  1. It's been a while since I last posted on here. In that time I have been looking at as many build threads and gallery pics to make my TK Lid more stunt looking (raised brow) rather then hero looking. I know It's down to personnel preference, but after reading a post by 'CableGuy' I felt I would prefer a slightly higher brow. Let me know what you other troopers think of my lid. Before and after pics. (Apologies for the poor lighting). Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

  2. My garrison is looking at marking social events in neutral locations like BBQ in a park to simply get people talking face to face again. We also welcome all new comers and rookies/cadets so they can’t talk to other members about costumes etc etc. we are planning for 4 a year in reasonable central locations. If we put flags and banners up we can also use them for recruiting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. I've certainly considered it! Phasma's chrome appeals to me specifically, but if our first build goes well I might take something a bit simpler on first. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk

  4. Got wayyyyyyyyyyyy off track with this project after being diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma late last year... so, you know, that sucks. Costumes and the club have definitely taken a back seat to my health, but having projects to keep me busy in between rounds of chemo definitely helps. So I'm back at this a bit while wrapping up the 15 other projects I constantly seem to have going at once. First up, some overall objective updates. I'm pivoting and going a different direction yet again. I think I am going to rattle-can paint the suit myself to save money (treatment bills, boo), but I think it will be fine for my new goal... which is possibly helping develop a new CRL using the suit. It'll become pretty obvious which one at a certain point, but I should technically stay quiet for at least another month. That being said - the paintjob doesn't need to be perfect, and I can have it painted by my auto paint pro down the road. For now, I'd like to get it going (possibly in time for WonderCon?) so I'll be doing the prep and spray myself. Jim's kit is actually pretty darn smooth to begin with, but I have high standards. So... Sanding. So much sanding. Initial paint tests are looking like if I do one coat of filler primer, sand it to like 400, mark any low spots or holes and add glazing putty, sand to 400 again, then spray an alternating color of sandable primer, sand to 400, then 1000, and then spray two coats of white, it should look halfway decent and acceptable for my next two projects using the suit. I have another helmet on standby for my first project, will likely have the fiberglass helmet professionally painted for actual R1 submission, and will probably convert a Black Series down the road for project #3 (already ordered and gutted, couldn't help myself). I'm starting with the pieces that I know will not need additional reinforcement while I continue to look for just the right type of resin to add to the rest of the panels that have thin spots or major stress points. I'm not good about documenting, but I'll give it a shot in case it helps others. I moved a mannequin in from the garage to the bedroom to test hanging some of the armor on him and forgot to tell my girlfriend. Scared the hell out of her hahahaha

  5. We do that too - call that Buckets ‘n Beer [emoji6] For us it’s predominantly aimed at Cadets and prospective members, but we get a good turn out from the Garrison - way more chilled than an AP [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. With the S trim just make sure you cut it longer, you can push it while attaching it and it will compress and hold itself in place nicely. Good luck with the modifications, almost there

  10. Here we go got my feedback from my approval photos. Main Issues are my shins are to loose/big at my ankles, S-trim has to be one piece, my ear gaps are to big on helmet( can see through one of them), my butt plate was to loose not snug enough, my kidney plate was flaring out and the gap between my ab and kidney is to big. I’m going to be getting help with my ears and tapering the shins from a SCG member Buckets. I have ordered a new S-trim from my kits manufacturer. And I have reworked the strapping and made shims to my armour which you can see in the following pictures still working on the shim strapping was to loose. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. Welcome Paige! Sadly with our poor eyesight us Stormtroopers do occasionally need wranglers around to keep us safe from obstacles and small children so welcome aboard! I understand Phasma is a pretty intense build from the couple of build threads I've seen and we can always use more. Heck if you get the itch to do some pre-Phasma trooping there are many other costumes you can build to get started. Of course here on FISD we are a little more fond of our troopers.

  18. Everything has been washed. I used rubber dish washing gloves to protect my hands from the fiberglass and washed all pieces in soap and water. I went to local hardware store and picked up some heavy duty work gloves for sanding fiberglass, goggles and a sanding gripper with various sand papers. Sanding Gripper https://www.menards.com/main/paint/sandpaper-abrasives/power-tool-sandpaper-abrasives/masterforce-reg-hook-loop-3-1-2-x-5-1-2-detail-sanding-kit-12-pack/7330-018/p-1444423435229-c-14240.htm I'll be having hosting our squad Life Day themed holiday party tomorrow and everyone is excited to see the kit! More updates to come. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk

  22. Hey! Good to hear another new FOTK! For the gaskets, I managed to pick some up at a local Joann’s which happened to have some in stock from this link: https://www.joann.com/cosplay-ribbed-pleather-fabric-black/16228017.html I’m not sure if there are any near you, but it’s definitely worth a check. Unfortunately you can’t order it online, it seems like they are no longer making it. If not, it might be a good idea to message jimmiroquai on the RPF (Replica Props Forum) or Geeky Pink here on whitearmor.net. Hope you find a solution!

  24. I believe all members can view the breakdowns, if you go to the main Legion forums and click the 'Membership DB' you can find the data in there, under 'costumes'.

  25. Hi, As per the CRL Ear bars shall have only one bump painted in black (rank stripes). It doesn't indicate which one is painted, The common painted is the last one from the front. Cheers

  30. The model I had was full of errors, as it was designed for animation. The guy who designed it is remodeling it for 3D printing. When is done, I'll give out his info for it.
