  1. Good evening fellow builders :-) I want to share my latest project. I really love the TLJ Stormtrooper design and wanted to create my own version. But due to the fact that there are literally SO many out there already, I thought about what I can add to make it more unique. I thought about making it a 3 piece helmet. Main helmet, black insert and nose plate + the additional greeblies. This would result in very sharp lines between the black and white. The black insert will we SLA printed, molded and cast in deep black resin. I got the 3D model from Die 3D Schmide and want to share 2 pictures. :-) The parts are getting printed at the moment, I will post more pictures when I have the physical prop in hand All the best Dino

  5. FYI that the text of the CRL is far along, but we're waiting on new photos to get the CRL complete. Ideally it will get done soon so you won't be a NTTL (new to the Legion) approval.

  6. Hello there, last year I started my research to build a life-size stormtrooper display. After 8 months of investigations, discussions, emails and phone calls, I decided to go for the ANH Stunt TK from Paul (Troopermaster). As I had no experience in building armor and was afraid to mess up this expensive prop, the order got placed for a fully finished TK. The waiting time was used to start building my E-11 blaster. Just 2 months later the big brown box from Paul already arrived - and he had done a fantastic job! That was a nice day! Let's skip unboxing and go straight to the helmet and the modifications. Grown up with the original trilogy, my TK has to look a bit more like what we believed to see on the screen, as what the high resolution pictures revealed some decades later. The statue simply needs to look good - even on close distance. Of course this is not everybody's opinion - but it's mine. If the trimmed eye brow is wrong, it can be fixed by simply turning the inside out... Later I decided to paint the interior of the helmet. Chose PlastiDip black spray paint because it can be peeled off (if necessary). It looks so much better (to me) and has some positive side effects: - No more light can shimmer through the thin vac-formed ABS, which keeps the inside very dark and that makes the green lens look really black. - It also gets even harder to see the wearer's eyes behind the lens. - If you watch the back side of a TK, many times you'll be able to see straight into the helmet. The black interior then is an advantage. I'll also use a balaclava for my TK display to avoid seeing any skin or mannequin parts. Will continue with the next steps in a few days. As always, please feel free to leave any comments, critics or advices. Thank you.

  8. I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-Lipstick-Sized-Generation-Batteries/dp/B005X1Y7I2 The only thing I don't like is that the power button is hard to reach with it mounted to the helmet, they make a 5000mAh one with the button on the side that is a bit bulkier but may be a better bet.

  9. Hey Adi I haven't trimmed my kidney yet, and it's looking like I might not have to. I'm going to put my strapping in so everything can really hang how it's going to hang, and then decide. Are you absolutely sure you need to trim your kidney? A good bit of length can be made up for visually by bending the back plate's shoulder tabs downwards (by water bath) and the butt plate's lower tab upwards to curve under you better (if space allows). Just my two cents. ... Or wait, just my two Yen - my apologies for the delayed reply, as I'm in Japan for a few weeks hopping about, feeling close kinship with every Star-Wars-merch-wearer I see. I am appropriately labeled in our galactic alphabet in case one of these domestic Japanese flights should land us in another galaxy, worry not. Be back in a bit, and keep an eye on the Emperor for me 'til then y'all.

  12. I am having trouble with Praetorian. He has not shipped my blaster after giving me two shipping dates and he is reading my PM's on facebook and not responding. Very cross with them as they were very chatty up until the point I paid. I am not feeling confident and hate this kind of practice. Surprised at them to be honest.

  13. I tried the hot water bath treatment on the butt and kidney plate and bent them in a bit. It was tricky as they were both far too large to fully submerge in the large pot I was using. I ended up taking some rope and tying it around the pieces, pulling it tight to hold the pieces bent inwards. I dipped one end in at a time. I had some success with it, they're curved in a bit more than before. The butt plate might need to go a little bit further maybe. Before After It's progress, at any rate. In other news, I got an email from RS Propmasters, they tried to ship my missing helmet pieces but apparently the package came back with a "return to sender" sticker on it. It was shipped to the same address as the last one, so no idea what that's all about. Looks like my helmet will be delayed further. I did get a lot of other pieces like an undersuit, neck seal, holster, cloth belt, and gloves. I've got boots on order... Still need to order snaps, rivets, rivet installer tool thingy, and elastic. And I think I need to learn how to sew. Oh and a blaster. I'll be needing one of those at some point. This is not a cheap hobby!

  14. Hello Jonathan, My 2 cents, just as the guys said above it’s not going to be cheap. But you can start by combing through all the recent built threads on this forum first, this will certainly take you some time, but after that you will be fairly familiar with all the tricks and the get-arounds for building a TK costume. Use this extra time to save up, and check out our buy and sell section on a regular basis, you might be able to find a pre-owned but not yet build kit for a little less than what it cost originally (sometimes people just let them go due to lack of time to start a project or other issues). Planing and actually building a costume till it’s ready to troop will takes months (if not years, from somome I know from my garrison). Just a warm reminder on joining the Legion, it's not just about getting into a costume and look cool, it’s also about your love for Star Wars and to share this love with others, and while doing so, give a little back to the community (you have to be prepared to give up some time for charities and stuffs). Good luck.

  15. Ah, I see the reason now, it’s black on black, they wear the biceps low so it’s hard to tell. Thanks Glen.

  16. I think it all depends on how it looks. If you don’t mind the cuts in the back then do that, it’s easiest. I took some off my top out of necessity and it helped a bit and also did the backs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  17. Getting close to completion. All that is left is the garter system for the thighs and the pads in the helmet. Also the cod connector. And the hooks on the shins but I’ll do that after Halloween. Today I added Han loops to the biceps and connected the thigh ammo strip which went well. Not so well was the sniper knee plate. It shifted and is slightly off center. I might go back and readjust later if it’s too big a deal. Many thanks to Tony for his wonderful parts on the shoulder straps which saved me time and heartache. 20. Man Arthur - this is a fantastic ROTJ! We need a new ROTJ model - do you want to be it?

  21. Hi Arthur , thank you for your patience for your ESB EI application. CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All required submission photos have been posted, and I am very pleased to announce your armor displays all the necessary elements to qualify for Expert Infantry. On behalf of the D.O. Staff, congratulations! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we review observations made by your fellow troopers and ourselves. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. Wow, Arthur! Yet another spectacular build from you, sir... your attention to detail is absolutely amazing, and you are setting the bar really high for all those in in the HK Garrison! Thanks for taking care of the belt, tube stripes and frown. Great job! Just a few minor things here to make you look even better, sir. 1. The ear on your right side is not symmetrical to the one on the left, and could stand to be brought forward at the top just a bit and the bottom brought back just a touch. The one on your left is spot-on! Reference image 2. If you sharpened up the tops of your vocoder paint lines it would make this helmet look even more screen accurate. Reference image 3. Lastly, the paint on your ab button plates is a bit wide. Note on the reference image that there is still a bit of the buttons that is not painted around the edge Centurion Suggestions: In this section we prepare you the best we can for Centurion. If there are any areas of concern they will be discussed here. Nothing to add here, Trooper. Now it's time to get that level 3 submission in for your THIRD Centurion award! Well done!

  22. This looks great! I’m getting ready to do a phasma build. Actually seeing the steps before I start is super helpful. This is my first build so I’ll be following your’s closely. Thank you for the information. It is excellent!

  23. I did do a lot of trimming on my forearms. I somewhat regret it not because it didn't turn out well, but because it was a pain in the butt. I think it's more common to leave the forearms a bit bigger and just add foam to make up the room.

  25. Trooperbay's hand guards are made from latex, and are best attached with E-6000. When gluing to Nomex gloves, don't forget to place a piece of wax paper inside, otherwise the glue will seep through and seal them closed. It also helps to add weight on them while curing for a better bond.
