  1. I'll have an update on this by EOD today. Sorry - it's a church in the morning/Seahawks game in the afternoon kind of day.
  2. Looks fine to me (I say this as a 6' tall trooper who know what a problem this is).
  3. I like your last one
  4. ABS as Mathias says. HIPS can be pretty nice though, more forgiving to cut and put together, usually is cheaper. Downsides is you have to paint it, and it some parts along the thighs don't hold up as well over time. That said, when it wears out, just touch up and repaint. But I'm guessing 95%+ of armor out there is ABS, and there are reasons for it.
  5. Can we be jealous? Man, sounds awesome!
  6. I would find a better place to get Krylon. Mark/AP is spot on with the paint recommendation. Rustoleum = problems.
  7. When I was a sandy everything fit in my rolling bin, and I either humped the pack or else just used bungie cord. This way you have one hand on your bin as you walk, one on your BFG. Some folks get rifle cases for the BFG and sling that. Easy peasy.
  8. Glad all this was a big help - that is music to my ears. Whether you troop 1 time a year or 100, you're a 501st Legion stormtrooper
  9. Yeah, pretty much it's TKBoots and IPB. Funny as you note he mentions plastic. Heck, I remember my Mark Cheng boots - the first I ever owned and they were patent leather. Perfect for a TK at the time and the best money could buy. TKBoots really took off after he left and we banned Elvis/Mariachi boots. One thing for sure in this hobby is that nothing ever lasts forever and the market is always getting more and more accurate and/or lower cost. Anyone remember paying $1200 for a set of FX armor - a kit! - on Ebay and thinking it was OK? Too bad they can't remain as an option.
  10. Coming along great!
  11. Yeah, like seeing Darth Maul cut in half is innocent. Smoking cadavers of Owen & Beru, burning jawas. Or how about that devastatingly emotional scene where Dumbo's mom gets locked up and he's bullied, or Bambi's mom buying it. Who didn't cry at the end of Ol' Yeller? We have Death Squad troopers and Darth Nihilus looks like that freaky serial killer from Scream. Getting married at 16 to a boy she just met like Cinderella did is not exactly being a role model either...
  12. Dude, your skills are amazing! Can't wait to see more of these costumes in the Legion.
  13. FYI, text is there as an optional accessory. Does anyone have pictures of a Phasma TD that we can use? They should look like this:
  14. "Donations" can be sent to...oh who am I kidding. Hey - you wanna help do the work? All you need is a little time. I'm sure Tim won't mind. Just take the existing CRL, tweak it, post it, and voila! A great way to earn another FISD AAM...
  15. Wow - amazing responses! Thanks everyone so much for sharing
  16. Well, there are times at a con or a longer troop where carrying a wallet/phone/glasses or even a hotel key are ideal. The neck wallet is something I like because I don't have to take my armor off to get my money and buy a coffee. The magic drop box is a nice idea if all you need is a credit card and hotel key. So if it's a canon event I go with the neck wallet, otherwise I like having a side pouch (I have a plastic one that Terry Chui made, and a leather one Darman made). This way I can put all my stuff in there (like my reading glasses) and can be gone for hours at a time, self-sufficient. I guess once I'm suited up I don't like having to take anything off to get to my things.
  17. OK, we really need to get this CRL started. My direction to the staff was to first re-write the FOTK so that it had EI/Centurion sections, and then we can use that as a base for the TLJTK.
  18. I have spoken to the LMO and we'll add the thermal det once we have a good picture of it as an L2 requirement, as otherwise it's not really visible in the movie. Will change to a base if we clearly see it in EP8.
  19. Thanks for all the references - seems an easy enough add.
  20. Nice! glad it worked out. When I had it on my previous suit, it was impossible for it to pop out the way you think. You had to torque it in the right way. It should hold on extremely well esp. with the TD covering the seam.
  21. Pfft, pfft. Is this thing on? Calling Dr. Waychoff, Dr. Hoeffer, Dr. Waychoff... (yeah, fo' sho' once we have some good ref photos lined up. And, someone makes the costume.
  22. Agreed, I kinda like it better than the EP7. The EP8 may be a new favorite (as you guys know, I like the ESB look too...)
  23. Well, the delay sucks but on the plus the wait sounds like it would be worth it. I think the PR is fine - I mean unless you are a 501st type of person, it's the only game in town.
