  1. Hi Dave, As per one of my earlier posts, were not here to bash certain armour kits. When prospective TKs ask for advise on kits, we try to steer them to the most accurate kits within certain price brackets. As a few have said, sadly SDS tend to be higher price for lesser quality. However, now that you have bought the kit, and are happy with it, try to enjoy the ride. Don’t dwell on things you’ve read on the forum. :-) In all honesty, many of us that have been passionate, or borderline obsessive, with the original trilogy stormtroopers for some time could list and show the issues with each and every kit available, including, and specifically, SDS, however, you’ve bought it now so it would be unkind of us to do so. As you said you can’t see the differences, us highlighting them would only tarnish your view of your kit. All we can do is try to help you with your build, if you would like us to. Regarding the forum, you and Frank have a point to a degree. However, forums are full of content but we don’t all have to read it. If a thread has lots of ‘to and fro’ just do as the sandtroopers suggest and “move along”. Lol

  3. NOTE: Star Wars costumes that are commercially available (e.g. Rubies) is NOT ACCEPTABLE for membership without replacement of some parts and other modifications! It is recommended that you contact your GML or the LMO before purchasing a retail costume. Also be aware that this site - http://www.stormtrooper-costumes.com/home.html - is not considered commercially available. It is run by a person selling recast parts, and at a healthy premium over what you can buy direct from vetted sources. You've been warned...

  4. I will install a elastic strap between cod and butt plate before making any changes. Right now, my straps for kidney-to-butt plate may be a scouch too short. I tried to avoid this by gluing the straps in before separating the butt plate from kidney. The thought behind this was it would give me smallest gap possible. However, any movement right now without the connecting strap to cod does cause butt edge to pop up over kidney. I was thinking that belt my cover this, but looking at pic you posted from movie, I may be off on this assessment. I am meeting up with local garrison member on Saturday to help with butt/kidney/ab fitting. So, hopefully, get some of these things ironed out. I will post updates Saturday or Sunday. Thanks to everyone for their help if I have not already done so.

  5. Hi Dan! I've been well thank you. I hope you've been well too. I fixed the images! Hope they are useful for new builders out there. As an added bonus, here's how it looks like attached to the thigh armor;

  6. Ok, so my first try on. Before you mention it, I know x the strap, didn't on this occasion. Gloves must go, hate them like doing the dishes. The belt needs more Velcro. And some minor file on the eyes. Also Velcro on the thigh pads. Deck out the helmet with fans and hovi speakers. So any other suggests if you can see any guys would help me out.

  7. Would be easier if you could post photos directly to your thread instead of to a gallery off site

  8. Actually RS armor comes with only outer parts for the shins and is approvable to Centurion. As they shouldn’t as the CRL clearly states that decals are allowed all the way to Centurion as long as they emulate handpainted. Basic and EIB that don’t matter.

  9. It gets worse, by the end of filming most of the armour was in a dire state and it was mostly a grab bag of parts. Thing like 2 right shins or parts held together with tape are everywhere if you look. The thing to bear in mind though is the 501st trooper is to some extent the idealized version of what we saw. No tape, no 2 left shins, no "Mr No Stripes". Given you have a Hero helmets you will need to follow that CRL. So you will need new ears and a new holster (attached with 4 fastenings as per the CRL). Most garrisons don't care about decals vs hand painted at basic levels but it's a question for your future garrison. As with most legal things this is never as clean as most would like and there is 2 sides to each story. He certainly made the armour, and probably had a part in the mold process. What is clear to anyone with eyes however is that the armour he's currently selling is not made from those molds, too much stuff isn't right.

  12. Hi Michael, My thought for the red line on the bottom plate was just to reduce the overall height of the butt plate. If the sides match up, it will probably be better to leave it at the sides. Is your butt plate correctly overlapping the kidney? Not easy to tell here but I think it might be? If so. It should be possible to have the kidney and butt touching at the back without upsetting the side alignment of the ab and kidney. It’s possible that your ab plate could drop by an inch or so. Once there’s a strap from the cod to the butt, that should hold things in place. :-) For the butt plate, just follow screen reference butt plates to gauge the ideal shape (if you choose to trim any parts, that’s is). :-) Dan

  13. Nice work just a few things, your forearms need to rotate so the cover strips align with the biceps. You could also reduce the gap at the elbow by bringing down your biceps a little. Your thigh ammo strip has a pretty big twist to it, perhaps a little heat and some pressure will help to straighten it a little. Watch the closure of your calves, the right one is open at the top. Appears your shoulder strap elastic loops are a little loose. A few tweaks and I'm sure you'll be fine. Good luck with approval

  14. Here is mine, hope it helps. You will see the top line of the plate does not follow the shin top, just not possible in my case. Note that the plate was thinned, this was to help stop it catching on the thigh. Make sure you attach with removable glue, you might need to re-position a couple of time after trooping.
