Placement Lots of variations, single snaps with V tabs on posterior plate Single snaps setup with extra connectors I tend to cut the elastic 5mm shorter than what you need, this way it has some pull and keeps the armor tight. I find using double connectors can allow you to still troop if one lets go. You can use nylon or plastic snap plates, I find the nylon easier to use as they conform better to the armor. I have strips of plastic I use when clamping the nylon snaps plates after gluing. Thread on snap setting Videos Original strapping and brackets Standard single snaps

Looking forward to seeing some BBB photos soon. This thread may be quite helpful, research while you are waiting for your kit. Good luck with the build -
You may also want to rotate the TD backwords, so the O detail can be seen No paint on gums, "Frown is painted gray and does not leave the teeth area. " You may want to touch up some of your lines, some are touching the border, also some extra paint. Tooth picks are a good tool to rub off excess paint. Your ear is also sitting higher than the other side, normally these sit down under the ridge Join of your neck seal is on the side, should be under the front or back of the helmet Drop box elastic may be too tight, usually there is a gap between them and the belt Tighter strapping on sides so the tops align and your posterior as can see a tab behind

MFX ANH Stunt armor kit + RS Helmet build (beginner)
gmrhodes13 replied to Andor_FX's topic in ANH Build Threads
I'm slim built and added a block of foam behind the abdomen so it pushes the armor out giving a more rounded appearance. Some troopers add a slot and lock system which stops the sides going over each other You may also want to try some V tabs to stop your posterior from pushing out, may reduce when you fix your sides. With a heat gun or oven you bend strips of ABS plastic into the shape of a V, only glue one side and the other remains free to allow movement when you bend. Just helps stop the butt plate from pushing back from the back plate. -
Personally I would use the E6000, yes takes longer to dry, especially under any strain (ie: using tape to twist or pull into alignment), I like to leave clamped for 48 - 72 hours. I know a few troopers that have cracked their sniper plate, one broke a corner off completely and needed to replace, CA glue would give you all the same issues you've just encountered, if you're not going to be as rough with your kit as these troopers then I guess go with the CA glue

Melissa passed away August 28, 2025. Derek was the bass player for RIVETHEAD, a Dallas based metal band that has recorded 11 albums and toured the US. Condolences to their garrison, family and friends "Buckets Off" The Dune Sea Garrison mourns the loss of one of its own with heavy hearts. On Sunday, June 15th, 2025, Heather Anda-Cabrera (TI-11189) passed. Heather was a beloved garrison member but had been a supportive wrangler for years before joining. Heather was the wife of one DSG Member, Ivan Cabrera Sr., TK-11187, and the mother of two sons, Cameron Anda and Ivan Cabrera Jr. (TK-21948). She was also a dear friend to several members of the Dune Sea Garrison. Her love and dedication to her family, friends, and Garrison will be terribly missed. Condolences to her garrison, family and friends "Buckets Of f" It is with deep sorrow and profound respect that we remember Linda Ward, a cherished member of the 501st Legion, who passed away on November 25, 2025. Linda was a beacon of kindness, generosity, and passion—a true embodiment of the spirit of our community. Linda’s involvement in the Star Wars costuming community was nothing short of extraordinary. Known for her warm and welcoming nature, she was one of the sweetest and most dedicated members of the 501st, always eager to unite fellow fans, regardless of their faction. Whether you were an Imperial, Rebel, or Mandalorian, Linda had a way of bringing everyone together. She firmly believed in the power of shared passion and worked tirelessly to build bonds within the Star Wars costuming world. She was not only a devoted 501st member but also an active participant in charity events, always eager to don her armor and contribute to something greater than herself. Whether she was part of a Jolly Roger flyby or stepping into the role of a Jedi with the Saber Guild, Linda brought a unique energy and joy to every event she attended. One of Linda’s most enduring legacies is her role in creating and expanding the Star Wars community across the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. Her vision and determination laid the foundation for what we know today as the Maryland Saber Guild. It’s no exaggeration to say that without Linda, none of this would have been possible. Her commitment to fostering a welcoming, inclusive community gave so many of us the opportunity to connect, grow, and create lifelong memories together. For Randy Ward, her husband and fellow community leader, Linda was more than a partner—she was the spark that ignited his own journey in the world of Star Wars costuming. As a member of both the Jolly Roger Squadron (JRS) and Imperial Officer Corps (IOC), Randy has shared countless moments with Linda, and it’s clear that her influence on him, and on all of us, was profound. Without her urging, Randy might never have stepped into the world of Saber Guild. Her quiet encouragement and constant support were the catalysts for so many of us to follow our passions and dreams. Linda’s spirit will live on in every costume she wore, in every event she helped organize, and in the many lives she touched with her warmth and generosity. She was not just a member of our community—she embodied the heart of it. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate her life and the legacy she leaves behind. Thank you, Linda, for your love, your friendship, and your tireless dedication to uniting us all Condolences to her garrison, family and friends "Buckets Off" Greetings Troopers, Welcome to the last newsletter of 2025, and almost the end of the term as well. This month I am proud to announce that we've had 2 new to the Legion CRLs published. This has been a long time coming and a lot of people have put in a lot of work to get here, especially the builders of these costumes. First up: Captain Enoch from the excellent Ahsoka. With Season 2 already in production this is a character I look forward seeing more of. Congratulations to @azoroes for being our CRL model. https://crls.501st.com/fisd/captain-enoch Second: Captain Cardinal. A rare burst of colour in our mostly mono-tone world Captain Cardinal is a red TFA style First Order Stormtrooper from the Phasma books. Congratulations to @astrosally who's put a lot into this build. https://crls.501st.com/fisd/captain-cardinal As the festive season draws in I have seen a number of troopers out on troops featuring non-regulation decoration, which of course none of you would ever consider. In order to buy one, you have to have an approved EI costume and you can not have ever bought an EIB coin from any pervious runs. EIB coins are a once and done coin. The Force Awakens, premiered in theatres December 18, 2015 LFL Retail Moratorium Lift For most of the year we are under an embargo from LFL and can not attend retail locations unless prior approval has been given by them. At certain times of the year this embargo is lifted, generally around Blu-Ray / movie releases, May 4th and Force Friday, the recent correspondence from LFL outlines the lift of the embargo: Lucasfilm has informed LEC that the retail moratorium is being lifted December 1 to 31. During this time, fan groups can appear in costume at retailers that sell Star Wars merchandise. All fans, costumed or otherwise, can participate with venues of their choice during this window of time with the restriction that costumed appearances must not be used in the advertising of the event or retail location. Although these appearances will be treated like open invitations, we leave it to the fan groups to independently organize around these events as they see fit. Lucasfilm will not need to approve or coordinate these. Please note that retail locations should not include restaurants, bars, or venues with no apparent reason to feature Star Wars characters. Costumed fans should not pose with merchandise or use the appearance to promote a specific product. In the coming weeks, we may send out a list of ‘preferred’ retailers from certain regions who would welcome fans to participate at their venues within these event windows, but you are all still welcome to make plans with appropriate retailers or venue hosts of your choice regardless of whether or not they appear on the list. *REMEMBER* Always follow your garrison/squad/outpost guidelines when in comes to organizing Disney/LFL promotional troops, only command staff should deal directly with LFL. While our Expect Infantry and Centurion programs get most of the attention, FISD staff wants to relaunch the Armorer Program (Currently called the Master Armorer Program). What is the Armorer Program you ask? Well, it is a program designed to recognize those troopers that go above and beyond to assist themselves and others in getting costumes built, submitted, and approved. One of the goals of all the detachments in the 501st Legion is to help members build and submit costumes that meet and hopefully exceed the minimum requirements of the Legion’s CRLs. Currently the Master Armorer program has the requirement of helping a minimum of 5 members achieve Expert Infantry status. The member must have spent at least 30min physically helping another member with cutting, gluing, sizing, etc, just because they want to help (no money exchanged). There are 3 levels of the award, FISD Armorer, FISD Senior Armorer and FISD Master Armorer. The new program will add a 4th level at the beginning called the Apprentice Armorer. The point scale will be as follows. 5 points - Apprentice Armorer 10 points - Armorer 20 points - Senior Armorer 30 points - Master Armorer If you love building armorer and love helping fellow members get their costumes built, then this is the program you’ve been searching for. We look forward to awarding more members with this award as we know how much we all love Troopers helping Troopers. More information can be found here Armorer Rocker Patches Rocker patches are now available for the Armorer Program, there is currently just the one patch, and members are eligible to receive two of them once they reach Level 2, "Armorer". More information can be found here Want to setup a "Fire Team? the Fire Team program is completely optional, and is intended to help form a common identity and spirit of camaraderie among 501st Legion Stormtroopers in the same geographic area/garrison that troop together. Fire Teams are not officially recognized by the 501st Legion nor the FISD, although they will be able to access a Fire Team sub-forum on the detachment website. You can find more information here. For those interested here is the original discussion on the creation of Fire teams here With Unquestioned Loyalty Mark Ryner TK-4584 "captsafe66" Fire Team Relations So what exactly are and levels? These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! You can find more information on the programs here. For those unaware it is possible to achieve extra awards at Expert Infantry for each additional version costume you have approved, additional awards are not issued with another Expert Infantry number (you are only issued 1 Expert Infantry number) but you will see a star above the award on your profile and the thread title will show [APPROVED] 2nd, [APPROVED] 3rd, [APPROVED] 4th and so on. Multiple EIB award recipients and info here NOTE If you are approved with a "2nd Version" of a particular costume that you are already approved with you do not receive an additional award, there is only 1 award issued for each costume version ie: only 1 x Hero, 1 x Stunt, 1 x HWT, 1 x ESB, 1 x TFA and so on. If you have a second/additional version costume approved you will see "2nd Version" and [APPROVED] added to the thread title, no additional profile stars (more info on profile awards here) For those of you who have a particular issue (or issues) before or after submitting for Expert Infantry / Centurion level approval, in order to get you an answer faster you can now privately contact the entire Deployment Officer team at one time! Questions about fitting, repairs, CRL standards/requirements or anything pertaining to reaching Levels 2 and 3 are not only welcomed, but encouraged. Keep in mind that no question is too small, and that your queries will only be seen by the D.O. Staff. We are here to help in any way we can, so please feel free to send us a message by clicking on this link: @Deployment Officer Team and we will get back to you A.S.A.P.! Looking good, a few tweaks and you are almost there. You may be able to add V tabs to your kidney/posterior to stop it pushing out With a heat gun or oven you bend strips of ABS plastic into the shape of a V, only glue one side and the other remains free to allow movement when you bend. Just helps stop the butt plate from pushing back from the back plate. As you may be able to see in this image your backplate is digging into your back and not in alignment with the chest. Your right leg on the rear has the coverstrip going the wrong way, should be outside over inside, yours is inside over outside. Belt is a little high on the back Check your TD measurements the gap and end caps width looks a little off I would change your snap, you may find it's not quite round, any distortion the smallest movement or angle it can let go. If you want to try first use some pliers and gently close trying to keep the snap round, or even slightly squared, video here -
Great thread and helpful not only for the new to trooping but also us old timers. A lot of things I recognise here as I do similar, deodoriser spray, towel for blaster (I sewed a couple of tabs of velcro to it so it stays closed). Made a pouch for the citations, normally a wrangler helps to get them out and pass the pen (darn these plastic gloves). We had some silicon wrist bands to hand out to younglings (my design) and I made a pouch to hold those too. Looking forward to seeing more

Our Goo Gone here down under will eat plastic so it may have a higher acid base. With anything it's always best to try before you apply. Once I found I had a couple of black marks on my boots and tracked it down to the microphone, had some rubber on the ear section. luckily it did rub off with some elbow grease and polish.

The hinges should move just fine. The more you play with it, the more it will loosen. PLA will work great. Some filaments will allow movement right after the print. You can also use a technique to rotate the hinges and then press the pin between your fingers to break the supports (don’t twist the pin in this case). Images:

File Name: Thermal Detonator with Electronics Designer: Oubliette Last Update:[/color][/b]05/05/2015 File: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:809004 Description: May 4th, 2015: I have made this thermal detonator prop file available to the public and do so in deepest thanks to all the great crafters and enthusiasts of the prop building and costuming communities who have supported me over the years, all the amazing artists at Lucas Arts who have inspired this design as well as made fantastic film that I have spent far too much time enjoying. Finally a big thanks to everyone out there making really cool things for others to enjoy. I firmly believe that open-source licenses on prop designs is the way to go. Everyone benefits and the community and artists can grow their skills in leaps and bounds. I've used Retr0bright on a few occasions and has worked well, only issue is the yellowing does come back overtime and you have to reapply, link: https://www.retr0bright.com/make.html
