Hey there! My names' Austin, and I am looking forward to joining the 501st Legion. It started when I was at the gym and saw another person working out with a Everglades detachment shirt on. I went over and asked him about it, and he (TK-42131) and his friend told me about the 501st and what they do. They were pretty nice to me, and continued to show off all the different Stormtrooper/Clone Trooper armor they had. He then asked if I wanted to join, which as a Star Wars geek I answered with a resounding yes. I'm a 19 year old in Florida about to start college and don't have any armor yet, but I look forward to building an Imperial Shocktrooper uniform from Battlefront (2015) and getting out to march around with the rest of the 501st. As a kid who has experienced cancer and seen what organizations like Make-A-Wish do for kids struggling in the hospital, I am very excited to join and feel the need to give a big salute to the kindness the 501st Legion shows to children in the hospitals and to the community in general. I may be new to this stuff, but believe me when I say I'm willing to learn all there is. I can't wait to get a costume and become a fully appointed member of the 501st Everglades Detachment in the Florida Garrison.

To me the blaster appears satin black in this LFL display anyway, which is what I've been using. I think you will find matt gives a flat, lighter black appearance with no shine but satan does give some shin depending on lighting

First and foremost... There is no one 'best' armor. There is a 'best' armor for *you* depending on a few factors: 1) Your budget 2) What your body size is (yes, different armors lend themselves for different body types) * 3) How experienced are you at building armor 4) It's not the kit, it's how it's fitted to the wearer that counts * While FISD does not endorse any particular armor maker, below are sellers who have proven themselves time and again in terms of customer service, honesty, and quality. All makes below can be made to be both 501st and FISD acceptable. MATERIALS Armor is made from either HIPS or ABS. HIPS --- Pros: generally less expensive, easier to trim. --- Cons: needs painting or serious polishing to look shiny. Most HIPS will not be as durable as ABS or take the stress of ABS --- Suitability: will hold up fine for regular trooping ABS --- Pros: no need to paint, high durability --- Cons: may lack the detail of HIPS, usually harder to trim --- Suitability: will hold up fine for regular trooping plus take a lot of abuse OTHER TERMS Untrimmed: means the kit comes untrimmed and you'll have to trim the parts before starting assembly. Trimmed: parts are pre-trimmed and you can start assembling right away ANH Derived: traces back to a screen used helmet. Armor came from an incomplete ROTJ suit that was supplemented with parts from a tour suit, with this base being modified to be more ANH accurate in detailing. Parts will need to be butt joined with a finishing strip glued on top. * ON SIZING ANH Derived armor (TE2, AP) was sculpted for a typical UK actor circa 1976, e.g. 5'10" and 165lbs. While good for smaller body types, it has been successfully made to fit people as large as 6'4" 235lbs though requires a bit of shimming to pull this off. 1. If you are taller or larger in frame/girth, you may want to consider AM, RT, or TM armor makes for easier fitting. 2. If you are shorter, while ANH derived armor may lend itself to your size, even FX armor has been made to fit and look good on people as small as 5'6" and 115lbs (and smaller!). 3. RT has upsized his helmet by 4-5% which makes it equivalent to the size of the old FX but is more accurate in appearance. So, while it's true that every kit has a certain ideal body type, every make has been made to fit every body type and still look good. WHO TO AVOID 1. Good evening troopers. This has been a project I had been working on for a hot min. So much so I worked on it until about an hour before I deployed. Fast forward 7 months and I'm back and I'm ready to pick up where I left of. The pictures are a bit of everything up until the morning I left. From what I can tell. I still need my TD, weather my belt, lift/trim my left thigh so the sniper plate don't get caught under it. Oh and a blaster, trying to get a hyperfrim DLT-19 or a T-21. If any body as any leads on them let me know. This was my 2nd Anovos kit that I sorta frankensteined into the shocker. You can see evidence of my ROTK that also in the works. I had a really bad hair day the day I decided to do my first test fit. I still need to dirty up the deep crevasses

It is finally time. My daughter is 6 and the right size to redo her trooper armor from when she was 3. I originally got on of those 48" trooper toys and used it to make her armor. Had to downsize a ton of it and it didn't really fit all that well since she was too small. Now she's finally big enough and asked to be Captain Phasma for Halloween. A comparison of the TD's .Would also need to add the info about the black slot on top of the TD for basic, could be painted, decal or cut out with black pipe behind.

Allow for the anlge of the end of the detonator to end cap on the image, it's @ 1/8 of the length of the detonator, no idea what an inch/cm measurement would be until someone could get their hands on one. KB's TD

I've made the changes that have been pointed out and I'm much happier with the results. Obviously the handgaurds were a stand out issue but if these now get the ok its happy days if im correct I have to get clearance by my garrison before trying for EIB.?

Not sure I can contribute to this discussion. The 3D print files I and a couple of others are using, does have a separate tube piece. However, it is a TFA one. That said the designer has changed parts on request before - forearms for example

Whoa, thanks for all the amazing feedback, guys! The move went well and in-between putting everything into its proper place, I managed to get another small detail done: the fabric behind the frown. Whilst I was still at home, I took an old black elastic fabric,cut it down to size and sewed it together, making for an easily-breathable black cover: At my new place I glued it in (making sure to keep the glue in the wide-open window, cause this is a one-room apartment and I do not want that stuff anywhere near my bed): Because in RS Prop master's reference pictures video they showed a picture that made clear that the original helmets didn't have a mesh behind the teeth, I wanted to try and hide the fact that I have one. Therefore I only glued the sides and left it without glue in the middle, so that it wouldn't touch the helmet there. As a result, when you look at the helmet from the side, you can still spot that there's a gap between the teeth. This also helps to conceil the fact that there's fabric behind it, because the weave isn't as obvious as it would be pressed right against the frown: Once I get around to it I'll continue working on the thigh gaps, but I'll have to figure out how exactly I'm gonna do this in my new apartment first. I'll keep that in mind once I get to it, thanks!

Those two threads are ones I quickly found, there are others out there on the subject. Here is just one post in an application by a DO asking for it's removal, again there are more and this has always been the case since I've been a member, most will seek L2 and L3 approval and once approved just have decals applied again, Also a confirming comment by our current DO lead Joseph in the exact same application I know another member who has two shoulder bells, one with one without decal, great idea for LFL cannon events

Appears so, a few comparisons

Finished sanding and got a couple coats of Grey primer on it to smooth it out, and get a smooth base coat. I now got to figure out how I'm going to stick the few pieces together that are split. I think I'll try using super glue or jb weld with cover strips on the inside to hopefully get a seriously strong bond. Seems like nothing wants to hold to this plastic. Hi Gentlemen , would like to point the word "Ideally" we usually see in several CRLs . When making a review (not only FO TK) it looks like the ideally word feels like a "you can meet the requirement if you want , nothing happens" . L2 and L3 requirements, IMO, should be a must. Thoughs?

Hello everyone! I've got the Anovos ANH kit and I'm at the assembly stage. I'm just curious how close my forearms should fit. I'm not a big guy, so I'm concerned that if I fit them tight, it will look off. Suggestions?

I'd be willing to bet... In making/moving the form blocks, someone accidentally stuck their thumb in the clay sculpt picking it up. After saying "Ah crap..." they thought "Screw it... no one will ever see it or care anyways after this movie flops."
