[EDIT] Switching to TFA FOTK since KB Props armor is TFA and finding the TLJ parts is a little difficult. I will return to TLJ later! Hey everybody, Momo here! I'm pretty new to this community, got cadet status for the Georgia Garrison not too long ago. I have aspirations to become an FOTK someday and a few days ago I got my big start with the Big Brown Box! Ive already ordered my lexan scissors off Amazon so im waiting for them to come so I can get started on trimming these pieces but I got a lot more tools and soft goods to gather. I need to keep my eyes open for Imperial Boots to start taking orders again so I can get my boots and gloves. Everything else will come with time. This is my first stormtrooper and I'm still learning the terminology of stuff and exploring this side of costuming...but hopefully one day I can join the ranks! This is the look im going for when its all said and done. I'm still deciding on pauldron color, but red is probably what I'm going to end up with. This is the aftermath of taking everything out of the BBB. Its a lot of stuff! I'm kinda worried about stuff not fitting right but some of these pieces are enormous xD I'm only 5ft but I'm not the skinny variety so fitment will be interesting. List of stuff for my stormtrooper thus far. Most of it is not ordered yet, but its good to have an idea of where I'm going for things. Research is still ongoing! Will edit post to reflect updates on Parts List Parts List: -Hard Bits- TLJ Helmet: KB Props (Received) Armor: KB Props [Only comes in TFA] (Received) TLJ Cod: TBA TLJ Forearms: TBA TLJ Thermal Detonator: TBA TLJ Thighs: TBA Pauldron: KB Props (Received) TFA FOTK: In progress Eventually I want a voice amp and stuff but I'll worry about that after I finish the suit. Fans may be a must though. I usually just rig a CPU fan in there but I might want something a little more professional this time around. I'll probably be adding more to this list later. For now this is all, updates will be slow as I'm not trying to rush this. Dont wanna make any mistakes, I am new after all Gonna take it slow and carefully for the best result! This be exciting times!2 points

Excellent point! You can also say that we are 98.2% of the way there ;-) 1.8% left - almost there!!!2 points

I don’t think you’ll get a recast from Matt. He was one of the first guys to offer cast from original stormtrooper helmets and armour to the community. Unfortunately he couldn’t say no to new customers and as with a lot of vendors they get snowed under and then the next thing you know it’s been years and you haven’t delivered. Not making excuses for the way Matt treated his customers but we all forget he was one of the pioneers of replica stormtrooper armour and helmets. That shouldn’t be forgotten. Although bad business practices didn’t do him any favours at all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

I love the sound of armour clanking in the morning lol. It's an endearing fact of life, embrace it, we all have the same issue and its sounds great when you are marching along in a group of other TK's. If it is giving you troubles with walking it may needs some minor tweaks and trimming, so my suggestion is to suit up and have some photos taken so we can check your alignment, spacing and offer some advice that might make a difference to your overall comfort.2 points

Hey guys! I haven’t disappeared.. being in the heating and cooling service industry we’ve been quite busy. Summer has been pretty warm here in Colorado! Plus I’ve been waiting on my spare parts from KB Props that I ordered, which finally arrived! I made a royal mess of my yoke and back piece. So I reordered those. I also snagged a new updated chest piece (the nipples? weren’t straight on the previous chest). And I got new shins and calves along with the larger more appropriate sized pauldron. I've been busy trimming, gluing and test fitting. I should have some progress pics up soon! Can’t wait to suit up again, it’s been far too long. (pic is of my last suit up during a work Zoom meeting/costume contest, I won btw lol)2 points

Hello everyone, I have wanted to build a stormtrooper helmet for years (I've also been a member of this forum for years and never posted) but life always got in the way. Last night I decided to just do it. I figured since it's my first go at it I'd just look for a cheap kit off ebay and I actually found a half decent looking one. I have no idea what maker it is and I realize it may be a recast (that did not occur to me when I bought it). It's just the vac formed parts so I'll need to source the rest. It looks like an ANH stunt to me but I also think it may be an ESB? I like the ANH stunts better so I'm going with ANH for now. I know it's definitely not the best available but I figured before I shell out the cash for an RS props kit I'd use this as a trial run. I imagine I'll have a lot of questions for you all and if anyone has any advice for a guy new to trooper armour I'll gladly take it Here are the photos from the ebay listing, I will post more when it gets here in around 10 days from now Thanks everyone1 point

Good evening all. I just got my big brown box two weeks ago. I started my build and have found a tin of help on here. Hopefully documenting my struggles may help someone else. Thanks to all who have helped so far.1 point

So, within the required hour, I sprayed some gloss into a little puddle on paper, then used a toothpick to poke some into the pinholes. It worked! They're still there, but much less noticeable since there's paint in them now. I cutout some squares of velcro (one hard and one soft) and stuck them on the hand plates. And they look great! I should've gotten a picture wearing them... I think they're a little big for me, which is obvious when I close my fist, or maybe the velcro squares should be larger, but I think they'll work. After that, I sanded the chest, back, and shoulder straps more attentively. I washed them off, and then applied putty to the back and straps (before I ran out of time). I probably could have filled a bit more resin, but hopefully this putty will even it out without cracking. I used a toothpick for the pinholes so I could actually fill them. I'll putty the chest and sand these pieces tomorrow.1 point

Thank you! I am so excited to receive this. Looks like I have a few little bits to tackle before I apply for the big one! This is a great community and I really appreciate all the encouragement and positive vibes.1 point

Pretty much that is normal for most of us, I guess you could add some foam in places but the sound is pretty impressive to the waiting crowds at some events1 point

So basically if you guys aren’t aware Matt is trooperexpert (TE). There is a ton of history on him on these forums if you want to search. Obviously Mark knows but what he said is all true. It’s good to hear that you got a refund. That’s promising considering his history. But like Mark said I doubt it’s an RS recast. It’s probably a cast of his TE that he never actually got rid of.1 point

Wow! Awesome blaster build! Sorry I missed this one and many others recently. Excellent documentation and the final piece is trophy. Well done!1 point

Hi Avery, certainly this cheap kit will be a good start point for your first helmet build. In my opinion, this is the most challenging part of a TK armor build. So, take your time to browse the forum, measure twice or more an cut just one. looking forward for your progress,. by the way, for posting photos most people here use Imgur . in the check this post to learn how to post photos with imgur. I made a bit more progress this evening. I fitted the biceps and forearms and glued 15mm inner strips on each piece. Here is a photo of the fitting before glueing. Here's a shot of the left bicep before gluing. I sanded the joints as well as the back of the cover strips and glued using the fan favorite ES-6000. And here's the four arm pieces after gluing the cover strips. It's going to take some getting used to the "hurry up and wait" aspect of building with ES-6000, but fortunately there are other pieces I can work on in the meantime. As I mentioned earlier, My son, @McNuggies worked hard on his helmet paint job and I am ready to post it for critique. We are both shooting for Centurion, so please be candid with your critiques and suggestions. And, alas, two heads are better than one!1 point

Hi everyone, I joined the 501st as a Tie Pilot Reserve in 2019. After my last troop, I realized that I want to be a stormtrooper. I pulled the trigger and I ordered a ANH Stunt from WTF in March. I recently joined the forum and was awe struck by all the shared knowledge. Wish I'd joined while I was waiting, but I am here now. My BBB came a couple weeks ago and I have started my build. I intend to take my time. I'll probably be asking lots of questions.1 point

I picked up one from Harbor Freight with multiple bits and a wand attachment for about $25 after coupon and it has a 90 day free replacement warranty. I don't generally care for their tools as they don't usually last very long, but with their 90 day return policy and optional extended free replacement warranty, you an easily get your money's worth out of it.1 point

You made it! Glad you were able to hop on the forum. Wasn’t aware you had been on one before. Look forward to seeing your progress! And btw, if you can’t tell from my profile pic.. I’m a huge R2 fan! That’s a pretty impressive project to undertake. I can’t imagine the amount of work and patience something like that would take. And money of course!! Lol Hope I was of some help getting you over here! We have lots of KB builds going on at the moment and several that you already know of. Again, welcome to the FISD! Glad to have you aboard.1 point

Great, thanks! looking forward to learning and sharing what I come up with. Perhaps even coming up with my own solutions to teach others along the way. I have been building an R2-D2 with my brother for over 4 years now I think. It’s been for sure a challenge and great learning experience! if anyone is interested, we have a build log on Astromech.net here. https://astromech.net/forums/showthread.php?26950-Mowee-s-Build-Log but this one is about my first Armor build! so enough droid photos.1 point

I got my kit from KB Props, they had a sale going on because they were moving to a new place. I'm not sure if its still going on, but I know that list filled up pretty fast. Thanks everyone for your support! I laid everything out today to do a more thorough inventory. A lot of stuff here... Greeblies, thermal detonator, a ton of little boxes, and big armor bits. I think the first thing I need to do is get me some ABS scissors. Thats what the folks at my garrison recommended for me vs trying to use a dremel on all this stuff. So I'm going to hunt for a good pair on amazon. If anybody got suggestions on a good pair or on other tools i'll need, im all ears! Once I get a pair i'll actually get to work on trimming the excess stuff off. Once I do that, things will be on hold for a little bit while I lose weight, obtain an undersuit, and get my boots and gloves and other soft bits. This wont be a fast build, I wanna make sure I get it done right.1 point

Tarok, I mistyped and left out the "not" so it should read "I am not saying that the ROTK uses this same undersuit but we can assume that many of the features were most likely incorporated in the ROTK undersuit.1 point

I started by boring out the trigger area for the selector switch install, I went through the top so I did mess up the trigger area. I used my 3d print to complete the trigger.1 point
