photo will be taken. If you had gone to C7, then there is no reason to have gone to C8.

TK-8020 Requesting ANH Stunt Centurion status [TM] [326]

They are the TM taller shins. I can't get the normal ATA/TE2 ones to fit, so even on older suits I used RT shins. I actually look like a stormtrooper now (not so much black), but for the first time understand what restricted mobility most people have -

Ha ha! You know how FISD works, I get no specials when it comes to this type of thing. I'm happy to take my lumps and also my place in line. To be honest I'm pretty nervous too. It's been so long since I got my EI's that I forgot how much on pins and needles one can be. I will say having the template to follow made it *way* easier in terms of knowing what pictures to submit. -

Helmet lens color Helmet "S" seal Neck Seal Forearms wrist side Kidney notch Is this good enough? Interior strapping For the interior strapping, as you know this was adjusted at the con. What I will do is to remake nearly all the straps as for the ones used, many were shortened via knots. Also, the foam was there as part of trial/error. I'm going to cut out proper squares of grey or black foam. That said, I did do 4+ hours in armor with no issues, so at least I know what the lengths need to be. Please do let me know if you need anything else.
