Lucasfilm Retail Moratorium Lift May 2026 For most of the year we are under an embargo from Lucasfilm and can not attend retail locations unless prior approval has been given by them. At certain times of the year this embargo is lifted, generally around Movie releases, May 4th, Force Friday etc, the recent correspondence from LFL outlines the lift of the embargo: Lucasfilm has informed LEC that the retail moratorium is being lifted May 2-10. During this time, fan groups can appear in costume at retailers that sell Star Wars merchandise. All fans, costumed or otherwise, can participate with venues of their choice during this window of time with the restriction that costumed appearances must not be used in the advertising of the event or retail location. Although these appearances will be treated like open invitations, we leave it to the fan groups to independently organize around these events as they see fit. Lucasfilm will not need to approve or coordinate these. Please note that retail locations should not include restaurants, bars, or venues with no apparent reason to feature Star Wars characters. Costumed fans should not pose with merchandise or use the appearance to promote a specific product. In the coming weeks, we may send out a list of ‘preferred’ retailers from certain regions who would welcome fans to participate at their venues within these event windows, but you are all still welcome to make plans with appropriate retailers or venue hosts of your choice regardless of whether or not they appear on the list. In addition to the retail appearance lift, Lucasfilm is happy to allow fan groups to make appearances at their local theaters during the theatrical run of The Mandalorian and Grogu. Appearances should be limited to the theatre lobby and should not be advertised prior to appearance. Fan groups are allowed to word directly with their local theaters to schedule these appearances. Lucasfilm may send out invitations on behalf of theater chains that are interested in costumed fan appearances. Appearances are subject to whatever rules are in place at the local theater and it will need to be made clear that you are fans in costumes and not official Star Wars character appearances. *REMEMBER* Always follow your garrison/squad/outpost guidelines when it comes to organizing Disney/LFL promotional troops, only command staff should deal directly with LFL.

There are many free online image hosting providers, we were mainly using Imgur BUT UK members no longer have access, Flickr is another free host. Ultimately it is entirely up to your GML (garrison membership liaison) who will approved/deny your costume, we can only advise you on any corrections you may need before seeking GML approval. I would suggest how long would depend on what they have going on in their lives, some check accounts several times a day, some only every week or so. We have also just gone through elections, positions may have been changed, with that access to email accounts may need to be changed over and verified so it may take a little time.

SDS is not as accurate as other suppliers and does need some work so it meets the CRL's A nice SDS update thread here You can find supplier information here There are a few suppliers who offer ready made armor.

I don't have anything extra on my cod/posterior and had no issues to date. On the cod I do have an extra snap glued in place to help hold the elastic. Correct side rivets are not needed until centurion. I have an abs strip behind both sets of rivets mainly to stop the pulling through the elastic From the CRL: L3 Centurion OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable): Three rivets, approximately 5/16"(8mm) diameter, are present on the left side of the abdomen armor.

Depending on which armor make, screen use had 1 large tab and 41/2 to 5 small tabs. Some makes won't allow this as the chest ridge can be higher. You can also trim off the large rear tab if they cover correctly and have enough length. As seen in the photos below, there are no large tabs on the rear of the shoulder bridges. This is not specifically mentioned in the CRL, but removing them is highly recommended if possible. It is advisable to glue the front of the straps when you have the rear backplate in situ so they sit correctly, I use a small tall box between the chest and back so all is in alignment. Clamps, magnets and tape can be handy to have around

It can get hot very quickly if you are standing in place for some time or in larger groups like conventions, screen can fog up very quickly. Having a little breeze across your face can make you feel a lot cooler, trick of the mind I think. I've tried a few fans like what you show but found they don't direct enough air compared with the blower fans. My setup. I have two blower fans (squirrels) 50mm x 15mm 5V and that's important, any higher volt and you they can scream. I use 4 x AA 1.2 V rechargeable batteries (4.8 V total). Both fans are wired separately, I only use one at a time, the other is for backup. I tested the rechargeable batteries the other day for a new helmet project, the fan ran for just under 8 hours before needing recharging. Using standard AA batteries the fan will run for a lot longer, I just hate throwing away batteries. Also I add flywire mesh to the outside of the blower fan intake, especially required for those with facial hair

Note in this image your chest is sitting higher than your backplate, this will be causing the shoulder straps to bulge. I would try to bring your chest down a little and see if that reduces the bulge, shoulder strap should have a curve and sit flush with the backplate. Wrinkling you will normally find is either due to paint not fully cured, too thick and takes too long to dry or mixing different types of paint. For most of my props I can get away with using RustOleum paints which are a bit cheaper than others here. For A+++ spec helmet and armor I use automotive acrylic, it's very forgiving, dries fast and with clear coats can be sanded and buffed, a lot of enamels don't like being buffed and melt or come off in layers. With joining sections I try to add a slight V to the pieces so glue get's right in, Gorilla superglue I've been having a lot of success with. When I first started I'd add a V cut and fill and join the parts with a 3d printing pen, but I found the glue a lot easier and quicker to use. For holding pieces I use gaffa tape and wire, what ever works. I have a separate undercover folding washing line which is just used to hang sprayed parts. At the end of the day it's all learning curve and what ever way works for you and what ever is available near you. Definitely leave it for a long time before you sand as it could come off in layers if not fully dry

Condolences to his garrison, family and friends "Buckets Off" Sharon Hertzig fought a courageous battle with cancer and on March 12, 2022 (date is correct), lost her battle, with her sword in her hand, whilst surrounded by her family and friends. She was married to her best friend, Eric Hertzig, for 22 years before they travelled different paths. Sharon had a light that shone brightest for her children; Elden (Misty) Hertzig and Erin Dailey; brother, James Henriksen Jr; and grandson, Darrien Dailey. Her memory lives on in the laughter and stories shared by her friends and family made and found through the years. A lover of animals, singing, dancing, Sharon was also a proud member of the 501st Legion and Society for Creative Anachronism. She lit up every room she walked into and made a friend of every person she met. Sharon during her time with the legion was a member of the Alabama and the Alpine garrisons. Condolences to her garrison, family and friends "Buckets Off" On October 31, 2025, Mountain Garrison lost one of our Royal Guards when Justin Conner TKID-58696 passed away peacefully in his sleep. Born in the summer of 1977, perhaps it was inevitable that Justin would become a life-long Star Wars fan. His brother Josh (TKID-92041) remembers that they both always loved the red Royal Guards. When Josh joined the 501st Legion and Mountain Garrison in 2020, he tempted his younger brother Justin into joining a year later by encouraging him to build the Royal Guard that they both so admired. Quiet, protective, and fiercely loyal, Justin personified the Royal Guard. He especially enjoyed having the opportunity to troop as a guard with Darth Vader. Justin brought a great sense of humor and positive energy to events, even holding a “Palpatine” sign at an airport troop as if waiting for the Emperor himself to disembark from an incoming flight! Away from the 501st, Justin enjoyed costuming in other fandoms as well. Whether it was as a pirate, “Bender” from Futurama, or a well-dressed Easter Bunny, Justin derived great enjoyment from dressing to embody characters that he liked. In the “real” world, Justin was a proud veteran, loving uncle, and devoted friend. He shared his passions with friends and family, even upgrading his pirate costume especially for a god-daughter’s wedding. Justin is survived within Mountain Garrison by his brother Joshua Conner and his brother-by-choice Adam Ward (TKID-21455). Mountain Garrison was honored to be asked by the family to attend Justin’s grave-side memorial service at Ft. Logan National Cemetery on December 2, 2025 to honor his memory in costume. We were proud to have his niece and nephew join us in costume for their uncle’s memorial. Teenagers now, both are planning on joining when they reach 18 in his honor. He showed up for people — not loudly or for recognition, but consistently, genuinely, and with heart. Brad lived his life guided by service and passion. Many of us knew him through his dedication to volunteering, where he gave his time freely to bring joy, comfort, and hope to others. For Brad, helping people wasn’t an obligation — it was a privilege. He believed that giving back was one of the most meaningful ways to make the world better, and he lived that belief fully. Brad’s love for Star Wars wasn’t just about the stories or the characters — it was about what they represented. Through his years of involvement with the 501st Legion, Brad embodied those ideals. Wearing his costumes, he wasn’t pretending to be a hero — he was one. He brought smiles to children, comfort to families, and light to moments when it was needed most. Currently the Master Armorer program has the requirement of helping a minimum of 5 members achieve Expert Infantry status. The member must have spent at least 30min physically helping another member with cutting, gluing, sizing, etc, just because they want to help (no money exchanged). There are 3 levels of the award, FISD Armorer, FISD Senior Armorer and FISD Master Armorer. The new program will add a 4th level at the beginning called the Apprentice Armorer. The point scale will be as follows. 5 points - Apprentice Armorer 10 points - Armorer 20 points - Senior Armorer 30 points - Master Armorer If you love building armorer and love helping fellow members get their costumes built, then this is the program you’ve been searching for. More information can be found here Want to setup a "Fire Team? the Fire Team program is completely optional, and is intended to help form a common identity and spirit of camaraderie among 501st Legion Stormtroopers in the same geographic area/garrison that troop together. Ok I had a mintue free. Area just over the ear there is a small gap which shouldn't be present, the ear should have a small step and goes over the rear section. Also the raised lines on the ear greeble should fill the square area a little more, yours is a touch narrow. You will also need to recess the traps as yours are flush.

Happy to go over this, I've got a bit on the next few days (possible garrison staff changes) but will definitely get to it by the weekend. If your happy to allow access to the files that may help.
