  1. Eric @Tolo has been with FISD a long time, including stints as DCOG and most recently as DXO. As things happen, Eric's personal life has changed for a positive for him, but for us it meant that he couldn't do what he needed and stay on as DXO. Eric - Thank You! for all you've done for FISD and we wish you the best. Fortunately on FISD, we believe in staff development, e.g. taking on new people to staff roles, and then grooming them for higher office, either here on FISD or elsewhere in the Legion. Many former FISD staff have gone on to be GCO/GXOs, SLs, and DLs. Continuing in that fine tradition, Andrew @Sly11 has graciously agreed to step up in to the XO role. Many of you know him from his solid work as a Deployment Officer, which he as rocked. Please join me in congratulating Andrew for a promotion well deserved. With unquestioned loyalty, TK-8020 "Daetrin"

  2. Hi Dan welcome back for another EI review, this time of the ESB variety. Thank you for your application. Let's take a look. CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All the required submission photos have been posted. Beautiful job on your build. We don't see as many ESB apps as we would like applying for the higher levels .Your armor displays all necessary elements as set out in the level 2 CRL. Tony and I welcome you to EI trooper, congratulations. Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we review observations made by your fellow troopers and ourselves. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. If any suggestion affects any application, it will be listed separately in the above or below sections. We have nothing to add here. Centurion Suggestions: In this section we prepare you the best we can for Centurion. If there are any areas of concern they will be discussed here. At this stage, nothing stands out but things can be revealed with the extra images required for Centurion. Get that application in Dan, wonderful work, now head on out and continue to do the Legion proud

  3. Before I forget let me post my thermal detonator build. Here is the main piece before I cut far too much And the approximate measurements I went for on the length (122 mm) and width (95mm) of the panel I bought end caps and the tube from Trooperbay while I await replacement end caps from Walt. Trooperbay tube already comes gray with the stamped information of the tube on it. A bit of sanding with some 400 grit up to 1000 grit removed it and can not even tell I sanded. Plus I positioned the sanded portion towards my back so it would rarely be seen anyways. The clasps I got from UKswrath Version 2 so they have the screen accurate bend in them. Now just to paint the screws black

  5. Great work You don`t need a blaster on basic approval, only for higher levels so get those pics in and you could also take advantage of the pre-approval program we got here

  6. Sorry for being MIA for awhile, but don't mistake my lessened presence here for a lack of progress. In fact, I am pretty much finished with my armor aside from finishing touches here and there. To sum up: My belt has been placed using Chicago screws instead of snaps. I like how this provides a much more secure hold and will prevent any slipping while still allowing it to be removed if necessary. The two outer screws connect through the ab piece, while the center is only connected on the belt itself. Holster is also placed. Interior view of the screw connection: Drop boxes have also been placed. I have also wrapped up the gloves and added bicep hooks. Shin velcro closures have been placed as well but I forgot to take pictures. Last, I repaired my damaged thighs as best as I could with ABS paste. I think I will probably still get new ones to start from scratch eventually, but I am content with how they turned out for now. I'll try to get my fit perfected over the next couple days and then hope to submit for basic approval once I receive my E11 (supposed to ship by Friday)! Thanks for the help EVERYONE. I love being part of this community and am crossing my fingers for a TK ID soon. Y'all rock!

  7. The last week or so have been dedicated to finishing my thighs and forearms. After some helpful and timely guidance (thanks Greg and Ben), I finished trimming the back of the thighs and set some inner and outer cover strips. I’ve especially become a huge fan of inner cover strips. Thighs are done (except for the ammo pack) Forearms are also done, return edges completely gone:

  12. Currently working on cleaning up my paint. Made good use of a toothpick, Mineral Spirits even WD40. I have used a small amount of acetone on the end of a Qtip on stubborn areas. Everything is freehand painted with exception of the vent tubes. Those I used a template from Trooperbay.

  13. Glad I can help out. I know I have had a few of my OMG moments when I thought I ruined everything but glad I documented it. I mean we are not all master builders on our very first build. Welcome to the Family and looking forward to watching your build! Ask questions and know the only timeline you have is the one you impose on yourself!

  14. Don't know why it posted twice. Oh well. I found a pair of boots but I want to make sure they will reach centurion level. What do you guys think? Here is the link: https://www.imperialboots.com/product/421/ I do wear a wide shoe and they said it is a narrow fit. Will it pass centurion inspection?

  27. I realized that I forgot to paint those rivets after I took the pictures and the shoulders are due to my height. If I move them more forward, then they do not reach the back plate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  30. Hey Ignacio, thanks for you patience and your EIB application. Let's take a look. CRL and EIB Application Requirements: It appears all the required submission photos have been posted. Your armor displays and the required components for L2. Andrew and myself would like to welcome you to the rank of Expert Infantry . Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we review observations made by your fellow troopers and ourselves. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. If any suggestion affects any application, it will be listed separately in the above or below sections. We have a few areas to go over here so let's get to it. Taking a look at your helmet first, the tube stripes are to be roughly a #2 pencil width or 1/4" from the face. We're suggesting you reposition them to the correct location. Also, the ears appear to be thick. They should resemble the ears seen in the following reference photo. We're requesting you thin these out a bit if possible also. Reference photo Next up shoulder bells. There should be minimal gap between the shoulder Bells and Chest & Back plates. We're requesting you tighten the upper and lower connecting straps and possibly remove the lower bell return edge to draw them in closer to the chest and back plates. Reference photos. Continuing downward it looks like the shoulder plates were applied too far down the chest plate or the chest plate connections themselves are too long. This isn't a major issue but if you look at some reference photos you'll understand what were talking about. Reference photos The gap between your right forearm and bicep is considerably different than that of the left. We're recommending you correct this to look like the left side. Reference photo Moving down to the Ab section. The vertical Ab button plate we feel has too much material. It's extending out side the raised area beneath it when it should be inside it. Reference photo And Lastly your posterior plate needs to reside under the kidney plate and also be tucked in under your butt so the rivets are not as visible. Reference photo Centurion Suggestions: In this section we prepare you for Centurion. If there were any areas of concern they would be discussed here. We have a couple areas that will need to be resolved before applying for Centurion if you choose to do so. First is the waist belt drop box alignment. The drop boxes are to be aligned with the outer most edge of the ammo belt. It's recommended you glue or permanently fix the drop box connecting strap to the cloth belt to prevent them from moving around. CRL states: Level three certification (if applicable): Drop boxes are vertically aligned with the end of the ammo belt with minimal gap between belt and box. Reference photos The Thermal Detonator mounting screws should be pan head, your's appear to be domed. Re requesting you replace these with the correct screws. Level two certification (if applicable): Clips shall be attached with slotted, pan head style screws, and be black. Reference photo And lastly, the Cod rivet is incorrect and will need to be replaced. The CRL states: Level three certification (if applicable): A single split rivet or brad is present on the lower tab of the abdomen armor. It appears you used a pop rivet or similar which is not accepted at L3. We know this isn't a great reference photo and we do apologize. That's it, a little bit of work to do but it shouldn't take you too long. Congratulations again on your EI approval. Great job and hope to see you at Centurion. If you have any questions feel free to ask us or anyone here.

  31. Really nice job on that Anovos armor, Thor! Although it won't affect basic approval, I would suggest ditching the canvas belt that came with the kit. It is really flimsy, and I would pick up something a little more heavy duty. Doing this will also prevent the sag seen below, and give you a better overall appearance. Let us know when you get your official TK number!

  32. Should be easy pass for basic approval! Agreed with the other comments. Also looks like there is still some return edge at the wrist which you could remove not just for comfort, but for accuracy! Not a requirement though.

  33. Ah, sorry to hear that Daniel. I was getting excited for the FOTK - I was starting to think I was going to do the same. Here's hoping you can get some (all?) money back. I look forward to your FOTK build whenever it happens. Good luck!

  36. Don't you all worry I'm still working on my build just really slowed down. It was my intention to be approved by 5/4 but I opted to not rush and finish the last few items with more attention to detail. Still outstanding- Attach drop boxes (working on making them functional) Paint screws Clean up paint lines on bucket Fix some ABS on the shins due to slight warping with hot water bath Attach elastic between Bicep and Forearms (still deciding if necessary as it may be very hard to put it on as the biceps will be snapped to the bells

  38. Could I add a suggestion to your great info piece? When making magnet sachets, it's a really good idea to make sure that you've got polarity-correct pairs. An easy way to help identify magnet pairs is to assemble them using fabric with high-contrast colors. Kind of like this:

  39. Just a tip, not sure what you did with that forearm part, but don't chunk it. you may run into a situation where you need extra material (small parts) and don't have anything left. you might be able to use that forearm part for something, never know. But of course im the type that never throws anything away and end up with a ton of crap lol. but there has been times were I was like "man I need this (insert item)" and after 20 minutes in the garage found something I forgot I had. Keep up the hard work, and im sure part of that pep talk was about the right of passage as a TK to build your own armor. you will love it so much more when you finish. your blood, sweat, tears will be worked into that armor and you will wear it proudly!
