  1. Dear fellow Staff members, Troopers and future Troopers, As Sarah mentioned in a previous post, it is with a heavy heart that I am stepping down in my role of Executive Officer of the FISD. Over the last few months life has thrown me more than a few curve balls, including personal issues, 2 deaths and a hurricane to boot, which in my opinion have precluded me from having the time to effectively perform my duties, and for that I add my sincere apologies to you all. Those of you who have known me over the years know that this Detachment and the people here have honestly meant the world to me, and it has been both an honor and a pleasure being a part of such an incredible group of folks. Although the dust is finally beginning to settle (at last), it will be several weeks before life allows me to get back into the swing of things here 100% as in recent years, but I promise I will get there. After speaking with Sarah, she has graciously offered that I step back into my previous role as Deployment Officer. This will allow me the chance to serve the FISD in the area that I know best, and I look forward not only to returning to assisting future Troopers, but helping those aiming for EI and Centurion attain their goals as well. A big THANK YOU to all of you for bearing with me. Your kind thoughts/comments and personal PMs have helped get me through the recent months more than you will ever know, and an extra big thank you to Sarah for her understanding and keeping me on as part of the Staff. Also, I'm sure that you will all join me in welcoming Brien as our new XO. He is a true treasure here, and I am sure he will continue to go above and beyond to make sure that this Detachment continues to be the best one in the 501st! My very best to you all, and I will see you on the boards a LOT more. Troop on, Joseph

  3. ...I find this part hilarious. If I ever join 501st I guarantee you GGG's reports will just be a list of my klutziness.

  4. For my build I cut both sides. When you think about the symmetry you want it to line up with the biceps and shoulder, so you will usually see in fitting putting one piece inside of the other with blue tape (pictures from AJ's build) For the return, look to AJ (he was able to go to centurion): With all that in mind I decided to remove the return edges to pretty close to where I'll finally have them -- nothing on the wrist, and about 1/8"=3/16" on the elbow ends. Need to remove the ridge return as well.

  6. I think the answer of which det goes to will be interesting. If it's just an FOTK on a vehicle, it's still just an FOTK. There has to be some material difference between the CRL we have and that character to even warrant a new CRL, let alone a variation of one.

  7. Due to changing time commitments, our former detachment executive officer @justjoseph63 has asked to step down from his position. He has graciously offered to continue helping the Deployment Officer team with the Expert Infantry / Centurion programs. Please accompany me in extending the deepest FISD thanks for all of his amazing efforts throughout the year as executive officer. Without his help many of our programs, updates, and merchandise would not have been able to launch! Joseph, you're an absolute gem to work with and FISD is lucky to have you. You're the embodiment of troopers helping troopers I am pleased to announce that the vacancy position will be filled by our very own Brien, aka @Harbinger. Brien has been doing a knock out job as our Merchandise and Branding Officer and has shown quite the knack for organizational skills. Please join me in giving him a big FISD welcome as our new detachment executive officer

  8. Especially for those of us with skinny arms and legs, if you can fill the armor then do away with the return edges

  9. I find the return edge uncomfortable so since the elbow is totally up to you do what you think is comfortable. Not sure if we hit on this before but some people like the retune edge because it helps give an illusion of thickness Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  11. Hi, 1- Is there a return edge on the elbow side at all (BLUE)? You can leave the return edge or trim a little if you need more room . for the CRl, only the wrist has no return edge. 2- Are the two halves supposed to be cut to equal size/ Yes , It's for maintain the forearms symmetry. Cheers

  12. Before I remove to much paint here are some other photos. I tried very hard to stay away from gum lines and had people on the AM face book group. My very fist paint job was to low and IMO closer to the ANH paint jobs Fast jagged. In the end this was me adding just a bit more. Here are a few up close .

  13. Thank you for the input I don't know why I had not thought of using nylon straps. Probably because as a bigger guy I wanted to breath but that should be a easy fix. I will also drop the frown down and post pictures as soon as I am done.

  18. Nice work, look like you have an issue with the butt plate pushing backwards, may need tighter strapping or I came up with a v tab to glue behind to stop the plate shifting backwards May need a little heat on your left calf to help close the gap at the rear. You could also remove the extra material from the belt closure the normally stop at the end of the TD. Knee sniper plate could come up a little you have a lot of lower ridge showing, you may also want to try bring your thighs up a little more, everything appears to be touching at your knees and they will catch, perhaps some foam behind the front of the sniper plate to bring it away form the thigh. Also rotate your left thigh so the cover strip is central.Forearms could come down a little also to give you a little more room at the elbows. Ideally tube stripes are a pencil width from the cheek but not a big issue for basic. Once again nice work and good luck with approval

  19. Nice work trooper, just a couple of things you could adjust before the DO's get here: Drop boxes don't align with the end of the plastic belt in a few photos, a dab of E6000 behind on the straps can hold them in place. You can also notice in the above image that your ab rivets are not quite aligned, you may need to adjust for centurion. Belt closure is on an angle also TD could rotate back a little to show circle detail Good luck with approval.

  20. Something to remember is many armor makers do this in their spare time and real life comes first and although unfortunate not to receive a reply people do get busy, ill or even go on holidays it's not uncommon not to hear from a maker for weeks so hang tight if you can I'm sure you'll get a response in time.

  21. With the TD you might want to just check the CRL and available images of the bracket placement as it appears to be sitting on top of the control panel in your photo.
