Need Help Ask the Deployment Officers Advance to 1500 Advanced Tactics Awards Social Media Newsletter Editor Staff List 2023 Follow FISD Greetings one and all to the first FISD Newsletter for 2024! 2023 had its ups and downs for everyone, so I hope this new year is going to be fabulous for all. As we begin to close out on this term, a reminder to all that the Legion election cycle will begin on the 29th of January and conclude with the close of voting on February 13th. Full Election cycle details can be found further down in this edition. Our DMBO officer TK-12953 (James) has done an outstanding job this term in brining some beautiful merch items to you all, but wait, there is more to come, so better get those imperial credits ready because he hasn't finished yet!! That's right, more excitement coming soon, just in case you haven't had your fill yet. Small CRL Update The Rogue One TK and associated costumes (Artillery Trooper and soon to be Night trooper), have just undergone a small update at basic level. This update was made to allow the 2 major versions of the ammo belt worn, as seen in both the movie and TV series. The changes are as follows. The R1 belt has a front and rear plastic section. The CRL asked that these were overlapped on the sides a specific way. On screen, we see it overlapped front over back and back over front, so now the CRL simply states it is overlapped on the sides. You chose which way to overlap it. The belt overlaps on the sides The second small change was to allow the lower lip of the belt to be trimmed, as per many screen references. Some were trimmed and some were not, but both are seen as commonly as each other. The bottom edge of the front belt may run flat across the belt, or may be trimmed at an angle near the cod armor to match screen references. Some screen references showing the different trimming of this lower lip. No trimming Trimmed That's the update for January, see you all again in the final addition for the term. With Unquestioned Loyalty Andrew Franke TK-11469 "Sly11" Detachment Leader Greetings Trooper! I hope everyone's New Year is off to a good start. Legion election season is right around the corner, so be sure to check your Detachment status so that you are eligible to vote for the next DL here or in any of your affiliated Detachments, Squad or Garrison. The #SecretMerchItem was appears to have been success. While the run is closed. This run was managed by Pfab, and the last I heard, it may be March before we start seeing these coins due to the shut down in China for the Chinese New Year. I don't have any additional information to share at this time. If I get word about shipping dates or anything, I will update the thread here: Secret Merch Item As of December 29th, the patches have been completed by the factory and are undergoing QC. I'm eagerly awaiting their arrival at my home so I can begin sorting, packing and shipping to membership. Hopefully by the time the newsletter is published, they will have started shipping to members. I will provide updates in the thread located here: 2023 Patch Run The EI and Centurion rockers are still available, Thanks again to @MaskedVengeance for helming this run. For those that qualify the run can be found here: Rocker patches. With the Legion year closing, be sure to order any stickers that you may have been wanting ASAP from Assassin Graphics site. We don't know if they will be renewed next year, all information about how to order them can be found here: 2023 FISD Stickers Now that we've covered the old stuff... With the Legion year coming to a close, I have created the first annual DMBO (Detachment Merchandise & Branding Officer) End of year merch sale. I have collected some extra items and am looking to sell them to fund buying extra items for next year. Normally I buy a few extra items during each merch run in order to offer them to new members, but as I didn't get many request this year, it is time to sell these off. You can learn more about the sale here: 1st Annual DMBO Merch Sale We have two more Merch Items in the works for this legion year. I will post more information about them soon as I have approval from LMBO and LFL. Unfortunately, they will be short runs, as they have to be completed before the end of Feb. So please be checking the forum regularly, and if you have not setup to follow the Detachment Merchandise sections to get email alerts for new post, I suggest that you do so. If you have any thoughts, suggestions, comments or concerns about FISD Merch or Branding, my "virtual" door is always open. Hit me up, you can reach via email, forum DM, or find me on Facebook. With Unquestioned Loyalty James Silvius TK-12953 "jsilvius" Merchandise & Branding Officer With elections starting at the beginning of February it's time to check your detachment affiliation. OK so you look at your Legion profile and it shows that your detachment affiliation to FISD is pending, or otherwise incorrect. Why does this happen, and what is detachment affiliation anyway, and what will FISD do about it? The answer is that detachment affiliation is only ever used once a year, and for one purpose. The only time the Legion ever uses it for anything is to determine who can run for DL and who can vote in detachment elections. That's it. Otherwise it is pretty much ignored and not used for anything. The process of validating detachment membership is cumbersome and time consuming because people use different email information between their Legion and detachment logins, and that there is no way to bulk update the rosters. For a small detachment it is not a big deal to do this manually, but for a detachment the size of FISD with hundreds and soon thousands of 501st members, it's impossible. Fortunately we have technical folk both on FISD and in the Legion web team. Once a year they take a feed from FISD's database and do a bulk update on the Legion database. This occurs right before the election cycle starts and is done once per year. Pro tips: 1) Ensure the email address you use on the Legion & FISD boards are the exact same. 2) Ensure that your FISD profile has the correct TKID. 3) IMPORTANT! You MUST be in the right security group. It should be "501st Stormtrooper" in order for the automated system to pull you over. This thread is where you get your detachment access updated. 4) If after the bulk update is complete and your profile is still not updated, and you are 100% sure your info is in sync between the two boards, then ask for to the Legion web team. They should get feedback on why this isn't working. 5) If all else fails, ping the FISD staff. Which basically means that we'll simply tell the 501st web team to bulk approve everyone 6) If still you have no luck you can contact the legion web team directly via email: lwm@501st.com To check detachment affiliation go to the 501st holocron here, login using your 501st forum username and password, click on YOUR PROFILE DATA, then look down the lower part of the page for YOUR UNIT AFFILIATION, then under DETACHMENT AFFILIATION. If you do not see FISD listed reach out to your GML (garrison membership liaison) as they can add it if you are an approved Stormtrooper. If FISD shows as PENDING contact our DL @Sly11 and request a manual update. 2024 Legion Election Timeline It's coming up to that time of the year again, legion elections are just around the corner. With Unquestioned Loyalty Caleb Mask TK-73692 "MaskedVengeance" Attache Ambassador The FISD Master Armorer program is an optional, detachment only incentive award to recognize individuals who have directly helped another 501st stormtrooper to achieve Expert Infantry status. Some people spend countless hours helping others, and want to reward their results as well as incentivizing new people to help as well. To register a “win” in the program, the assistance must have provided hands-on help trimming, building, and/or fitting of said armor for the person who was awarded Expert Infantry status. More information can be found here Want to setup a "Fire Team? the Fire Team program is completely optional, and is intended to help form a common identity and spirit of camaraderie among 501st Legion Stormtroopers in the same geographic area/garrison that troop together. Fire Teams are not officially recognized by the 501st Legion nor the FISD, although they will be able to access a Fire Team sub-forum on the detachment website. You can find more information here. For those interested here is the original discussion on the creation of Fire teams here With Unquestioned Loyalty Mark Ryner TK-4584 "captsafe66" Fire Team Relations So what exactly are and levels? These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! You can find more information on the programs here. For those unaware it is possible to achieve extra awards at Expert Infantry for each additional version costume you have approved, additional awards are not issued with another Expert Infantry number (you are only issued 1 Expert Infantry number) but you will see a star above the award on your profile and the thread title will show [APPROVED] 2nd, [APPROVED] 3rd, [APPROVED] 4th and so on. Multiple EIB award recipients and info here NOTE If you are approved with a "2nd Version" of a particular costume that you are already approved with you do not receive an additional award, there is only 1 award issued for each costume version ie: only 1 x Hero, 1 x Stunt, 1 x HWT, 1 x ESB, 1 x TFA and so on. If you have a second/additional version costume approved you will see "2nd Version" and [APPROVED] added to the thread title, no additional profile stars (more info on profile awards here) For those of you who have a particular issue (or issues) before or after submitting for Expert Infantry / Centurion level approval, in order to get you an answer faster you can now privately contact the entire Deployment Officer team at one time! Questions about fitting, repairs, CRL standards/requirements or anything pertaining to reaching Levels 2 and 3 are not only welcomed, but encouraged. Keep in mind that no question is too small, and that your queries will only be seen by the D.O. Staff. We are here to help in any way we can, so please feel free to send us a message by clicking on this link: @Deployment Officer Team and we will get back to you A.S.A.P.! The 1500 unquestioned loyalty! 6. One thing to keep in mind (which I see some missing) is the chest is a lot bigger than a TK chest, it also has a large neck area when compared to the TK standard chest
  7. Some use a flat 4 x AA flat pack but I found a square 4 x pack fits into the lower rim around the sides
  8. All comes down to how much free time you have, away from work and family, it's never a race but you know there is always a finish line at the end
  9. You can request a trooping award at specific milestones. looks like you should receive a 75, they can be requested here, don't forget to add a link to your troop log

  11. A few references showing the side wire coil, although unwound, this is the cantina SE-14C but the wires appears to be in the same places as the promo SE-14R Apparently this is the screen prop seen in the cantina, you can see where the wire was glued on the barrel
  12. Looking forward to seeing it

  15. Some more research find Baradium-core code key thermal detonator No O detail replaced with a belt button cover Baradium-core code key thermal detonators were special thermal detonators in use by the Galactic Republic's clone army and later used by the Galactic Empire's special ops troopers, such as stormtroopers and the dark troopers. The model had adjustable time settings, ranging from six to eighteen seconds and a small range of five meters within which all matter could be vaporized depending on the setting, or matter in a particular direction. They had activated only with the right code tapped into it; therefore, Rebels couldn't use captured explosives against them. Also, the buttons were unlabelled, which ensured that even if a Rebel discovered the code, they couldn't figure out which buttons to press in order to activate the detonator. Owing to this, stormtroopers needed to employ pattern memorization. When using the detonator, section 32.B.ST57 in the Imperial Stormtrooper Corps Field Manual mandated that the stormtrooper remove their thermal detonator from equipment clip on their lower back, then inspect the detonator for any signs of damage as well as confirm the integrity of the baradium core. They were also given strict instructions to not use it if they were in possession of a potentially unstable detonator. The stormtrooper should then estimate the target range, input the time delay and then input the activation code. Then, while standing half-facing the target, the stormtrooper was to make a lobbed, overhead throw and in the direction of the target, before promptly taking cover from the detonator blast. The stormtrooper then immediately followed up with concentrated blaster fire against the target position. According to the Imperial Handbook: A Commander's Guide, maintaining the weapons included a regular inspection for imperfections in the outer casing as well as full replacement of any damaged units, and that it could be modified to include magnetic and adhesive outer sleeves. In addition, the Rebel general Carlist Rieekan mentioned in his commentary that sometimes captured stormtroopers would trigger the detonator to avoid detainment and interrogation, although he also speculated that they may do so as a means for them to score one final kill.
  16. Ran across this in my research travels, an interesting read Imperial Sourcebook The Imperial Sourcebook, written by Greg Gorden, was released in October 1989 as part of the West End Games Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. Includes all the game statistics needed to use the might of the Empire in the roleplaying game. 144-page book features: Illustrations, photographs, maps and diagrams--some never published before! A look at the Imperial power structure since the Battle of Yavin, concentrating on the time period between Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back. Details on COMPNOR and Imperial Intelligence--the organizations that keep the war machine moving. Descriptions, illustrations and statistics for new capital ships, custom ordnance, and land vehicles. Data on support weapons, special Imperial Units and training techniques, such as the use of drop camps. Information for movie fans and game players alike on one of the most evil institutions ever portrayed in heroic fiction. The massive Order of Battle of a typical sector, detailing the true might of the Galactic Empire. PDF download available here
  17. Sounds like a plan, anyone can suggest changes to CRL's and the addition of higher level requirements is long overdue for this costume, when they are addressed is another matter and depends on how busy staff are. Once you have researched try to add text and images so they may be discussed by staff and members. I would have a look at some of the other CRL's, ANH, ESB, ROTJ compared with Legacy trooper and see which common items may be added L2 and L3 requirements. We are coming up to elections soon so this may need to be addressed by the next FISD command team dependant on how long it takes .
  18. Many of us use an Aker Amp and a Icomm static burst unit, here are other options out there but I like the simplicity of this unit. FYI you only need to ask a question once on the forum, it will be seen and answered
  19. Really pointless discussing it, depends what the next DL and command team have in mind, shame. I do agree, as LPR has found over the last few years not every country supports charities / occasions at the same time, if you can't include everyone at the same time it's really unfair to just spotlight one countries charity cause no matter how deserving.
  20. I'd suggest having a look at a few builds to see just what you are in for, some areas need to be filled, you can use ABS paste but it does take some work or you can fill with glues or filler but this would require painting, using ABS paste does not. DN kit builds: How to make ABS paste
  21. Nice work came out great. No matter how hard I try I just can't find that one elusive photo of the promo trooper side on, but I'll keep looking
  22. Another link for those down under, 3pack, available in black Quite a few come up in a Google search Picatinny SMR 416 Another link single, available in black
  23. Why not reach out and ask if it's possible, I think a few other people would be interested in that too, email is support@galacticarmory.net
