  1. Disappointed, but not surprised
  2. Wow, that's one pretty blaster. Good thing he's doing plastic - I had two horrible experiences with resin (e.g. expensive breaks). Would never do resin again, ever.
  3. Do you have a picture? I'm just curious how much space there is between the splits and the plastic?
  4. FYI, Glen will need to create his own thread in the relevant section and mention the links from there.
  5. The other option besides sanding is - as a last resort - simply painting the armor in toto.
  6. What a fantastic idea! Man, wish I had thought of it back in the day - can you imagine having 1 photo from every troop, and then doing this? After a bunch of years, it will be even more impressive. What a great start!!
  7. Hey Matthew - how would you reckon the quality is?
  8. Wow, the progress is progressing nicely. Good job so far
  9. I wonder how many people will just make spare bells & get a 2nd hand helmet and troop with this guy until updated parts come out?
  10. Many people do different things with strapping systems too, or putting speakers in their chest. Take a look at old bucket threads, some like me having nothing in them. Some have more money in their helmet than the helmet cost.
  11. Unless you like sweaty hands! Seriously for some short troops in cool areas you may get away with not having them.
  12. You must be tall (> 6'). You can also cut the cod, add a spacer, and glue it together. It will be hidden by the belt if the fixes from Mathias aren't enough.
  13. I hope it works out well for either other. Putting together an ANH TK kit takes time as it is, but anyone wishing for an FOTK will start to get squeezed as we get closer to TLJ opening.
  14. I'll see if I can get these re-hosted elsewhere. Should be easy enough, it's just that PhotoBucket has been a real PITA and even the direct links don't like to work, e.g. copying/pasting them. I'll try plan B...
  15. And, if you are helping someone with their EI & Centurion, DO make sure you log it in your Detachment Armorer progress page. Yes, shameless plug...
  16. It depends on the trooper and the event. If there are a lot of kids around, I am more chatty. If it's mostly adults, I try to stay in character.
  17. Man, talk about grit. This is probably one of the most "never gonna give up" threads in a long time. Makes my minor tweaks look really, really minor. Keep that chin up
  18. Combined July and August's Newsletter as we missed July and halfway through August. http://i.imgur.com/G3ninZq.png http://whitearmor.net/images/newsletter2015/inthisissue.png In Memoriam From the DL Around the Detachment Notable Troops Advanced Tactics Awards Follow FISD http://whitearmor.net/images/newsletter2015/fromthedetachmentleader.png From the DL August is certainly the time us Americans as well as Europeans take off for vacation. There are no major holidays (US at least), the kids are out of school, and everyone seems to be outdoors. For the 501st that means a very busy trooping calendar, and for your FISD staff we are no exception. This month's newsletter is pretty light and there hasn't been much progress on our initiatives. With the cooler weather returning in the Autumn and the return of regular schedules, here is what to expect for the fall quarter on FISD: CRL Updates Magma, HWTv2, and the R1 deployed troopers are all moving to MEPD. We'll help them get those to done as best we can, as they started here and want to assist our dirty brothers. HWTv1: I went through it and we'll probably change some wording to ensure it's clear this CRL is only for the original game, not the new ones. R1 TK: We'll get this done on a big push. All we are waiting on now is photos and someone to submit their fully built suit. TFA TK & Phasma: We'll get EI & Centurion standards squared away. Merch A SpecOps/FISD joint coin design should be complete, and also watch for a new regular coin run as we are out of EI coins. Forum updates The goal is to fix the EI/Centurion list page and also provide a real-time list of Attaches. Honestly, I think that will keep everyone busy for the fall but we are always looking for good ideas. What do you think the staff should be working on the rest of the year? With unquestioned loyalty, Paul “Daetrin” TK-8020 FISD Detachment Leader http://whitearmor.net/images/newsletter2015/aroundthedetachment.png COMPETITIONS 2 New Contests! We have 2 new contests open... One for those who already have their 501st TK approval, and one for those who are in the process of building their first set of armor. Entering is easy, and there is some cool swag to be given away. Both contests end at the end of August, and the winners will be selected by our Imperial Attache team. For more information, here are the links to the threads: Good luck! Our goal is to reach the one thousand mark of Troopers who have earned their Expert Infantry Badge, and although we are well on our way to this goal, we only have 5 months left to successfully reach it. The amount of approved submissions is increasing (almost 80 this year alone) thanks to the dedication of those willing to go the "extra mile" toward screen accuracy. Here is a brief description of EIB as written by Paul (Daetrin), our founder: "Expert Infantryman status is not required for members of this detachment. It should be viewed as an optional set of requirements for those who wish to take the accuracy of their costumes to the next level, and be recognized accordingly. We're a costuming club - think of it as an award for costuming excellence and you get the picture. The requirements will not replace or supersede 501st standards, but only serve as an inspiration for the level of accuracy that can be achieved. The standards are meant to be high but achievable..." Besides the added pride you will have in your armor, those reaching this level can purchase exclusive EIB gear (patches, decals, etc.) and get a free certificate for your accomplishment. If you are interested or would like more information about the program, there is a link below** that will help. You can also contact myself or any Imperial Attaché, and we will be more than happy to assist you! ** https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/35371-eib-and-centurion-what-do-these-terms-mean/ With Unquestioned Loyalty, Joseph Pedigo TK-10963 "justjoseph63" FISD Amabassador http://whitearmor.net/images/newsletter2015/followfisd.png Don't Forget We're on Facebook and Twitter! 19. Er, yeah, how could you get your EI if you aren't even a 501st TK? Gimme your TKID and I can hook you up direct.
  20. Agreed. Looks right, flies right. Heck, most people troop with nomex gloves. As long as they are all black, you should be good.
  21. My vote is for taller too. what is the difference in price btw?
  22. Solid advice on the paint, and great that you are doing it yourself. I think I had my wife do mine on my old AP.
  23. I'm guessing they know. Where do you think Disney is getting suits from?
  24. Wow, your progress is amazing. My hat's off to you sir - quite the accomplishment
