As many of you know, the 501st elections have come to a close. The FISD membership has spoken. Congratulations to our 2018 FISD Detachment Leader Paul (Daetrin)!!!!9 points

More audio testing today. Everything seemed fine until I put my armour on. There is a fair amount of static coming through the speaker as the electronics gets close to my body. In particular, my phone. Weird. My IS people always told me that my crappy computer performance was my fault - like I had a magnetic field around me that messed up electronics. I assumed they were either crazy or lazy. Anyway, it took some tweaking but I have the static reduced. The next thing was the fan noise coming through the mic. Turns out the arm of the mic picks up sound better than the mic itself. So I had to wrap foam around the entire mic. The whole set up (before I wrapped the mic in foam). I need to figure out the wiring so I can actually get dressed and have everything plugged in. Oh, here comes my one-year-old daughter. Time to pack this mess up. She has a x-wing and not afraid to use it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

I am sorry to hear of your troubles. This is already an expensive endeavor, but to be treated like this and possibly lose money is unacceptable. I hope you find satisfaction.2 points

I’ve been following your build log for awhile. Super excited to see this kit come together2 points

I would glue a small scrap piece of ABS behind just to give it some strength and prevent it from cracking further. At least it's once of those areas where it will be hardly noticeable, only by you and of course all of us1 point

Not to worry, like Frank said it’s not a bad cut but I would leave it for know as you probably will trim the return some more in order to get the bells close to the sides of the chest and backplate, in other words to get the biceps to sit further in the bells1 point

You could probably glue it from behind and clamp it. That’s not a bad cut. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

This version of the Anovos Helmet does not have excessive overspray but actually has too little paint around the gum line. Here is a shot of the teeth before and after:1 point

Well I went for it. Started to make my return edge on the top of the butt plate. But the butt plate on the jig and a few boxes to hold up the other end. I found working on the kit from this angle was much easier than the scrap as the part I wanted to bend was in front of me and pusing down. Starting in the middle I put the edge of the sealing iron on the line I drew and allowed it to heat up than gently and slowly rolled the sealing iron down over the jig to bend the ABS into my return edge. The sealing iron did leave a few edges that I will sand out to give it a smooth appearance. I started with 120 grit sand paper and wet sanded the edge as I had originally have a very sharp 90 degree and I wanted it to have a more rounded appearance. I will be working up with sand paper to 2000 grit wet sanding along the way to give it a great luster. Overall much easier than I thought it would be to make the return edge. Next up the kidney plate!1 point

Oh, just noticed you posted this here too, hahah. Anyway, what I wrote in the other thread: Hi Jenny, will follow your thread here as well as on CCG forums! To keep cut lines straight, I used a long metal ruler and clamps! Andy likely shared quite a bit of info with you, but please don't be afraid to post about any questions you might have!1 point

Thanks, I’ll let you know what happens. Had the wife take a ton of pics yesterday so I’m ready to go for March. Now I’m just wondering who gets the pics, this whole election thing is confusing partly cause I’m not involved in anything. If I get kicked for something stupid I’m driving to your house and getting them taken by a pro. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Looks like some great research and preparation prior to your build - that's wonderful to see. With bookshelf-Yoda and the FISD gang here to help, you'll do great. Best wishes, Dan1 point

Looks like you are well on your way and have done your homework. Love that pic of everything rough taped up. If you want/need a stiffer belt there is a guy on here who sells them... but the Anovos belts look a lot better than they used to.1 point

Hey Giles Looks like you came prepared but how on earth could you resist opening the boxes?! Great to hear you aim for Centurion - be all you can be Trooper So...like Greg mentioned, looks like the torso (back/front) can come up more and that would help with the gap you have now and also pushing the back closer to your body and for the plastic digging into the shoulders they might need som shaping/bending (see Tony`s thread) and...hard to tell for sure but it looks like you have your shins reversed, the shorter swoop goes on the inside (to conform to the muscle) easy fix in the tape-stage just swapping the sniper knee Also...how wide are the ridges on the thighs? Would a 20-22mm cover strip hide them? And finally, wrist end of forearms there can be no return edge for Centurion and as a bonus it`s much more comfortable Overall great progress - keep it up Trooper1 point

FYI, now that I'm re-elected for 2018, I can promise that these ideas are not going to sit idle. I'm still catching up on a few things, but FO TK is a huge goal for this year.1 point

Welcome and glad to see another new builder out there! Take your time and don't rush into anything and cut slowly and with intent. As far as your back pieces, you want minimal gap between pieces — so while you're getting that all fit out, make sure that your strapping in the back is set so that you have minimal gaps and then the shoulder strapping will be dictated by how your front and back are strapped together.1 point

Great to see, good luck with the build, remember measure twice and cut once, good luck1 point

I have a patch maker, that does patch runs with minimum orders of 50. Price is 3-5$ per patch and great quality (most of our garrison patches are made there!) I'd be willing to make a small run if there's a design and the DL approves1 point

Made my first real cuts for sizing, other than cutting off the vacuum form edges. Biceps and forearms are ready for gluing (clamps here are just holding the strips on - they aren't glued yet). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Always cool to see my 3D parts being used on a quality build. Looks like you're really going for it!1 point

Thank you Daniel! It is reassuring that I haven't mucked it up...yet Although I have ultimately decided to make it more equal halves. I removed the coverstrip on one side and trimmed a small amount from the lower half to make the havles more equal. Once the E6000 is fully cured I'll get some better pics up. Test fitting with the one side taped together after trimming resulted in a slightly more snug forearm but still fits and feels good.1 point

Thanks for the Offer. I managed to get to an armor party today and tried on a friend's pair of size 46 (Imperialboots.com) which fitted for width (just) so will go with a new pair of those as I know they'll fit.1 point

try not to discard any of the cut plastic, especially the ABS filings and small pieces. You can make ABS paste with acetone as a method to fix mistakes. And the color of the paste should match your armor.1 point

So I was looking over my right forearm and noticed that I do not have my halves symmetrical.....will this be an issue for level 3 approval? Do the cover strips need to be parallel?? Wrist Side Elbow Side1 point

For those that have not seen, our DL has given the green light to a FO version FISD patch and it is in the merch queue https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/40583-official-detachment-logo-variation-proposal/1 point

Weren't able to have an option like this for adding EI or Centurion? DENIED Many own both OT and FO, be nice if we can represent both Just my 2 cents1 point

Since each shirt is bespoke anyway (e.g. you have a custom name), why not make the left sleeve either OT or FO TK?1 point

If anybody was wondering I have put some videos up with more to come, armour building with tk1636. I am trying to finish this kit without having to use bondo or paint, so hopefully I can get away without doing either.1 point

That is why I was thinking: - FISD Patch (official, shield w/ ANH logo version), always available - Red version, FOTK, (red FOTK?) available 'sometimes' - Special patch runs (round logo, Phasma, ROTJ, etc.) as limited runs Something along those lines.1 point
