  1. Hey guys, I'd like to show you my Jarael costume! Since I love making costumes that involve bodypaint, Jarael was a good choice! Making this costume involved sewing, working with foam and of course all the makeup stuff! I wore the costume for the first time at Comic Con Germany a few weeks ago. Still missing are some pouches on the belt and the shockstaff, but I'm not sure when I'll be able to build those... Overall, I'm quite happy with how this turned out. I will change some minor things, but I like the look so far! Anyway, I'm happy that I now have a comfortable costume since most of my other costumes are not comfortable AT ALL So here's a full shot of the (almost) finished costume: And here's a close-up: Both pictures were taken by Harry Grees. More pictures on my page: https://www.facebook.com/velocipandacosplay Hope you like it! Greets from Germany, Vicky

  3. @TK 71627 hope this helps! This is how my rigging looks My straps are glued here and here Snaps here: And here: (Note-I do not undo these straps when i am putting my armor on) I open the side up (right side) Slide the armor on from left to right Over my shoulder and over my head Then down onto my body and snap the side closed! Now i must add a disclaimer here. I put my legs and boot on first. then my torso parts. I initially was going to make it so that I could put everything on then the chest. but find this route much easier. some people will glue both front and back of the left strap (side of the wearer with rivets) and only leave snaps on the front of the right side, this can work too with this process. biggest thing you will learn about this hobby is there are a ton of ways to do something, you just have to find out what works best for you! good luck trooper and keep us posted on what you find and how you fix any issues, you could be helping the next trooper out!

  6. That's some nice looking armor. Congrats. I noticed a couple of minor things (aside for the bracket screws not being painted). You will probably have to paint the TD tube grey. There is writing on it. For better fitting, you could pull your thighs up a bit, they are riding a little low. If you can, slide your drop boxes out to the end of the plastic part of the belt. Your right forearm is riding a bit high - not sure if you will have to adjust strapping or not. The back of your shins are overlapping too much - or maybe it is the angle of the pic. at some point you may want to shorten the straps that attache your shoulder bells to your shoulder strap. Some of these are just dressing issues. I'm not sure if the writing on the grey tube (TD) will be an issue for basic approval. These are pretty minor fixes. I see basic approval happening very soon!

  7. Worked on the TD and as it`s made of resin it`s not much glueing involved, however the left side is solid and makes the hole thing very unbalanced so decided to drill it out as much as possible - yeey for work perks The resin very quickly became hot so I went slower and the fumes and resin debris got me thinking - so I made a safety rig After initial drilling it still felt heavier than I would like so found a larger drill bit and went at it again, better but not perfect. Had planned on drilling a ledge into the tube and ad a plastic disc but had no drill that worket so did this: Traced the thickness of the plastic to the tube (probably not necessary but did it anyways) Used another perk to cut it. go slow or the blade will bow out. Trace the disc, cut, glue Sand and done. Did some sanding of the whole piece and glued it to the back piece, it has a curvature to match the screen used ones, did some tests and by using strong magnets I think it will pull the kidney to meet up with the TD, might sound a bit weird but i will elaborate on this when it comes to attach it (ooh cliffhanger)

  8. Imperial Attache Outstanding Achievement Award In order to recognize those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty as members of this program, the FISD would like to announce a new accolade: The Attached Outstanding Achievement Award ribbon, (as seen above) will be bestowed to those who consistently exemplify the meaning of Imperial Attaché, which will be added above their EIB or Centurion badge. This distinction will go to those who are not only consistently assisting present Troopers but helping future Troopers on their white armor journey as well. This includes greeting first-time posters, offering advice and guidance, assisting with EIB and Centurion levels and staying active on the FISD and/or their local boards***. 29. *grabs mic* It's time again, folks, for -- Concerns of the Overthinker! (lights flash) Thank you for joining us. Tonight's topic is Snap Plates, Your Armor, and You. Have any of you folks had any run-ins with the definitely-not-urban-legend warping that can happen with ABS snap plates, as seen in this [recent] nightmare thread? With ATA being among the thicker ABS kits out there I imagine I'll be fine, but I was planning on making most of my snap plates ahead of time and it's positively terrifying to think they could warp my armor like that and I'd have to scrap them all. Despite the words of its proponents, nylon webbing just doesn't seem as secure to me. If it offered a warp-free guarantee I'd set my snaps in it anyway but it just doesn't. SO. Nylon? ABS? Worry more? Thoughts welcome, and thank you all in advance. On a happier note, I've been customizing my armor storage tote. Cart before the horse, my eye. WIP pic below. Those are tiny Imperial cogs, yes. My first neck seal attempt has proven to be an excellent learning experience. The biggest lesson is that you need to build in much more width than you thought you'd need because you're essentially accounting for the outer circumference, not the inner, and when it's this thick it can get pretty tight. However it looks incredible, if I do say so myself, and I will now be pursuing a similar rib style with entirely different and hopefully less nightmarish construction and closure techniques. Let's leave it at that.

  30. Yoke, chest and abs are magneted. Soft terry cloth like material fabric glued inside the chest. I think the yoke needs a trim. It fits on easily but I can’t take it off myself with out stressing the plastic too much. I’ve glued on the greeblie snaps Unfortunately the biceps shadow for the clips looks like crap so I’ve had to make it up with tamiya epoxy putty and spot filler. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  34. Starting Assembly It's been a busy few months at work, but I was feeling depressed at the lack of progress on my armor, so I decided to sneak in a few hours work last month. Like my OTTK, I decided to start on the biceps. As mentioned before, they are simply massive on me, so I broke out my trusty heat gun and reshaped the right bicep to bring the circumference way down. Here's a comparison photo of the original left bicep, and the heat-reshaped right bicep: And a test fit with the gaskets: Finally, just to say that I glued *something*, I glued the shoulder bell extensions and an inside cover strip on the resized bicep. I also trimmed down the bicep overlap so that the unglued edges below meet in a butt joint, which I'll eventually fill. Aaaaand that's all I've got so far. We are actually moving next week, so I don't think I'll be able to get much work done for a while. At this point, I'll be thrilled to finish this kit in 2018.

  35. Accessories Over the weeks, most of my major accessories have arrived: Belt from Belts of the First Order: Boots from Imperial Boots: And custom gaskets, neck seal, harness, and shorts from Geeky Pink: The extra neck seal is an OTTK neck seal that Teresa threw in when I very off-handedly mentioned that the neck seal she made me for my OTTK (which I troop in and love) is just a tad snug. Thank you, Teresa!!! I also ordered shoe lifts from Amazon because the smallest boots that IB makes are men's US 8 (I wear a men's 6 on a good day) so they are super roomy. With the boots, lifts, and helmet, I think I should come in at a TOWERING 5' 6"!!

  37. That reminds me I never showed the butt plate, I cut it to look like the Anovos one but apparantly was a little sloppy and made the center tab a bit small, it should be about the same as the outer ones as it helps adding snaps to either side of the kidney plate which will be cut along the seam, I can make it work but ..oh well.. And as the ab plate now is molded to fit taller people it dosen`t line up to the kidney plate, my guees to why that`s not altered too would be that the kidney is easier to shim hight-wise. Anyways...was gonna leave it but decided to cut it, it`s enough plastic with this torso Construction as it is and forgot to take a pic when done but just used some tape to make a straight-ish line and the cut..apparently didn`t learn any lessons to be more careful after the butt-debacle aslo removed that top lip from the kidney portion. Neat storage. except for forearms, one bicep and one shoulder bell (they`re not trimed yet) everything is in there, sort of like a Stormtrooper-bowl

  38. That happens a lot, James, so I wouldn't sweat it. As long as they have white paint on them (even if a bit has rubbed off) it's not a big deal.

  39. I personally would feel that this falls exactly in line with screen shots of screen used armor, and think that should be acceptable. But I will refer to @justjoseph63 or @ukswrath as they will be the ones to approve or deny due to this. I will say though that I can suggest if it worries you that much, let it be for now, then when you are going to take submission photos for approval/EIB/Centurion, lay down a coat of paint on them making them fresh for the photos. shouldn't hurt at all!
