I got my blaster finished about 3 weeks ago. I didn't post because I managed to lose the pix... heh. I uploaded them to the wrong folder. Anyways, here we go! Both LEDs glued to the muzzle with their stock holder. I considered some sort of light pipe to make the whole barrel light up, but this method was easiest and brightest. The Blaster Factory handle doesn't actually have clearance to allow the rotary switch to work in stock condition. All of the pins make contact with the inside of the housing. I dremeled the flat side like crazy (as seen above) and created just enough clearance to allow the selector to work. This was the first photo of my blaster actually blasting! It might not look like much, but that blaster makes pew-pew noises! I then shortened the wires up, built up the handle, and sealed the brain inside a protective wad of electrical tape. It lives just behind the bolt cover. I drilled and hollowed the back end of the blaster enough to allow the speaker and battery pack to fit. It pressure fits in there nicely, yet is easy to pull out for battery changes. The speaker is wonderfully loud in the back of the blaster. well... sorta. More on that in a sec. AAA battery pack from a flashlight. One of the many things I borrowed from Tino's excellent Lucky #11 build. This is the same voltage as the factory battery pack, but much much smaller in form factor. The one downside of this conversion - this was my only real option for battery placement. A small bit of spring was sacrificed. It's barely noticeable to anyone else, and enables fantastic PEW PEW noises, so it's a sacrifice I was willing to make. And then I got everything put back together and put the rear cap on and.... (pew pew). Yes, it was no longer PEW PEW. A lot of the speaker noise was coming out the back of the blaster. With the rear cap in place it was muffled quite a bit. I didn't want to further weaken the blaster by moving the battery farther forward either. So I started looking into tiny speakers. I got these tiny 20mm speakers off amazon which fit PERFECTLY in the 20mm recess inside the Quest Design blaster. I wired it inline with the factory speaker. There's no extra voltage going anywhere, so no extra sound is produced. I'm just splitting the amount of sound between the two speakers. The speaker goes nicely in the front of the barrel. It is also FAR less muffled. Noise actually escapes the plastic tube now! I made a decent fitting bolt cover out of thin aluminum sheet and started work on the clearing strip. Having that rear bit still in place let me get the angle right easily. One clearing strip! I then cleaned out the back piece for a metal inlay. BAM! A little glue and I have a metal bolt. It reflects the light so much more nicely than the painted resin. I gave it a little weathering and then... Finished! Again! For now! I'm seriously digging the metal handle and rubber grip. A bit dirty and in need of fresh clearcoat, but it's back together. And WORKING! So tasty. And here's a crappy vid showing it in action.5 points

Glued biceps down. 3. Foamed up the pouches. 4. Gaskets I just used my sewing machine to make them smaller by sewing the inside seam. Pulled it farther into forearm. now i’m moving towards the yoke seams.2 points

Hey troopers, I’m back with another little update. I’ve now painted the tubestripes onto this wonderful helmet. I’ve also added the chin strap and foam Star, etc. On the day of George Lucas’ birthday, the sun was shining here in the UK, so I took some “glamour” shots of the helmet, pre-tubestripes. The following day, I painted the tubestripes (a nerve racking experience every time I do them) with Humbrol Enamel 109 (a different shade to the one listed in the CRL) and took a few more shots. Nearly there, folks. I can’t wait to get it completed. [emoji16][emoji16][emoji16] Best wishes Dan2 points

Thankfully I didn´t glue them together yet. So no problem yet.2 points

Haha. Well, my latest build (another mock-HDPE helmet) WAS Mr No Stripes until yesterday. Lol. But I painted the stripes yesterday… :-( Hehe. This is actually based on another ANH trooper, so the marking and weathering are not matched to MNS. I’m just being silly. Hehe2 points

Amazing that is the technique I used with the masking tape, it helped so much with the allignment. Agree a bust or mannequin would work well for tasks like this. I'll post another picture of my method with the masking tape.1 point
-
They can be a bit of a problem to get just right. I normally test fit the chest/backplate and add the elastic between, then place the pieces over a box (or mannequin if I can be bothered getting it out of the shed), doing this is similar to what you have done with the coat hanger, the difference being it holds the pieces outwards so makes aligning the shoulder straps a little easier. Once I am happy with the position of the straps I add masking tape to the sides and the fronts so I know when I remove and add the glue they with be in the exact same spots. Take note occasionally a clamp can slip due to strain or pushing glue out from under the straps so it pays to check from time to time while drying1 point

Turned into quite a nerve racking part of the assembly attaching the shoulder bridges, still not as scary as the split rivots...relieved to have them fitted. Got a few other tasks to fall back on now like trimming ankles, rear coverstrips and hooks, elastics to install on thighs and arms, thermal det. Loads to keep me busy1 point

Yes the belt can sit differently when worn so better to do final fitting when you are wearing the hole armor1 point

Next I worked on the dangle boxes got some new elastic, and decided to go with the pop rivet in the back of the box method. Before gluing the front box on with some e6000 in each corner, I put some 1/4 EVA foam inside the back box to help make them sound a bit less wind chime… I think they will do1 point

Congrats on finishing this beautiful blaster, Adam. Although it happened already three weeks ago, I am glad you still showed us your last steps. The Mr No Stripes conversation comes up from time to time, he did get around but then I guess most of the costumes did with only so many costumes on hand Here's an old thread from back in 2007 noting some of "Mr No Stripes" appearances https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/12-armor-trivia/page/7/#comment-11158 Former DL Terrell RIP @SuperTrooper "I'm still surprised no one has tried it with Mr. No Stripes. He is in the movie, promo poster, action figure photo, and the original action figures had no stripes either." And "I understand bloopers don't count, but Mr. No Stripes was not a background trooper, had quite a bit of screen time in multiple scenes, and was used in a promo poster. As a rule of thumb, promo posters tend to be perfect." Here's another thread on "Mr No Stripes" to consider for basic approval from 2008 https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/2664-mr-no-stripes-and-basic-standards/1 point

Yes those are inner pieces. Hopefully Nick hasn’t glued them yet or used E-6000. As for coverstrips: the rule of thumb is to cover as much of that flat area as possible, preferably all of it. Sizes: In general. Arms 15mm. Thighs, front and back 20mm. Shins, front 20mm. Back of shins 25. These can vary depending on the Troopers need of more room but one should avoid bigger than 20 on the arms and 25 on the legs.1 point

Welcome Martin! Good call going with RS. I got a commission from them last year and they are absolutely awesome! Some things to look into while you wait would be a voice Amp system like an Aker 1506, a wireless headset if you think that's a route you'd want, and possibly a static burst icomm from tk products. And of course, what costume you'd like to build now that you'll have one you can't mess up[emoji6] You could also look at some of the higher level submissions from other RS commissions to see what common tweaks you might do in preparation for EIB and Centurion. Glad to have you aboard!1 point

Sorry to horn in, but isn't that two inner thigh pieces put together? I haven't seen thigh armor that looked symmetrical like that. The outside edge should cover up higher, yes? While the inner edge dips lower for crotch room.1 point

Lucky me found a few images supporting the angled cut Any DO wanna weigh in on this issue? Hovi Tips Not exactly that difficult either, although the small patches of black paint did mean a bit more extra work. Decals Now, as Joseph so kindly pointed out in this thread my decals are FX/NE Trooperbay decals. Lesson learned: double check before you order -- just because you got the link from the FISD does not mean it's guaranteed to be the right decals. Also, do not just hand over the order to your parents, who will then notice that it's cheaper via e-bay. I do not know where the mix-up happened, but at least they're ESB Decals and they fit the helmet (can't say the same for the original tears on the helmet, so I'm lucky that I'm going for a slightly idealized build ) Some references taken from Joseph's CRL Reference. As there's a disturbing lack of info out there on how to apply decals, here's what I put together with the advice of TK-248 (Tommi) and T-Jay (Tino): First get yourself some very soapy water, which you can use as a help to slide the decal into the correct position. Then dab said soap water onto your armor, making sure the entire area where you will place the decal is not only clean, but also covered. This allows you to correctly position your decal. Then carefully heat said decal with a hair dryer, which help it conform to the shape of your helmet and stick. If necessary and possible, cut the decal to size. Here's the end result. I'm looking forward to feedback1 point

Hey troopers, As we all know, an Imperial Stormtrooper (or a rebel in disguise) needs a good blaster at their side. Well, this certainly falls into that category!! I am honoured to have been sent a “JMC E-11” blaster for review from Marc at TroopaCoola, all built and ready to troop or display. This excellent blaster is a combination of metal and resin parts, with a whole host of working (moving) parts, as well as being incredibly well detailed. Moving parts include; • Inner bolt • Magazine and magazine release button • Trigger • Selector switch • Folding stock • End cap • Hengstler counter rest button Check out the video for a much more in-depth review, but also feel free to enjoy the images below. The below video covers an unboxing, followed by a detailed look at the functioning parts and detailed features: These are also available as a kit, if you want to have a go at building one yourself. Much happier with the posterior now. Added the v tabs, trimmed and added the snaps. I still have to add the split rivet to the cod area and make the strap. I was able to get the wife to take some quick pics with it on. I should have taken them with the under suit on instead of a t shirt and shorts, but I grab her when I can... Let me know if anything seems off or could be better. I know I said the belt is next, but I forgot I need to do the shoulder bridges next.1 point

I found it's better to use a permanent glue, E6000 still has some flex and the crack can open again. A 2 pack permanent glue or JB weld has worked for me as I've tried both. Also make sure you rough up both areas with coarse sandpaper so it gives the glue something to grip to.1 point

At long last it is done!!!! I finally managed to grab some pics and videos of the final build. Youtube link to 4 videos will be posted at the bottom of this post (hopefully it works...). One of the videos has my commentary. Other ones are just showing the blaster and me pew-pewing with it, as well as the lighting effects of the barrel in a darkened room. Please bare in mind I am not a photographer or videographer, so be kind. I touched up some of the paint from doing the final build steps. I then clear coated everything in a Sem-gloss paint from a rattle can. This ended up being to shiny, so I went over everything again with Tamiya model paint dull coat. Everything except the shiny rings between the butt and receiver, and the butt itself. Enjoy... Over all shot. As you can tell, I am using the gun vise and not using the blaster bi-pod to support it. I still don't trust the bipod due to the cracking issues I had before. Each leg seems to flex when I tried to rest the blaster on them. Loving that side box paint job! My scratch built display details, as well as the fully functioning fire selector switch. Main and scope displays in the modes that I like, as viewed by a gunner. There are several different options for each display. Details of the bottom barrel T-track wires and pigtails. Of course, once all this was done I then found a new to me screen grab pic that of course shows the wires not at the end of the t-tracks, but more away from the edges. You can see the barrel wiring through one of the holes. Small sticky sided velcro strips that are required to hold the bipod up in retracted position. They can't be seen when the bipod is swung up. Velcro on the "Bipod Hold open knubbly conical bolt device". That is my official name for it... Underside of the receiver. The opening is where the main display would normally be. Not very useful or ergonomic for a DLT gunner checking on his ammo count... That is why I made my own. This is a separate panel that you can replace with another provided panel with no holes in case you aren't installing a Blast-FX. Just forward of the opening you see the sliding ON / OFF switch for main power. Forward of this is the button that you press momentarily to cycle fire modes (as opposed to using the grip circular switch). Or you can hold it down to enter the Blast-FX set-up mode, that, in conjunction with the trigger, allows you to change sound and lighting options. The main circuit board memory stick of the system has sounds for most weapons used in the SW universe, as well as ship sounds! It is funny having a blaster that emits the sound of a TIE fighter or the Millennium Falcon each time you press the trigger. LOL Internal wiring and battery compartment with the receiver cover lifted up. You can see my resin 3D printed cocking handle. The screw did not come out when I started unscrewing the handle for transport. One last thing to fix. Video Link: I made a playlist with 4 videos. Maybe was a mistake? Anywhoooooo, if you click on the link all 4 will play back to back. Just fast forward them. sorry. My longer video with commentary is the last one. One or two of my pups show their faces1 point

Adding to what Glen suggested, beware of not cross the teeth lines, just finish the corners. It's better to trim the less than over trim Reference Images Cheers1 point
