  1. i used hot glue so that I could remove them if I had to to make changes to my belt. My original belt is CA glued. And still together. I'll go back to it if I ever loose all this fat I added to my torso area.
  2. To me the only reason the snap plate would come off is because you didnt' sand or buff the armor and snap plates on the glue sides before you glued them. They should hold pretty well as long as you do that. I use 150 or higher sandpaper on the areas I plan to glue 2 plastics together. I use rubbing alcohol to remove any dust from the plastic. Then glue the snap plate and apply. I put a bottle cap over they snap plate and tighten down with clamp to hold firm to armor until it dries. (just a couple of minutes with CA glue).
  3. mine are 2 layer decals. so the black is overtop of the grey kind of like being painted on. Stencils would probably do the same but might see the brush strokes but still be clean. You would need to paint the grey and let sit for a few days before you went and put the stripe stecils on to paint the black.
  4. I wear the T/MC kit and love every bit of my armor. Holds up to some abuse. I am 5'9" and about 180 lbs. Yes, this armor is hard to fit someone who is muscular.
  5. This is the main reasons I painted the inside of mine. I used rubberized undercoating used on cars. Adds a nice weight to it.
  6. Does your gun shoot Cheez-its? I love cheez-its.
  7. Dave, I would not glue them overlap and then add the cover strip. That's not a true butt joining and not accurate at all. If you are going Centurion you should just do it correctly. IMO. And I will bust on you when I see you at the next event if you don't.
  8. i use rubberized undercoating and it is awesome. Mask the outside of the helmt real good before you spray.
  9. Your question of running chest to back is slightly odd to me. For the chest to back I have one webbing strap that runs under each ribbed plastic shoulder straps. I have two elastic straps that run from the chest to the ab plate to hold them together. Does not need straps running from chest to back under arms across your side like a lot of people do. You can see here how the webbing straps mount to the chest. When I put the armor on I snap the left side to teh back plate and slip on then snap the right shoulder strap to the back. The ribbed shoulder straps are mounted permanently to the chest and are free floating in the back. --------- Here is how my webbing straps work for the chest to back under the shoulder straps. --------- Here you can see the elastic straps that run from the chest to ab holding the chest in place. -----------
  10. I would venture to guess if you are going for EIB or Centurion you'd have a gun anyway. Why go that far and not have a gun at all?
  11. I give a stack to our squire and ask for about 10 or 15 at a time. I usually give them a shoulder bag to carry with them so they can hold our stuff. Just recently I had MonCal pull me a box that will hold them so it matches my ABS armor and I can hook it on my belt. I just haven't gotten to that yet. It is about 3/4" deep so it won't be that noticable. A lot of times I give cards to those who get a picture taken. If it is an adult, I still give them one. And the girls always get a card.
  12. Rebel Legion is the best place to look but building one sounds a lot harder and way more expensive that just buying a kit or prebuilt helmet. The only one I know of that I would consider is one made by MonCal. I am sure you can send a PM to him from here. Although he isn't a very active member he does reply when he gets a chance. I know he gets a lot of PM's and emails so be patient if you do try and make contact.
  13. Ace or True value hardware have a small metal hobbiest section that has the perfect pieces of metal you can use. I've seen them at Sears as well. Usually there are a bunch of different thickness of sheet metal tubes and square tubing in stainless steel brass and some other metals.
  14. TKC is a Stormtrooper Commander
  15. Agreed. Always white it there is even a chance it is seen.
  16. Cool. Thanks Paul.
  17. Someone will get right on it Travis. Sorry. You check out.
  18. When moving around and such I don't think the magents would hold up personally. Even snaps come loose when I bend to much or breath in too much. Magnets just don't seem to me strong enough in that area. I understand they work great for something mounted on your chest or to the helmet but bending twisting and breathing all make your belt loosen and tighten all different ways. I'd stick to the snaps.
  19. that is totally sweet. The grey is nice but id liek to be able to make it match the interior of my helmet now. Excellent work. Count me as very interested in a kit.
  20. All rivets should be painted white. Testors works great cause you can find it at any hobby store.
  21. i know there was a post on the legion boards about this.
  22. Way to go Eric.
  23. Awesome work. I am getting a full T/MC kit for myself so I can build the complete armor and get yet another costume on the boards. After seeing Brian and Marty's suit's I decided I had to have one. It will be fun if we can get a bunch of us at CVI wearing them.
