My take on the matter is that since it has been proven that the large tab on the rear is non-existing on the Movie-suits it should barely pass basic. Beeing Expert Infantry and having something that`s clearly not on the suit seem very odd to me. For sake of argument: having a total of ten teeth cut out is not approvable even though it can be found in the Movie so why should something that`s not on any suit be approvable? Just beacause some makers make them that way? They need to improve their molds and to help larger Troopers then just ad more smaller tabs. Think of it as to shiming the sides, you`re extending the part, not altering it.3 points

I finished up my pack. I am thinking about dyeing the alice pack to be a little darker though. Just like a Jedi to stab you in the back, pack.3 points

I have some WTF being shipped to me for a customer of mine. Really looking forward to working with this armor.2 points

I wish I was that much on anyones radar . I believe Christine brought it to his attention first and messaged me stating she was getting a newer pair. When I talked to Walt this morning he said he was already working on making the bells larger2 points

So Walt must be checking this build. Just posted that he needed to make a new master for the bell, and the new one is 1.5 inches deeper. If you want to get replacements, PM rocky.2 points

Major trimming is done, and with the wife being out of town on business I’m going to get a chance to focus on my build a bit more. first up is the gluing the cover strips on biceps: I’m also keen to get at the sniper knee plate. I’d like to get that challenging task behind me. My Imperial Boots shipping notification came via email, so I’ll be able to do some fitting with the shins when they arrive.2 points

Same issue on mine. If you ordered new ones, make sure to tell Rocky the issue so he can send you the best copy available.2 points

Just talked to Anovos. The kits haven't arrived stateside yet. Was also told I should be part of the first batches when they ship out, though.1 point

@Dainbrandr Try to reinforce the shoulder elastic with some stiffer fabric where the snap of the shoulder bell is located. This may prevent the elastic to move outward. Alternatively replace the shoulder elastic by a stronger elastic. Cheers Christian1 point

They look acceptable for approval, but I can't speak to the workmanship or comfort without actually having them in-hand. I'm automatically suspicious of vendors that use pictures of actual 501st members on their marketing/sales pages, especially uncredited and probably without the member's permission. That makes me weary of this. Why not go with a more vetted source like Imperial Boots or TK Boots? They are around that same price range.1 point

Looks awesome! Hos did you adjust the shoulder bells? I tried to shorten the elastic but it just pulled the white elastic further out making it visible and the bells didnt get closer:-)1 point

I got my neck seal and holster from Darman (Darman's Props on FB I believe). I had to modify the bib a bit, but the neck part is the tricky part to sew and they did a nice job. Check the threads for ongoing sales. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

There are those that would suggest every aspect of the armor should be canon. That's not what the FISD is about thank goodness. Yes we want troopers to look as accurate as possible however, making it realistic to do so is just as important .1 point

MUCH better . Remove more return edge as needed for comfort. Also, don't forget to trim the cover strips, they're not to extend past the upper and lower return edges. Copy1 point

Well I stand corrected, my bad. Well one less thing to "fix". Thanks for correcting me on that!1 point

I hope soon..... lol being naked is getting boring. Lol i need the rest of the armor lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Just a tip, not sure what you did with that forearm part, but don't chunk it. you may run into a situation where you need extra material (small parts) and don't have anything left. you might be able to use that forearm part for something, never know. But of course im the type that never throws anything away and end up with a ton of crap lol. but there has been times were I was like "man I need this (insert item)" and after 20 minutes in the garage found something I forgot I had. Keep up the hard work, and im sure part of that pep talk was about the right of passage as a TK to build your own armor. you will love it so much more when you finish. your blood, sweat, tears will be worked into that armor and you will wear it proudly!1 point

Yup, keep the elastic taught enough to hold the bicep in place, but it does, need to be squeezy tight. Nice recover on the vocoder. Ensure you leave enough room at the bottom of your shins so they have room to move when you walk without splitting apart. Looking good trooper!1 point

I glued mine so they were just barely taught. If they are too loose your shoulder bells might flare out a bit. Use E6000 and all is good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Thank you both! That is what I thought but wanted that extra peace of mind. Coorections should be completed by weeks end if all goes well1 point

So my only concern here is if you trimmed it back far enough to remove the pull marks then it might not leave enough material rendering the bell too small. If you have a small enough body frame you might be able to get away with it.1 point

Hiya, A little tip - if you get a lighter and carefully, and very briefly, run the flame over the cut edge, it will slightly melt it and stop the frayed edges. There’s an example here at around 30 seconds. Dan1 point

And for my 10,000 post (Andrew is going to love this one) PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Shoulder Armor CRL update Let's add a L2 section - "There should be minimal gap between the Shoulder armor and the Chest and Back plates" Hopefully this will inspire people to reduce and help alleviate the dreaded shoulder bell gap issue.1 point
-
The original shoulder straps have a large tab at the front of them and a smaller one at the back. Most replicas have large tabs on both sides that is not accurate and looks better if removed. You will see on all the ANH suits that the straps have about a 5mm border on the sides but none on the front.1 point

Okay... I talked to my pal Shawn Morgsn tonight and apparently he expresses a huge “need” for one of these guns. So I guess I am doing the run. I’ll pull the tote out and get it ready to mold. Thank Shawn Morgan for that tad bit of twisting my arm.1 point
