TK-47774 Requesting ESB EIB Status (RS) (945)
gmrhodes13 replied to TKcsh's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Congratulations trooper -
KB's is a little small, most don't get the sizing quite right, doesn't have enough of the tear drop are angle inwards, but you take what you can get.

I'm hoping this wraps up the end of not just this trilogy but also brings all the movies together, sounds like that is exactly what JJ is trying to do. Will everyone be happy with the movie and how it ends, well NO we aren't the writers or directors, what will be will be, enjoy or don't but if nothing else lets not TROLL after we've seen it, no matter how we feel, it's a movie, make believe, although many of us wish it was so much more

Tips? Sanding and Repainting Anovos Kit
gmrhodes13 replied to Jayben Kenobi's topic in TFA Stormtrooper
I used automotive acrylic paint but same principals would apply no matter which paint you use, try to use the same make of paints, using different types can cause reactions. Make sure you wet sand the entire armor before applying primer (primer filler) you do not need an adhesion promoter. Using water with a little dish washing liquid helps to keep the paper from clogging as quickly and also allows the paper to glide a little better, also try to sand in circles, less chance of scratching. Once primer is applied and dry I like to scuff with 600 grit sandpaper dry, this will get rid of any little bits or imperfections that may have been stuck while applying the primer. -

Nice work I also added some electronics to my blaster, although I just hacked at it with a Dremel -
Would these snaps work?
gmrhodes13 replied to Shinyarmour1's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I use a similar snap from Spotlight but have found over the last few years the quality has dropped slightly, I do advise anyone to use the double snap method that way if you do have a failure you have a back up next to it . Also before using the tool to open the post just give a light tap with a Philips head screwdriver first, it will allow the post to open a little more, then once you have used the snap tool find a bolt head or rod which fits in the recess and tap completely flat. -
Suggesting a couple of TKC CRL Changes.
gmrhodes13 replied to Aizenoso's topic in Stormtrooper Commander
Unfortunately there was supposed to be some images changed in the last round of TKC CRL updates which had been missed, some of these you have mentioned. Just remember the CRL's are made for base acceptance so a lot of the images would be what is required for basic approval, the text also needs to be followed, specifically for higher level approvals This Visual Guide has been reviewed by the detachment staff and the LMO team and is certified for use as a minimum approval guideline for GMLs. GMLs are free to approve this costume type. This document is not intended to be a detailed how-to on costume construction; rather a visual guide to be used for 501st costume approval. Details on construction may be found on the respective costume detachment web forum. Text descriptions are only one part of the guideline. GML's and costumers must consider both text and pictures (CRL and Reference) when reviewing the costume. -
Looking sharp trooper

Differences between TFA and TLJ TK
gmrhodes13 replied to Dekard's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Forearm differences Clip recesses section also a little bigger on TLJ on helmet, but most wouldn't notice. As said it really comes down to your GML, most know about the TD but some don't, it's not a hard fix and you can actually get away with this if you can add a black cap on the end. TFA TLJ If you want to reach L2 you will also need a different cod -
Is that a crack on the bottom corner of the backplate, or could just be dirt I suppose, these guys are pretty dirty (and excited by the looks of those cods ) .

Congratulations trooper

I’ve added strengthening strips behind those side areas, they need it, will crack over time, but the more you put on the harder it is to get on. I slip one arm in first then have someone open the other side just enough to slip the other arm in. It’s always going to have some stress and there’s not much more you can do. Was thinking of having another set for non cannon troops with a hidden hinge/seam. Youll find lots of build threads where people have added strength to those areas

ANOVOS (DENUO NOVO) FOTK Armor Delivery Possibility
gmrhodes13 replied to JonnieBear's topic in TFA Stormtrooper
It was bad they missed the last movie with delivery but to miss the final in this trilogy, that’s just downright unforgivable. When anyone asks it’s a big NO to aNOvos, you guys had more than a few chances and you flippantly threw them away. -
Coming along nicely.
-
Great stuff, "no paint" that's funny Anovos. I used acrylic automotive paint, dries quickly between coats, can be clear coated and polished, it's a massive difference to Rustoleum and gives a much better shine and appearance, I have used 2K paints in the past but just didn't have the drying facilities for using it. Great looking finish, well done.

Husky68 Requesting Pre Approval Review (AP)
gmrhodes13 replied to husky68's topic in Request TK Pre-Approval
Normally doesn’t take them too long, although they are down a few staff members Congratulations trooper, well done -
Imperial boots does not have liners but I use soft cotton liners and swap them out in-between troops, saves them getting too sweaty. Just watch getting them too wet I know my first IB gloves bled quite a lot, not sure how endorfinders are

Very nice and great fast shipping

ShadyP's FOTK built thread (Backstage Props - preorder FOTK)
gmrhodes13 replied to ShadyP's topic in TLJ Build Threads
At the end of the day it's entirely up to your GML as they will be the one ultimately approving the costume. I would have a look with gaskets on as well, can make a big difference, I do have some room in mine and I added some foam in a few places to fill the gaps, gaskets fill the excess areas The don't need to be snug on your arms. Clips are pretty close the top plate -
