  2. Awesome, thanks for the quick replies everyone! Luckily I haven't attached the abs to the canvas yet, was just lining it up visually and realized it looked off. Ill re trim the corners so they meet higher level approval. No reason to do it as is now and come back to redo it later. Thanks!

  3. I like this thinking, Mario! I may have to adopt the Chicago screw method for secure, yet removable attachment. Any particular size screws that worked best for you? It would seem they'd need to have a shallow head to to fit under the belt button covers, as well as a short post.

  4. It wouldn't be an issue since the gap is going to be covered by the ears. Note: remember to check the ears alignment prior to affix them

  6. Hi there! I'm Anne from the Wisconsin Garrison. I'm looking to start on a Legacy Era Female Stormtrooper. I already have a Royal Guard and 3/4 finished Iden Versio but I thought it was time to become a real Stormtrooper! Looking forward to getting to meet and know everyone!

  9. Either of those snaps/poppers are acceptable, and you’ll want ones that are sufficiently strong so as not to come disconnect mid-troop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. Thank you, I will definitely check out the vid later today. I absolutely hate dealing with rivets,- I'd never heard of chicago screws before, thanks!

  11. Hi. "I'd use 2 (or 3?) rivets to attach the ammo belt to the canvas," In my case, I prefer to use Chicago screws , not accurate but practic for any fix. then 2 snaps to attach the right and left of the canvas to the front of the ab plate, right? Yes Finally, You may want to check this video. I think it would be useful .

  13. And just a tip, if you paint white first it should fill any areas that may bleed due to not quite sticking or lifting, then go over with the top color.

  14. Next known troop is in May. I'd love to dawn the TK for it's first troop (My second Troop). I've got some time yet until May1. Going to suit up a few times and see if I have problems. If so I'll have to get busy removing snaps and installing rivets.

  15. Hi Alex, you're completely right. What I would recommend is to re align the canvas belt and trim the ABS belt to line up. References

  18. Thanks. The counter was made by eyeballing reference photos and then cutting and glueing together plastic plates. I enjoyed finding out what I could do with just the basic tools and patience. I believe it turned out alright considering it was made in a few hours.

  19. And here is the painting process. 1. Primer Grey rattle can surfacer from Tamiya. Two coats was applied. 2. Texture paint Used Turner's iron black. Wasn't necessary the correct color but will do since it's used just for the texture. Used a bit of old sponge from the kitchen and kept on dabbing till I got the texture I wanted. I found that applying small amounts of this paint and keeping dabbing with sponge till it's almost dry produces a more fine "sandy" texture. Applying heavy amounts will produce a more thick texture. May not be correct crinkled texture of the Sterling/E-11 but I got the effect that I intended. 3. Surface paint Used Tamiya's matt black rattle can. Not having a spray booth and needed to go outside in the wintertime for spraying each time was unbearable so just 1 can was used. 4. Clear coat Used Tamiya's matt clear rattle can, just 1 can again. 5. Different paint proceure for parts 1) ABS plastic grip was left unpainted. 2) Texture paint was used only for the receiver, muzzle, rear cap and stock. 3) Magazine, rail, scope, henglister, trigger and guard was painted with primer, matt black and matt clear without the texture. After completing the paint and started repeating the assembly and disassembly to install the Blast-Fx, I found that the Tamiya primer does tend to flake off from the aluminum when strongly scratched. I maybe should have used a proper painting system for metal but I've been using Tamiya for so long and like the color and handling, I would probably use them again next. Well so much for the explanation, here are the photos. Applying the Turner texture paint with a small sponge. This is how it looks after Turner's iron black. It could have been used as a final coat if it was another prop but I decided that E-11 should be the proper black. And here's all the parts painted waiting for assembly.

Need Help Ask the Deployment Officers Advanced Tactics Awards Public Relations Staff List 2020 Follow FISD David Sack (TA-52568) of Starkiller Garrison departed on December 8th, 2021. Dave was a 501st member since 2015, creating amazing costumes that he and others loved! He was one of the few makers of Rebels armor and LOVED everything about the show. Throughout the years he has helped countless people make and build their armor, hosted armor parties and was an absolutely wonderful person to everyone around him. In the hours just before his passing, he was working on a new Mando and posting memes like he always did. The Garrison trooped for the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins Star Wars night on the same day as the viewing/funeral. There was a lot of emotion in the room. His kindness and joy left a deep impression on everyone. Prior to the start of the game, the team took a moment to honor him. Once that was done, everyone made sure to be upbeat for the rest of the night. It was what he would have wanted, and truly did feel like he was trooping there. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. "Buckets Off" Daniel Murawski (TI-14546) passed on January 9th 2022. He was a 6'8" trooper that LOVED every chance that he had to troop. He has been a 501st member since 2016, and had a TIE Reserve and a Bridge Crew costume. He was also working on an OT TIE Pilot costume during the past year. When he wasn't trooping, he also loved gaming, and all sorts of nerdy things. He was not extremely active of late, because of his career. However, he always made time to interact with his fellow Starkiller Garrison troopers via Facebook and other means. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. "Buckets Off" Calvin Deckert joined the Legion on Aug 22, 2007, and had the nickname Gigantor. He was not in the Legion long as he subsequently enlisted in the military, where he made Sgt. in the US army. He loved helping returning vets reacclimate to home again and also helped military families deal with the unknown. While his time was short in Garrison Carida, many who knew him were shocked at his passing. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. "Buckets Off" Scott Goodvin (SL-52673) was a member of the Imperial 80th Squad of Central Garrison, who passed on due to a battle with long-term illness. Scott was a staple at any troop done at Acme Comics in Sioux City, which is owned by two fellow 501st members. He loved going out of his way to make sure everyone got to have a moment with Vader, and being able to costume as the Sith Lord was his pride and joy. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. "Buckets Off" Mike Galer (TK-8493) was the squad leader for 621st Detention Squad, which is active in the South Dakota Territory of Central Garrison. He served for many years on the command staff for the garrison. Affectionately known as "Pooh Bear", Mike, along with his wife Missy (TX-4839) and their children, were founding members of the squad and trooped faithfully across the garrison boundaries over the course of his 11-year trooping service. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. "Buckets Off" Leeroy Simpson (TI-2541) joined the 501st in 2010, and was a member of Great Lakes Garrison until his passing on 22 January 2022. He enjoyed attending comic cons with his granddaughters. He also owned a collectibles store and was a classic car enthusiast. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. This is my first entry as the new Detachment Executive Officer! First I would like to thank Andrew (Sly11) our amazing FISD DL for thinking of me when it came time make choices for his staff. I first signed up here in 2011 and have loved this place ever since. I was finally approved in 2014 and I never left. Many of your current staff members were all getting started around the same time. I consider this place my home. It has always been a welcoming place and I have met many of my legion friends through this detachment. I am so honored to be able to give back now as the XO. I have loved being your DCOG for the last 5 years and have learned so much about the detachment and its members since then. I want to thank Chris (themaninthesuitcase) for being by my side through most of it. He truly is a very special staff member and I consider him one of my best Star Wars 501st family member nerds. I know he will continue on keeping this detachment running smoothly as he always has. So now what? Well I think Andrew has some very special things planned for this detachment for this year. You all should be very excited about being a FISD member. We would love to have participation on our forums be at an all time high this year. We have always stressed Troopers Helping Troopers and we certainly cannot do it without all of you. So please pass on to your legion friends who are stormtroopers to come over to our forums often. Join the party! Lastly, I would like all FISD members know that you can come to me at any time and for any reason. You can shoot me a PM here on the forums, a message on facebook (my name), message on instagram (starsaber25) or however you would like to try and contact me. New FISD Tri Fold Brochure We have just launched our newly revised Detachment Tri Fold brochure. It's been quite a long time since we actually had these available and since then many things have changed leading us to updating some of the text to include new costumes, and have more relevant information. Originally these were done in a limited run by the member who created them, but nowadays, we have moved this to a print your own service making them accessible to all countries around the globe. Files are available to all full 501st members on request, and are completed in a very high resolution to ensure quality in a finished product. Appreciate the welcome Id really love to build a kit as I’m really handy and very OCD but I’d struggle to get one piece trimmed and glued a week right now so it would cause more anxiety than therapy haha ill let the OCD take over on the fitment once I get it I suppose. Definitely want to have the helmet comm and fans so that will give me something to do. it’s nice being older and having disposable income!
