Correct, we can... 1. Go text only initially 2. People can get approved even with no CRL However #2 would require someone actually having done the costume, and if we have #2 then #1 is a miss as we'd have a full CRL Rest assured the getting even a text only CRL is a high priority for the next 6 weeks.

FYI, you can actually submit this costume via your GML to the LMO/DL team for review, even without a completed CRL. While we can get the text prepped, has anyone completed any of the armor parts? IIRC we don't even have a model yet. While we can publish a text only CRL, it's really best if we have photos.

Hi everyone, First off, I want to thank everyone for your support and faith in me to make 2017 a great year for FISD and every stormtrooper in the Legion. I do not take getting elected – even an uncontested election - for granted in the least. Yes, I founded FISD and was the DL for many years, but I never looked at getting elected as a “gimme”, or to mean that I can coast this year. I would not have run if I did not feel I could give it my primary attention, unquestioned loyalty, and best effort. After several years as DL, I was feeling a bit burned out. I was out of ideas, getting a little tired of Legion politics, and felt stepping away would be good for both myself and the detachment. After a much needed break, I found that my passion for stormtrooper costuming and FISD in general were rekindled, and there is so much I want to accomplish this year, and give back to the community. I feel truly blessed to have been given this opportunity to serve you once more. For 2017 we have a lot of events to support this year: • Star Wars Celebration VIII in Orlando • Release of Episode VIII this winter • 40th Anniversary of the release of Star Wars in May • 20th Anniversary of the Legion Can you say merch? Oh yeah! And of course, lots of other special ways to celebrate these key milestones for sure. In addition there are some key initiatives I’m highly passionate about driving to completion: CRL Work I will to create a team to power through this to clear out a long backlog. I know everyone has been patient, but it's time to move forward. Some of the top priorities include: • Rogue One Stormtrooper completed. • Heavy Weapons Trooper updates. • ROTJ rivet question • Reviewing EU trooper costumes based on video games, such as the Battlefront Magma Trooper, where there is not a CRL yet • ANH Space Pack for ANH TK's New Merchandise (some key items) • March to 1000 Expert Infantry: we’ll have something special to help incentivize troopers, including something for people who help others go EI. • Special items for Celebration and 40 years of Star Wars. • Joint Ops Coin for SpecOps (we did one for MEPD) • New EI coin (as we haven’t done one for a bit) Forum Upgrades (way overdue) • Upgrade to the latest version of forum software including…wait for it…a new skin! • Bulk move TFA build threads to open boards now that all the secrecy is gone. • Review & re-org content, get rid of areas that have little content. Yes, there will be a point person for this, besides me. • Fix EI/Centurion pages Other areas of Excellence Your idea here! Seriously. Usually some of the best ideas we get are from you, our members. I really do want to hear from everyone what would make FISD a better resource, and a better community, for our membership. 2017 Staff No man can run the detachment alone, it takes a strong team. I’m very pleased that so many of the existing staff are returning for this year. It’s my honor to present: Leadership Team Detachment Leader (DL): Me (Daetrin) Executive Officer (XO): Tim (Dark CMF) Merchandise Officer (MBO): Wyatt (TK-4205) Deployment Officer (DO): Andrew (Sly11) Deployment Officer (DO): Tony (ukswrath) Deputy Deployment Officer: Steve (gazmosis) Provost Marshall (PM): Mark (captsafe66) Provost Marshall (PM): Eric (tolo) Personnel Officer (PO): AC (Novatie) Public Relations (PRO): TBD Deputy Public Relations: Evan (holnave) Attaché Ambassador (AA): Joseph (justjoseph63) CRL Director (CD): TBD Web Team Webmaster: Jeroen (Svache) Development: Mathias (Locitus) Server Admin: Eric (Darth Aloha) Thank you so much to Tim and the entire 2016 staff for a fantastic year. FISD has continued to grow and remains a well-respected detachment. The newsletters and outreach were very well done, and they all deserve our sincerest thanks and appreciation. I’m very excited to get started and look forward to making 2017 the best year yet. Please always feel free to post or PM anytime with ideas on how we as your 2017 staff can help. Or, simply volunteer. If there is an area that you are passionate about, just let me know as we are always looking to bring new people on board. FISD is far larger now than it was 11 years ago. While the staff can chart direction, often the best work comes from new team members. My goal is nothing less than to ensure that FISD is the best home a Legion stormtrooper can wish for, and I look forward to a great year. With unquestioned loyalty, Paul “Daetrin” TK-8020

Alas, "this quarter" could easily be March 31st.

ROTJ CRL Dilemma.....What should I do?
Daetrin replied to sskunky's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Thanks for your patience - we're done with elections and setting things up for the near year. I realize this has taken way longer than it should, but I'll ask for a few more days svp. -
Battlefront Magma Trooper Pack Build V2
Daetrin replied to CrookKnight's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
OK. Let your GML know that it will need to get submitted on the Legion boards to the GML area of the forums, and there is a topic specifically for costumes with no CRL. There is already one BF magma trooper there, so you and Andreas will want to get yours in. The sooner we get good CRL photos, the sooner we can get a CRL. That said, they can still get 501st approval while the CRL is in progress. Does that make sense? -
Battlefront Magma Trooper Pack Build V2
Daetrin replied to CrookKnight's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Sweet. Have you submitted to your GML yet? I saw one BF Magma go through the LMO forum but no others. -
That is pretty cool
-
It's an expanded universe (EU) costume regarding Joker Squad. It's the only fem TK armor that is 501st approved as it appeared in comic book sources.

Battlefront Magma Trooper Pack Build V2
Daetrin replied to CrookKnight's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
IIRC the shins are supposed to be grey? IIRC you were re-painting them - were they completed? -
Can't wait to see more pix

Wait, is that you in her armor? J/K! Great news - congrats

Nice - thanks for offering! I don't have bandwidth to play, but will honor a bounty for high quality screen caps that we can use as reference.

Accurate Film Undersuit Rogue 1 thoughts?
Daetrin replied to Tk5150's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
I think the covering strip detail on the bicep is interesting - it's not joining the gap, it's just on one part of it. I wonder if they did it this way to make them easier to pop on/off? If it's on the other suits, will truly make these easier to build in some respects. -
Wow, good catch!

Just another F-11D blaster build
Daetrin replied to tennantlim's topic in Weapons of the First Order
Over-engineering? I call it bar-raising -
Agreed - we are truly blessed. I can see the possibility of us running several of these - they are too good to not be used!

Incorrect. The detachment name has ever been "1st Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment" since I wrote the charter in 2006. Somewhere along the way FISD was born because 1ISD just looked silly I guess. This is why on all detachment merch you may see FISD, but you'll never see First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment". Hope that helps EDIT: It was originally "1st Imperial Stormtrooper Corp", however the year before we started the Legion created a rule that all new detachments had to have the word "detachment" in it, so I just swapped out Corp for Detachment on the charter. Why 1st? Because the 501st Clonetroopers in EP3 had the blue "i" on their chest, and I wanted to use the same iconography in our logo to show continuity that we were still troopers of the 501st Legion. In the Army they use Roman numerals for Corp, e.g. I Corp = 1st Corp, V Corp = 5th Corp. Since we are using the i, then we had to be 1st Corp. OK, maybe TMI, but that's the full story.

Rubber Gloves -vs- Nomex
Daetrin replied to vortex512's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I have both and for me it's troop/weather dependent. Usually I like the nomex for comfort, but if I know I have to dial it up, rubber is the way to go. -
FWIW, I dig the use of using FISD colors to denote the detachment, rather than using our logo directly.

Good question! Here are the answers: Yes, 1. It shall say Celebration VIII or Celebration 8 with Orlando. 2. It shall say FISD or "1st Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment" somewhere on it. 3. It does not need to have 501st or 501st Legion anywhere thereon. 4. You can use the year, 2017. 5. Actually it's best if there is no Disney character references (e.g. Mickey Mouse ears). If you use Orlando, FL the text is fine. If you use just Orlando, then having the outline of the state somewhere, even if small, is a nice idea. It can instead be a patch. T-shirts are more expensive and people tend to have plenty of them. People collect patches and also sew them on to gear bags, lifer jackets, etc. so are more flexible. On a t-shirt though, in lieu of using the FISD logo, you can put a small "stepping out" trooper FISD logo somewhere. Not required, but nice to have.

Man, the wait is tough, but I'm sure will be worth it
