  2. Donostia, Capital of the 'Star Wars' Solidarity More than 300 characters from 'Star Wars' from Europe will parade on November 27 through La Concha and the Victoria Eugenia will host a concert on November 26. The legendary Albin Johnson will come to the events in tribute to the Blood Donors. It will be a special weekend in which Darth Vader and his family will 'work' on behalf of blood donors. "Solidarity will be the engine of the meeting, but all of Donostia and Gipuzkoa will enjoy a unique show, with a parade through La Concha of more than 300 people from all over Europe dressed as characters of the saga, and a unique concert at the Victoria Eugenia, with the Filarmonía orchestra of Madrid, in which a new anthem will be premiered", says Andoni Serrano, president of ThePinkForce Foundation. It promises to be a popular holiday, but getting here hasn't been easy. Andoni Serrano and his space hosts have been preparing "a unique event" for some time, but the pandemic has been complicating the process. Finally everything is finished so that that weekend of November 26 and 27 Donostia lives a peaceful and solitary invasion of Star Wars, headed by the American Albin Johnson, founder of the international solidarity organization 501st Legion and honorary president of the San Sebastian foundation, "a mythical character for us, who only travels to the big appointments", Serrano adds. Return to the premiere theater The space weekend starts on Friday, November 26 in the afternoon with the concert at the Victoria Eugenia of the Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir of Madrid, directed by Pascual Osa. "We don't forget that in that same theater 'Star Wars' premiered at the 1977 Film Festival," says Serrano. "It is a place full of magic for those of us who are followers of this world, and that concert, full of winks to the saga, will also serve to premiere 'The Pink Side Of de Force', composed by Álvaro Iglesias and Alberto González and adapted by Pascual Osa himself. " It will be a historic moment for the world fans of 'Star Wars' to premiere it at the Victoria Eugenia theater and in the presence of Albin Johson, who will give his only talk in Spain at the end of the concert." Image of a similar parade in Salamanca. In Donostia you will go from Miramar to the City Hall. The most spectacular and popular moment will be on Saturday, November 27, at five in the afternoon, with the great solidarity march of characters from the popular film series. The tour is of the Miramar Palace, which those days will be the 'headquarters' of the event, and the City Hall. "We expect about 300 characters from Italy, France or Switzerland, in addition to Spain, and a representation of the people benefited by the donations will also participate in the parade. We do all this with the Association of Blood Donors of Gipuzkoa, which celebrated 55 years of history last year, and we want to make visible some of those who benefit from solidarity donation, so there will be people from the Association against Cancer, Aspanogi or Alcer, among other entities. " More than 20,000 spectators The organizers of the event in San Sebastian estimate that the parade will attract about 20,000 spectators. "This is what has happened in other cities, such as Seville or Malaga, which have hosted similar events." The march will end in the terreza of the City Council, "place where we will pay tribute to all those who have accompanied Blood Donors in their history, symbolized in the oldest donor and in the youngest". And for the fans, a unique moment: the participants in the march, dressed in their costumes, will be made available to citizens to take photos on the terrace of the Town Hall. The 501st Legion at the Victoria Eugenia on a visit in December 2019. Andoni Serrano highlights the support that the City Council of San Sebastian, Donostia Turismo, Basque Tour and other institutions such as the Provincial Council are giving to the events. The so-called Legion 501, promoter of these activities, was born "with the purpose of manifesting the passion for Star Wars, and took advantage of this potential to help in solidarity causes, usually focused on the little ones. Currently, at Spanish Garrison we are more than 800 members in Spain and almost 15,000 in the world." More details will be known soon, but Andoni Serrano and those responsible for Blood Donors are already happy to officially announce that everything will be ready. What if it rains on the day of the parade? "There are suits that cannot get wet, but many others can, and the experience of other cities is that the 'imperial soldiers' fight against all odds," Serrano concludes with a smile. Advanced Tactics Awards Public Relations Staff List 2020 Follow FISD Günter Hense (ID-22247) passed on 9 December 2020. He loved life, was a healthy, active and happy person and he was always grateful for the people around him and the happiness he felt as a result. He always took that as a gift and never for granted. He greatly enjoyed being out and about with his Garrison at events, philosophizing about costuming and life in general during regular meetups, and seeing all the wonderful places that were open to troopers, through his beloved hobby. Many visited him and his family at home in the bicycle workshop, had good conversations with him and, above all, laughed a lot. He was very grateful for all of that. And he was incredibly happy when he was accepted into the German Garrison, and was "officially" allowed to take part in the outreach programs in costume. Since it was he who introduced his son (ID 55255) to Star Wars as a child, it was clear that this was also a family activity for him. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. He was a popular face at numerous conventions all over the world. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. "Buckets Off" Greetings fellow members, and welcome to the October edition. In last months newsletter we discussed the forum work that has been taking place and an update was coming soon. I shall now expand on what that entails but stop short of divulging the entire scope of works until launch time. We understand the importance of keeping the forums up to date, relevant, exciting and ultimately the most welcoming and friendly forums in the legion. One of the more critical areas of our vast forums is the New Recruit section. It is generally the landing point for anyone new to FISD, non 501st, and Legion members starting their TK journey. There is a mass of information just in that block of forums alone, making it an important sector of focus. We have completed a clean up sweep of the area already, so now we move on to rearranging and revamping,, pinning and corralling more of what could be considered, the more important posts for ease of use and location. There will also be renaming of some forums and consolidation of others taking place, again to streamline the entire section aiming to make it all easier for new comers to find the information they need quickly. Along with this work, we are looking to create a new staff position so there will be someone to drive and participate in discussions, and develop a new section we are planning. Hopefully the next time we are talking about this section, it is to launch the changes and introduce you to a new staff member. IPM news. Imperial Propaganda Machine It gives me great pleasure to announce a new member of the IPM team. Since he has arrived on FISD's doorstep, he has been enthusiastic, helpful, goes out of his way to not only greet new members, but offer as much help and advice as he can. He quickly became an attaché, and hasn't looked back. Please join me in congratulating TK46116 CallMeMrTibbles, Richard Tibbetts! Good work sir, your ethics and dedication has not gone unnoticed. Attaché Outstanding Achievement Award I have been informed that TK-12953 (jsilvius) James Silvius has sent the last shipment of coins out this past week, and I would like to personally thank him for the monumental and at times stressful service he has has performed for the detachment. As we have in the past, I would like to officially award James the Attaché outstanding achievement award for exceptional service to the detachment for undertaking a large scale merch run. He not only helmed the Anniversary coin run, but did it efficiently and shipped all coins out in record time. Brilliant job James, the staff are truly grateful, as I am sure the membership are also. You are a credit to FISD. With Unquestioned Loyalty Andrew Franke TK11469 "Sly11" Detachment Lead 501st Legion 2020 Census has begun, it is the responsibility of all 501st approved members to fill out the census each year which you can find here You must be registered on the main forums to participate in the census:here I didn’t’ troop because of Covid-19 Due to Covid-19 many didn’t get the opportunity to troop during this census period, Legion Command has advised that GCO’s will determine how they want to proceed in regards to a members trooping activity and status, as such check in with your local garrison command. Here's what the charter says about activity definitions: Operations Protocol/Membership An Active Member is defined as a member in good standing who meets the following requirements: Meets all 501st Membership Requirements (i.e. ownership of an approved costume, is over 18 years of age, etc). Has an approved membership record in the 501st Legion Membership Database Maintains active contact with their Garrison CO or GML. Active contact and participation will be confirmed during the annual Legion Census held each year during the month of October. Maintains contact information/membership record in the 501st Legion database either through their Garrison CO or GML. Participates in at least one Garrison or Legion activity per year while wearing an approved 501st costume owned by said member as recorded in the Legion Census. (One year is defined as the period from Legion Census to Legion Census). Examples of an activity include, but are not limited to conventions, charity events, or any activity designated as an official event by a coordinating administrative unit of the Legion. Members who serve in military branches are exempt from activity level requirements if their service renders them unable to meet these requirements. These Minimum Activity Level Requirements should be administered as justly and with as much common sense as possible. A member may retain active status, even if they do not meet all of the requirements listed above at the discretion of their unit Commanding Officer or Legion Command. Filling out the census only takes a few minutes and you also have the opportunity to update your contact information ie: address, email, phone and so on. THE LAST EVENT TROOPED is the most important piece of data. Because our trooping year was cut short due to Corona-virus, Legion Command has recommended membership status changes are left to the discretion of the Unit Commander so please check in with your local command prior to filling out your census. NOTE: members who were not able to troop should enter "COVID-19" as their last troop. Any questions you have in regards to the census please contact either your GCO (garrison commanding officer) or your GML (garrison membership liaison) Census form layout With the last forum update the viewable area of the census may not be full page, as such change your page magnification to 75% and you should be able to see the whole page. Note: make sure you tick the box "Is the above information correct?" please tick YES If you have any problems with the logging in please contact the LWM team here: [email protected] So stand up and be counted troopers, you have until 31st October. 10. Hello! I hope this topic is fine, if not, feel free to remove it. So, whilst I've seen memes pop up every now and then, I haven't seen any actual thread with memes about the FISD. Because I personally love commenting the things in my life in memes, I decided to make a few memes about the FISD, based on things that I've noticed on here so far. Please feel free to share your own memes as well, if you've got any This was something that I had a bit of trouble with in the beginning... Perhaps some of you can relate, haha Don't worry, we appreciate it I've only been on here for a short time, but during that time there've been a lot of armors by Glen. Most impressive! The struggle is real. Now I just need the money and to decide on what I am going to build. "Troopers helping Troopers" really encompasses the spirit of the FISD and I appreciate that very much. No explanation needed Feel free to share some more memes or to take this post down if it's too off-topic for the off-topic area

  12. Hello everyone, Hallo zusammen, TK-86098 -AKA Soma- reporting for duty from the cloudy Korbach, Germany (Hessen). I got my approval in September this Year, my armor is an RS ANH Stunt. I`m 35 years old and doctor of Medizin (Urologist :D). My journey and dreams started at the age of 10-12, as I saw some fan/scratch-made TK`s on the TV. I hoped to become one of these guys, once! As a student I never had the chance to own/build one. Now as a doctor I had to prepare myself to the specialist exam. As a motivation I promised myself to order the kit on the day, I have the paper in my hand. That day came on the September 4th, 2020. It was such a nice feeling to open that big brown box I`m really happy to be a part of this community and hope to troop with you soon! Yours Soma/TK86098

  15. Am about to put the cover strips on my biceps and I realised that if I pre-shape the strips before gluing, I’ll have a stronger bond with less tension and better adhesion. So I’ve softened them up with a heating iron then placed them in their final position without a hint of E6000. Just a few (not too many) magnets to make them conform to the biceps (without squishing the cover strips themselves).

  20. I used to use a setup which went over the shoulders but now just elastic wrapped around a belt with snaps to the thighs. I use the plastic adjuster clips too so you can adjust if elastic stretches. Only have this image handy This should give you an idea, you don't need the Y piece but it does help keep them central I've seen some glue theirs to the thighs BUT you can't adjust then Some add to the ab but I find that a bit fiddly Shoulder straps you should use a strong wide elastic as your shoulders will be pulling on them. In some cases you need to double over the elastic depends how strong it is. Center snaps for shoulder bell strapping This one is glued on one side, but again using glue you can't swap out if needed

  22. Well there's an option. I suppose I could grab the threads with plyers and use my bench grinder on the head of it, but it is hardened steel. It'll remove the finish but it'll be painted anyhow. Kind of a brute move but c'est la vie.

  25. I have a rubber e11 for my esb tk which I bought from Sheartech in the UK, and I love it. Being rubber I am not nervous at all with passing it to kids (of all ages); I wouldn't say indestructible, but it's pretty close. https://www.facebook.com/sheartech/ Re e6000 plus, I'm not a fan. In the UK it's very difficult to get hold of the original e6000 that is so popular, so I can't give a direct comparison, but I've e6000 plus at the start of my tk build and very quickly switched to alternative. E6000 plus is (to me) not much more than a clear silicon sealant, and not an effective glue (OK for things that don't need strength, such as ab buttons). I used Gorilla Glue clear contact adhesive on my tk. It's very easy to find in the UK, cheap, strong, and still easy (with care) to remove/disassemble parts when needed. Hope that's helpful
