I goofed and damaged my completed bucket
CableGuy replied to Poseidon's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Nice job on the repair. :-) +1 for a little trim on the ears, btw. ;-) -
I’d agree with my fellow Daniel. ;-) From the RS gallery: Wonderfully wonky. :-)

Hiya, Reshaping the parts in hot water should only be used if there is a specific part where you need to adjust the shape. Most armour is made to the right shape in the first place so won’t require a hot water bath. If you find a specific area that isn’t quite fitting you correctly, post it up and we’ll advise ref hot water bath, if required. :-)

Dmorja: new adventure starts
CableGuy replied to Dmorja's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Coming on nicely. :-) Just a few things that stood out to me. The sniper knee is leaning forward quite a bit. Ideally, the sniper knee follows the line of the shin ridge: As below, bringing your shoulder bells closer to your chest, and raising the belt to just touching the ab buttons, will be simple changes that will really increase the look of your kit. Also, you mentioned the left shin - it doesn’t seem to taper down as one would expect. Don’t forget to paint your thigh ammo pack fixings white: Going back to your left shin/calve, it seems to be leaning. Not sure if this is a dressing issue or if the cut lines are off? The cover strips should also stop at the ridge; Also at the back, your hair is clearly visible under your lid. A balaclava will solve that. Personally, I’d still try to fit some tabs to sort the butt issue. It looks like it’s overlapping the kidney and dying to ride higher. Clearance is in reach. Keep up the good work. Dan -
Hi Patrick, That sort of gap should be okay for basic clearance (subject to the rest of the suit meeting the requirements etc). If you’re aiming for EIB then you would need to shim. CRL - EIB: “Any gap between the abdomen and kidney armor is no more than 1/2" (12.5mm) wide.” I noticed a couple of other things from your pictures. Your smaller ab buttons are currently too large and include all of the return edge. That whole return edge should be removed, as per reference pic below. Your waist ammo belt has a lot of excess above and below the boxes: ANH reference. To my eye, it also looks like it will be a little long once you add the 3 square buttons. Do you have a WIP (work in progress) thread running to track your progress? Best wishes Dan

Lorelei's 5'4" ATA ANH-S Centurion-Hopeful Build
CableGuy replied to TheLorelei's topic in ANH Build Threads
Hiya. Nice progress. :-) Just a couple of things, although it might be the lighting on a couple. You mentioned possibly over trimming the side of the chest. To me, it looks like you have lots more that could be trimmed off for more screen accuracy: I’ve also marked on this what looks like a molded cut-line (?) Ref It looks like there are more cut-lines on the top of the kidney plate: Again, might just be the lighting but thought I’d mention it, just in case. :-) -
Well done, Aaron. :-)

Beautiful work so far. Really nicely documented, too.

TK 95970 ANH Stunt requesting EIB (Anovos) [853]
CableGuy replied to Rat's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Did someone say tubestripes....? -
Hi Jeff, I’ve been following your progress on FB too. Looking at these pics, I think those magnets might be part of the issue. For this sort of project, they look very lightweight. You need nice strong magnets to hold the coverstrips down whilst the glue is curing. Personally, I didn’t use inner coverstrips on my build and all is well after 10 troops. So, whilst it is certainly an option, I wouldn’t say that it will necessarily solve the problem - strong magnets are a must to ensure a strong bond. Mine were approx 10mm x 20mm. Here’s a video of my armor maker doing the thighs and shins. I’ve shared similar videos before as they worked for me but I’m not saying it’s the only way to do it. Just a suggested option. Hope that helps a little. Dan

RS propmasters ANH armor paint color?
CableGuy replied to Shooter762's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Shouldn’t need to paint it, Paul. Assuming you used white abs paste. Have you checked out other ABS paste repairs in other threads? Got any pictures? -
RS propmasters ANH armor paint color?
CableGuy replied to Shooter762's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Hi Paul, RS Propmasters don’t usually paint the lids or armour. They supply it as white plastic. The original screen used armour was also white plastic - only the original stunt helmets were painted. Perhaps you could post some pictures of the damage and we can see what suggestions we could make. Best wishes Dan -
Ah right. Could be an option if you find those things an issue later in your build. Personally, I don’t think you’ll need it for most of your build. Well fitted armour with a good strapping system will sit nicely on the wearer. If you do find any areas that are an issue, a well positioned tactical pad or soft foam would be more controllable than expanding foam. :-)

What would you use it for?

Ensi's ANH Stunt Build [ATA] With Centurion in mind!
CableGuy replied to Ensi's topic in ANH Build Threads
Great news, Daniel. Well done!! :-) -
Nice progress, James. That’s an interesting project with the R1 lid. As as been said above, you’ll be better to use your new AM lid when it arrives due to the many differences between R1 lids and ANH. Note specifically the eyes, frown, vocoder, brow, ears to name a few. Chances are, the colour of both will vary, too. You R1 lid is still an interesting project though. Look forward to seeing how it turns out. :-)

Hi Rob, and thank you for your EIB application. Let's cut to the good stuff... CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All the required submission photos have been posted. You've made a great job of your build and we are pleased to inform you that your armour meets the requirements for level 2, Expert Infantry. Very well done. Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we review observations made by your fellow troopers and ourselves. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. If any suggestion affects any application it will be listed separately in the above or below sections. Let's start from the top. Your left shoulder bell looks like it could come in a little tighter, just like your right bell. Shortening the shoulder bell elastic should help with this. Also in the same picture, we'd suggest evening out the gaps between the biceps and forearms. Neither is correct or incorrect, as such, they just want to be the same gap each side. Reference: Whilst it is minimal, we would suggest keeping an eye on your back/kidney gap as you head towards Centurion. Keeping the gap nice and even, and as close as possible. At the moment, your thermal detonator clips are quite long and possibly showing below your belt. They are also not quite sitting right at the top of the belt in the below pictures. We would suggest checking the length of your clips. The butt plate should sit nicely under the kidney plate. Tightening the strapping in this area might help to keep the pieces closer together. A few areas of your armor appear to be a little jagged and could cause damage to your undersuit or other armor parts, including the butt plate and thigh ammo pack. A little sanding here and there would easily solve this. A very simple dressing issue here, and that's just to watch the alignment of your shins and thighs. Centurion Suggestions: In this section we prepare you the best we can for Centurion. If there are any areas of concern they will be discussed here. Based on the pictures provided, it looks like you are on track for a straight forward Centurion application, should you choose to apply for it. Congratulations Rob - welcome to the ranks of EI.

Chrisco27 Requesting Pre Approval Review (RS)
CableGuy replied to chrisco27's topic in Request TK Pre-Approval
Lovely job. Really well fitted, especially as a taller trooper. Agree with the others. Some simple changes and you’re on the right track to EIB and Centurion. :-) -
Hi Taylor, Great that you’ve got a second pair of hands help out here and there. You’re making really good progress. :-) Next time you try taping bits together, perhaps try taping the ab and kidney lined up together. This will give you a central shell to work up and down from. Example With these two parts lined up, you can then start looking at how to adapt the butt, back and chest plates to work around this central point. :-)

Excellent pics, sir. Looking mighty fine! :-)
