  2. Bought some Chicago screws from online and must say I think they look much better than rivets. Added bonus makes the abs remove-able from the belt. I didn't remove the other rivets, they were put in much better than the one that failed, but know if they eventually fail I can replace them easily. Maybe down the road will swap them out.

  3. With a little delay, I want to show you the build of my own full metal power cylinders with real vintage METALMITE capacitors for the E-11 ANH blaster. After 7 years of hunting, I was lucky to find some real vintage TCC METALMITE capacitors which were accurate enough for my Sterling conversation build. I completed the capacitors with: - real vintage resistors - real vintage cloth coated isolation - metal baseplate "D" shape - aluminium pipe - metal endcaps - copper tubes - screws - nuts - square nuts

We've just launched the new Field Training Recognition program--Our newest PR Officer, Andrew Franke, has a section below about the program. Needless to say it's only been running a few days and is already seeing a buzz of involvement. Be sure to check out some of the fantastic trooper logs and start your own! Speaking of record setting, we're only 65 Expert Infantry troopers from completing the March to 1,000! And we have a new competition for Troopers helping Troopers. I hope you all had an amazing last few months of trooping. Many of you around the world did a ton of summer time troops and it doesn't get any better then that. I'm sure many of you get out and meet up with a bunch of other troopers from your garrison and that time spent together is full of laughter and friendship. I just wanted to reach out this month and remind everyone that September and October are huge months for new members to hit our forums because Halloween is right around the corner. Many people will start heading to their search engines and type in stormtrooper costume (naturally). We can only hope they find us first before some other websites like rubies, jedirobe or eBay. These new members will come to us with a ton of excitement but also some nervousness. Why nervous? Because we have heard it all before. There is just so much information here and it can be overwhelming. Well that is where each and every one of our awesome members come into to play. We all come to their aid and give them the most helpful information we can to put them at ease. This is what makes us such an awesome detachment. We are all here for our love of stormtroopers and we are troopers helping troopers! So I would just like to remind everyone that these new members coming to our forums are going to be yours or some other members future friends and garrison mates. Lets start their experience off right by being as welcoming as possible. After they are done here and they go back to their new garrison homes we want them to always talk about how awesome and helpful the FISD was in their journey. You guys all rock and keep up the good work. As always if there are any issues on our forum then please do not hesitate to reach out to Chris (themaninthesuitcase) or myself at anytime. With Unquestioned Loyalty Steve Sheades TK-10466 "starsaber25" Provost Marshall Deployment Officers Greetings Troopers! Your friendly D.O team has been pleased with the steady stream of EIB and Centurion applications. While I personally have and love the ANH Stunt kit, we've recently had several ESB and Hero submissions, as well as a couple FOTKs and TK Commanders. Keep them coming! We're getting ever closer to EIB #1000. Since it is now September, we'd also like to remind applicants that the CRL grace period for ANH Stunt, ANH Hero, ESB, and ROTJ is over and all submissions made after September 1 will be judged under the new CRLs. The CRL pages were updated a couple of months ago to reflect the new requirements, so hopefully there's nothing too surprising there. As always, please reach out to us with any questions. This section will allow future Troopers the opportunity to submit photos of their completed build to be reviewed by the Staff, Imperial Attaches and others in preparation for forwarding it to their GML for approval. Any and all advice/suggestions given will be specific, constructive, helpful and respectful. Please note that this program will NOT take the place of your local GML, as Detachments are not chartered for costume approval and can not override a GMLs decision, but is instead a peer review program designed to help you look your best and offer guidance and positive feedback. You will have the opportunity to ask questions about your completed armor, weapons (if applicable), accessories, etc. and get accurate information from the experts here at the FISD.. the definitive home of TKs worldwide. It gives me great pleasure to announce our latest recipients of the 3D Contributors award. Both these members are well deserving and the decisions were unanimous among the staff. Please join us in congratulating camprandal (Clint) for his First Order Laser Axe 3D files!! Yep this one has been well overdue but we finally thank you for an outstanding contribution and generosity in sharing these with the Detachment. Please also join us in congratulating trooper96 (Bryan) for sharing his E-11 component files. Considering the E-11 is standard issue for OT TK's we are somewhat limited to choice or availability in various parts of the world. Bryan has done a great job to bring you a 3D printable file solution to make the humble E-11 accessible to members in a print at home format. Chris Feehan (TK-6744) was selected from the ECG, along with Taylor Arthur Goodson (TK-12110) and Terry "Bro" Browning (TK-8869) of the North-East Remnant Garrison. 5 First Order Stormtroopers were requested, and we were able to scramble 3 with only 1 day notice between the 2 Garrisons. The call time was 6:00am with the first taping scheduled for 8:00am, so we were all picked up around 4:30am. A secure changing room was provided with some snacks and water, and they treated us very well. The segments involved us marching out on stage when they announced the Galaxy's Edge segment, and during the Weather report taking selfies with audience members. We had fun participating, and taking photos with guests backstage in between segments. Special thanks to Greg Lee from the ECG for guiding us around, helping us get dressed, and taking some great backstage photos. A shout out to Alaric Hahn from the ECG for helping put this all together on very short notice. Report by: Chris Feehan TK-6744 Well done troopers Preview of the Rise of the Resistance Ride TK-10401 and TK-10441 Featured on CNN Headline News! We attended 4 days of DragonCon in Atlanta, and it was a completely incredible experience. If you've never been there, and you love cosplay, this is your home. I can't adequately explain the feeling of being among over 80,000 fellow nerds who all have appreciation for costuming. We bring both of our kids to the event, and they absolutely love it. People constantly stop them to take photos, and it makes them feel like rock stars. So. Much. Fun. I was fortunate enough to be approached by one of the Directors of DragonCon while I participated in an early-morning local CBS television shoot on Friday. He was looking for a cosplay family that would be willing to be interviewed- early Sunday morning in costume- for CNN's Headline News Weekend Express. After some discussion with my hubby, we decided to say yes. During the time that the Director transported us to the CNN studios at 7am Sunday morning, we found out that the segment would be live. Ah, no pressure at all, right? The segment was supposed to be about how families can cosplay together at DragonCon. It started off that way, but then it turned into me promoting the 501st Legion. I hope I did y'all justice! TK-27888 WHAT AN ARTIST The FISD Detachment is just only one of many units of The 501st Legion and we are proud to be part of it. The Fire Team program is completely optional, and is intended to help form a common identity and spirit of camaraderie among 501st Legion stormtroopers in the same geographic area/garrison that troop together. Fire Teams are not officially recognized by the 501st Legion nor the FISD, although they will be able to access a Fire Team sub-forum on the detachment website. Because Fire Teams are unofficial groups, they cannot have any 501st or FISD markings, including 501st Legion, 501st, Legion logos, Vader's Fist etc. on their branding or logos. However, Teams will be allowed to use any unique markings at informal events provided they follow these guidelines. Guidelines No 501st or FISD markings. Period. Any active Legion member with a valid stormtrooper costume in the specified geographic area can join. The Team can create a name, logo, backstory, etc. for itself (names usually contain Fire Team, though this isn't required). A list of each Team (with their specific "Teams Name") with a current list their members will be kept in the Fire Team sub-forum on the Detachment website. A Team member must troop at least twice per year to maintain status as a member. Two or more Team members must troop together once per year to keep the group active. Merchandising Again, no 501st or FISD markings. Merchandising will only be limited by the imagination of the Fire Team. Any merchandising should be submitted to the detachment, or through proper Legion channels. A master list of all Fire Team merchandise (with photos) will be posted in the Fire Team sub-forum. If any of these guidelines are violated, the group will be disbanded. Here is a link to the Fire Team area: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/130-fire-team-area/ 501st membership is needed to view this area. LFL will not need to approve or coordinate these. Please note that retail locations should not include restaurants, bars, or venues with no apparent reason to feature Star Wars characters. In the coming weeks and months, we may send out a list of ‘preferred' retailers from certain regions who would welcome fans to participate at their venues within these event windows, but you are all still welcome to make plans with appropriate retailers or venue hosts of your choice regardless of whether or not they appear on the list. Thanks everyone, and thanks for all you do "Please note that retail locations should not include restaurants, bars, or venues with no apparent reason to feature Star Wars characters. A suggested level of EIB or above is preferred, as part of the duties include assisting those aiming for levels 2 and 3, but is not a requirement. You can find the competition here With Unquestioned Loyalty Preston Christman TK-91488 "Pretzel" PRO Lead - Attaché Ambassador So what exactly are EIB (Expert Infantry Badge) and Centurion levels? These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! It also works on giving a better look to the Legion as an entity, and you can bet others will take notice of your hard work. The 501st has a list of detailed requirements for Basic approval, (level 1), EIB, (level 2) and Centurion, (level 3) which can be found here in the Costume Reference Library, (CRL) http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL Here are a few of the questions people may be wondering about: 1. "I am a (tall/short/heavy/thin) Trooper. Can I still apply? Of course! These programs are open and encouraged for all sizes of TKs, as long as the costume is correct and meets the guidelines. There are many specific build tutorials to every option, as well as a vast network of fellow TKs on the FISD to help you out and offer suggestions. 2. "How much extra will I have to pay for extra items"? The cost is actually quite reasonable, considering the few extra supplies you will need, which are listed in the requirements area. While it may run you a little more to implement these additions to your costume, they will go a long way to improving accuracy. All needed items can be found for sale on this thread: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/16-ongoing-sales-project-orders/ While blasters are not required for basic approval, for EIB and Centurion levels they are, and may need upgrades (also listed in the CRL). 3. "I haven't even got my kit yet, is it too early to start planning"? Actually, aiming for Centurion is easiest to do right out of the box. 4. "I have my basic TK approval, can I still get in these programs"? In a word... absolutely! 5. "Are there any "perks" to this extra work and cost"? Besides knowing that you have a great looking set of armor, the 501st and FISD believes you should be deservedly recognized for your achievement(s), and allows you to wear the appropriate embroidered "rocker" badge of rank (available for a very minimum cost) on your shirt, helmet bag, etc., as well as rank decals to put on your armor bin. You will also have access to select "challenge coin" runs, receive (free) a cool certificate for your new rank, and have your title posted below your name in your FISD signature. Plus, once you reach these levels, you will have the extra knowledge to help out those who are looking to apply as well. 6. "Is it hard to apply, and what happens then"? After basic approval, all you do is make sure your armor is up to the standards set forth in the CRL, post a thread with the required photos in the appropriate area (see below), and wait a bit for the D.O.s (Deployment Officers) to address it. (Hint: Studying other people's threads before you submit can be a GREAT help). These are also listed on the main page of the FISD site. While waiting for approval, you will get some comments from others who will offer suggestions and constructive advice to help you out. If you should need any changes, the DOs will let you know, so you can adjust accordingly. Don't be dismayed if you do need changes... it's all for your benefit! After you are approved for EIB, then you can submit for Centurion. EIB https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/19-request-expert-infantryman-status/ Centurion https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/72-request-centurion-status/ Just remember that the FISD is here to help you every step of the way with whatever other questions you may have, but if you can't seem to find what you are looking for in your research, just ask away here on the forum. As many of you are aware, the FISD is currently in our March to 1000 program. Our goal is to reach the one thousand mark of Troopers who have earned their Expert Infantry Badge, and although we are well on our way to this goal and have just reached the 935 mark! The amount of approved submissions is increasing thanks to the dedication of those willing to go the "extra mile" toward screen accuracy. Here is a brief description of EIB as written by Paul (Daetrin), our founder: "Expert Infantryman status is not required for members of this detachment. It should be viewed as an optional set of requirements for those who wish to take the accuracy of their costumes to the next level, and be recognized accordingly. We're a costuming club - think of it as an award for costuming excellence and you get the picture. The requirements will not replace or supersede 501st standards, but only serve as an inspiration for the level of accuracy that can be achieved. The standards are meant to be high but achievable..." Besides the added pride you will have in your armor, those reaching this level can purchase exclusive EIB gear (patches, decals, coins etc.) and get a free certificate for your accomplishment. If you are interested or would like more information about the program head here that will help. You can also contact myself "Pretzel" or any Imperial Attaché, and we will be more than happy to assist you! Greetings troopers! Pride coins should be shipping in a few weeks, and we still have a small amount of gold EIB coins for those who qualify. I hope you do! Let´s get started shall we! CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All required submission photos have been posted and I am very pleased to announce your armor displays all the necessary elements to qualify for ANH Stunt Expert Infantry. On behalf of myself and the entire D.O.Team, Congratulations! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we review observations made by your fellow troopers and ourselves. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. Note that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions As we navigate through this review we are going to start from the top and work our way down. Starting with the helmet we advise you revisit the decals as they are a bit "rough around the edges". We would like to point out that painting is always an option and like many experience, a very fulfilling one, totally your choice of course. Dropping down to the brow we fell that raising it would get you closer to that Epic Stunt-look we all know and love Moving on we noticed the right thigh as going rogue on you, maybe a strapping failure or some strategic foam should have this sorted to ensure you look sharp on every Troop. Last item on our suggestion list would be to trim the sniper knee for a cleaner look. Centurion Requirements: In this section we prepare you for Centurion. More photos may be requested in the future that allow us to make better decisions on possible adjustment etc. If there are any areas of concern they will be discussed here. Because Centurion photos show much more detail than EIB, items pertaining to Centurion might be seen there and not here. We try to point out all we can from what is seen but the final accuracy is the responsibility of the trooper. Below you will find areas that will need to be adressed for a future succesfull Centurion Application. Starting with the shoulders the CRL states that it should be a minimal gap between the bells and the chest and backplates and so we need you to close that gap. Removing more/all of the lower return edge and/or shorten the top strapping should get them closer. The undersuit seem to be interfering as well so that might also be worth looking into. Next up is the side closures and it varies between pictures which leeds us to belive that with some tighter strapping and beeing mindful when suiting up this should be sorted. Final item would be to enusre the dropboxes stay in place and a dab of glue is our go-to advice. And that´s it! Again congratulations and welcome to Expert Infantry Enjoy it for a while and see you at Centurion

  10. Pretty sure that is a typo, it should read July 1,2019 - September 30,2019. At least I hope it is.

  11. Working around with my own build full metal power cylinders with real METALMITE capacitors, I assembled a kit to my old E-11 Sterling conversation.

  14. It was about time to update my 8 year old E-11 Doopydoo`s alu pipe mix trooping blaster... So I dissassembled the idealised Doopy power cylinders and assembled an early prototype version from my own build power cylinders. I think the result is woth it.

  16. Hi mate, as the Doopydoo`s mag housing is resin and my power cylinder prototype is also plastic, I glued the kit with a litle E-6000 drop. Indeed I used little magnets on my Sterling conversation with my own build full metal power cylinders...

  18. Repairs waiting to be set. I used the excess from my shim trimming to make bottom shims to fill in the bottom kidney plate notch I’d mistakenly left out. After trimming off the ragged edges I left the new notch shim a little long than the kidney plate at the bottom so I could trim it later (no sense in cutting until I’m sure I’ve got it right). Next I prepared backing plates for the notch shims like the one below. next I placed and clamped the notch shim and the plate in place also using a small clamp at the top to help the shim keep its shape. Then I got greedy and started reaching for the abs paste And I filled in most of the gap to help secure the shim. tomorrow I’m going to put in two small back side backers on each side to allow for freedom of movement. I’ll fill in the last of the abs paste tomorrow too. Once that sets I’m going to do the measurement for my belt.

  19. Good evening, Attached are the images of the TD with no gap between the clips and end caps, also I've shorten the clips in order to adjust the position of the TD with the Belt. If you need any more pictures let me know thanks

  21. First of all: Thank you for your Feedback. We focused on certain points and missed other ones. The mandatory pictures: Sniper Plate Thigh ammo rivets inside and outside TD Front Panel D-Ring Shoulder Straps Ab-Buttons and Hand-Plates (Hope this counts as one...) Belt Boots Now on to the stuff @gmrhodes13 already mentioned: Helmet I pushed the rubber a little upwards (veeeeeeery gently) and it's like this now. Maybe it was the perspective with the other pictures. Will also do the trimming of the rubber as you recommended. E-11 I don't know what it is with this blaster. As long as I have it right in front of me it looks perfectly straight. As soon as I took the pictures it mostly looks like I'm carrying around a banana. Right side I'm working on finding the sweetspot between too loose and too thight. I guess with "hanging butt" your talking about the buttplate sticking out like a duck's butt? I'll try tighter strapping but I was afraid ripping out the bracktes sooner than later. Calves Aligend nicely. The left one is closed in the middle. Don't know why the whole is showing. I'm maxing out the RS ones pretty much. Shoulder bells They are indeed my archenemy! They can look like this or like this I guess that's based on daily motivation and placement of the biceps. Back looks like this Thighs Hope the height of the thighs is better in the second picture. They don't get any higher. I'm stuck with my real thighs in the middle of the plastic ones. Already tried a lot of adjustement while building. As a result I always had a lot of room at the ends and was stuck in the middle. Guess it's too much running to keep my midsection slim enough to fit into the torso. Belt Belt is a bit of a disappointment. Looked fine when I got it, but as soon as I stored it while building the velcro started pulling strings from the front layer. Have to say I'm a little disappointed from the quality RS delivered. I already tried to fix the ends with glue and clear coat to prevent any further ripping. As you can see in the pictures it was only a small success. I hope I covered everything so far.

  22. Most of the time rivets pop because the ammo belt and canvas belt have been connected laid out flat, causing the plastic ammo belt to bend more than the canvas, creating tnesion on the rivets and ultimately pop. There are two ways to correctly install the ammo belt without creating tension on the rivets and with both ways you have to start with the middle rivet. 1. Snap your canvas belt to the abdomen and place the ammo belt on, bending it to form around your abdomen plate and marking the holes. When laid flat, the marks will be short of the holes by a few mm's or 1/8". Your ammo belt will be bent slightly like a Mcdonalds 'M' with tension on the ammo belt. This is not a problem for flexible ABS like 1.5mm that the original armour was made from. 2. Lay the ammo belt on top of the canvas belt and mark out the holes, then add a few mm's or 1/8" outwards of the marks and rivet. This will make the canvas belt under the ammo belt slightly longer but it takes away the tension once the belt is snapped to your abdomen plate. Both ways work extremely well, whether you rivet the ammo belt short or long of the marks when laid out flat.

  24. All done! My left thigh is a tad high in the pictures, but its on an adjustable strap system so easily taken care of. Moving around in it is a huge difference than my ANH TK. Inalso tried on my pack and it sits better, and with the rubber straps, it helps keep the back pack straps from sliding off to the side and getting vaught under the shoulder bell. The extended/larger back also helps alleviate the weight by pushing the pack into a better vertical position. Overall I learned a lot of new things with this build. My only complaint is the belt. The all plastic construction is a pain to deal with, and I hate the notches at the top of the belt. Because of the softer details of the abs pull and how far back the bottom lip sits, it was difficult construction wise to get them in as well as I could. Sent from my SM-T597P using Tapatalk

  25. Hey Derek, thanks for the kudos brother. You can suspend your thighs a few different ways. 1. Take 2" or 3" wide Velcro and sew a loop at one end for a waist belt. On the other sew on some Velcro, then add Velcro to the inner thighs. There you have an adjustable suspension system that's supported by your waist. 2. Take 2" or 3" wide Velcro and sew on some Velcro on both ends. One side connects behind your Ab the other to the thighs. Again, adjustable suspension system. 3. Glue, or add snaps to each end of 1" nylon webbing (length is up to the wearer). Then glue webbing or snap mounts to the thighs and Ab. Split the webbing somewhere in the middle/upper and add an 1" adjustable buckle for dis assembly and adjustment. 4. Buy an already completed suspension system that's not only used for the things but for the torso as well. Hope this helps
