well now. that's new to me. personally I think requiring 3 in the future is a bit too much but shouldn't stop others from getting EIB if they only have 4. Because of the huge issue of matching color I wouldn't order a set of from someone else if I bought the helmet from another person. I'll see what happens now. It's bad enough people barely tell me they want stunt or Hero lenses. Now to contact the maker about doing a second version of the ears.

Whats the story with this? I have had a few people ask in the past about EIB and Hero's having 3 bumps and stunt having 4. I personally have not seen anything regarding this anywhere. I thought they all had 4. My thinking on this is did they really make 2 different versions for a movie. that seems a bit excessive and overly complicated keeping things in order. We already know they couldn't keep suits together. Parts missing, tube stripes lost. Someone please tell me what the story is so I have an answer to give. My T/MC kits don't have 2 versions to offer. Ours is 4 only.

I don't know of anyone who has done a full on build thread with my kits. I have a bunch of photos that I have been meaning to work on getting in order and apply into a tutorial but alas life doesn't give me enough time and I haven't had a chance to organize the photos any better. Most of the time we get into the build and forget to shoot photos. Mainly the fitting is undocumented. A lot of the assembly is though. I'll get the pictures together and create a gallery of them to post. I hope to try and have it done in the next few days. Sorry. I have really wanted to get something documented. Procrastination on this project has been a major factor though.

I would say AP and T/MC are almost identical as far as shape. The T/MC kits also are not perfectly aligned but with a little noodling they work great. I assembled mine and velcro'd together then trimmed it to be even. You wouldn't have any problem. They have a slight twist in them but no one would ever notice unless you got on your hands and knees and looked closely.

Thanks Damian. If I didn't believe in T/MC armor I wouldn't sell it. I agree. It will be your call in the end. Both kits are great when talking to both users.

Need advice on drilling PVC tube for E-11 build
Tray replied to Rich330's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
When we did this to ours we used a drill press. It allowed the bit to stay stationary. Made for nice clean round holes. We have since added a pipe inside so that we can cast the gun and make hard rubber ones. -
as far as pros and cons, I do not know of any for either kit. I LOVE my armor and have only gotten praise from everyone who has purchased and wears the T/MC kit. People who wear AP seem to love theirs.

That's correct. The bumpier areas are in fact on the back side of the helmet. I did a little digging and found a photo of AP from their site and one of me in my kit. Sorry, I don't have any photos of me just standing there with my arms down holding a gun for a more accurate comparison. I like to strike a pose. The square inset photo is of the promo stormtrooper photo showing the angles element above the ab dots. AP seems to go all the way up to the top of the armor. The Promo shot seems to be about 2 1/4 inches up and T/MC is about 1 1/4 inches. Also you can see some type of difference in the shape of the helmet but that could be the photography and or how it was assembled. --------- Cost is another difference. PM for that.

I would like to point out that the two kits are based from the same kit. Both makers have done some small modifications. While I have no idea the thickness of the material AP uses, I do know T/MC is made with .090 ABS and is extremely durable when it comes to trooping. I have been doing it for 3 years now in my suit and am only having to patch small cracks in it. The T/MC kit is from before AP purchased their bucks. According to the AP description their helmet was cleaned up and smoothed out while the T/MC kit still has a little of the imperfections in it still just like the movies are.

T/MC is fairly new to the Armor world really. He was making it a while back and stopped producing it. I have asked if he would start making it again so I have become his storefront for him. All requests go through me, even if you contacted him directly he forwards me the requests. Since I sell the armor for MC so we decided to call it T/MC. Tray/MonCal. Not very original but then again, who's is? The differences are very minor. The arms are the same as being identical left and right. Some adjustments have been made to the helmet and I believe a small difference to the AB plate as well. I'll try and do some photo comparisons of the armor. If anyone with an AP kit would be so gracious to send me good photos of the ab plate It would be appreciated. I think there is a difference in it and I can't seem to find someone with photos of their AP kit. I'll post more for sure. I am late for work right now so I must be off.

We did a Make-A-Wish bowling event in PA last year. We had Team TK vs. Team TB. I forget who won. It was a blast. It is definately harder to bowl in armor than without. I brought my own ball. 16 pounds. It was a bit much. I'll use a house ball next time.

All good now. Thanks Brandon. Always good to add to my Reference Library.

Got my T/MC kit May 14th, 2007. Completed and Legion approved October 27th, 2007. 5 1/2 Months to assemble and get approved. I trimmed it by hand over the course of about 2 months working a couple hours a day. Glued and assembled it all myself except for a couple of pieces that needed an extra pair of hands (the thighs). Had MonCal help me fit it and make sure all the pieces fit just right. Sewed the straps and snap system as well as belt myself. Cut and dyed the holster myself. All the soft parts were ordered and in my possession before I even got the armor parts. I have helped other people build the same kit in about 4 days. Not 4 consecutive days but 4 total days working one day a weekend. So I guess that means it was a month. Trimmed 1st day using table sander and some hand sanding the edges. Glued 2nd day. Sew straps and belt and some fitting 3rd day. Final fitting with helmet and photos 4th day. All of these were done with ABS kits. No painting required.

How do you keep your shins in Place?
Tray replied to Obievon's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Mine stay in place via velcro. I put them on, velcro the back closed and they stay right where they are suppose to be. I don't have problems with moving up or down and I have very minimal rotation happen so no problems. I must have the perfect size calves. -
yeah, I would leave it at home as well. TKs look just as badass without a blaster as they do with anyway.

Helmet: Custom Interior Finishes?
Tray replied to Defiance7x13's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I used rubberized undercoating used on automobiles. My helmet has great weight and feel to it when putting it on and wearing it. ------------ -
This was just fun to read. Thanks for that comedic image. I am glad you were able to finally get out though. I felt bad till you figured it out. Happily I am able to get in and out of my armor without any problems by myself. Built it for this so I didn't have to have help from anyone unless it is to pick something up off the ground and I am slowly getting better at doing that now as well.

Can you share the cam photos or give us a clue as to what cam it is? Hard to search for it if we don't know what to search for. Thanks. ------------

Yeah, that's wrong. -
Best to go to the Sith Lords detachment and ask them.

It's from neither. It's origins are from a suit before AP and has had some modifications done after. Here is the post from the Basic training section. Type: T/MC Country: USA Contact: [email protected] or Tray on the FISD boards Kit: .090 ABS, untrimmed, ANH Derived. Helmet is screen derived. Armor similar to TE2 and AP but with some parts being different and others being modified. The left inner shin is a duplicate of the right outer shin similar to AP. The arms (Bicep, forearm and shoulders) are the same, there is no unique left and right arm. The helmet comes with resin cast hovi mic tips, which are acceptable for EIB use, and all assembly material excluding paint. Comes with your choice of Smoked gray bubble lenses or flat dark green lenses. This is most comparable to AP with some slight changes. Availability: No known problems obtaining this. 4-8 weeks for delivery and sometimes sooner than that. Assembly: Seams are overlapping joints making it a reasonably easy build, though one can use finishing strips instead. Comments: The armor is ABS, not bright white and glossy like FX. Due to material thickness lines are softer than some other makers. Will probably shine up well with Mr Sheen though. --------- There are several members that wear this kit both here on the east cost as well as the Colorado/New Mexico area.
