  1. Great news, Brian. Look forward to seeing your build. :-) Dan
  2. Hiya Wrist end of the forearm is the only place where the return edge MUST be removed for L3. The rest is pretty much down to personal preference. Personally, I like the look of screen used armour so the FISD gallery is the place to go for that. Here’s a couple of examples; :-)
  3. Wow!! You really do wear your armour well!! Beautifully fitted. :-)
  4. Look like you’re making really good progress, Jared :-) Just a couple of things, if I may. It looks like you have a Stunt helmet but a hero belt. Hero belts have 4 holster fixings, whereas Stunt has 2 fixings. If this is the case, removing two of the fixing and filling the holes could be advisable. I’ve seen a few belts with filled holes before so it’s possibly. Also, do you have any closer photos of your left forearm? It looks like it might be a little misaligned. If you’ve used E-6000, this should be a relatively easy fix. As above, it looks like you might be able to move the inner section down a little to line up the elbow and wrist ends. :-) Best wishes Dan
  5. Hiya, Good question. Might be worth posting this question over on the BlastFX Facebook page as well. I’ve seen many modded E-11s there so you’ll get some sound advice. There seems to be a few SDS Blasters being fitted with BlastFX. However, whilst the kit fits well into this blaster, by the seem of it, just take a close look at the SDS before committing to it. There are quite a few areas that differ quite a bit from screen used, such as the muzzle, front sight, t-tracks, scope rail, power cylinders, magazine etc. A pipe build could be a consideration. Or, if you fancy a REAL masterpiece, check out the blaster kit offered by Chris “Fieldmarshal” here on FISD, Facebook or Ebay. His blaster is stunning!!
  6. Ouch! ;-) Some screen used troopers looked a bit like this, to be honest. However, as the CRL is based around an idealised look so steers away from this type of look. Keep up the good work, Chris :-)
  7. Awesome job!! Nicely done. :-)
  8. I’d second Chris for the above reasons. :-) Dan
  9. Hiya. Here’s a video from Ross of RWA; 1.5mm is a popular choice with many (including me). It’s nice to cut when you’re building your armour and is relatively flexible to wear. 2mm acrylic capped is more shiny/glossy and is less likely to suffer from UV damage. However, to my eye, non-capped is more accurate to the originals. I haven’t seen many armour parties publicly listed on the UKG forum. It might be worth you signing up and introducing yourself, then you’ll see if other troopers are in your area. PM me if you need any help with that. :-)
  10. Good work, Dave. Making solid progress. :-) Something worth looking at is the amount of excess plastic above and below the ammo packs on the belt. As below, you could easily get away with losing a few mm, if you wanted too. :-) Dan
  11. Hiya. Probably within a week to get confirmation of your number. Regarding an induction, you should now have access to the “events” part of the UKG forum. Look for the troops with “induction” marked in the header as there are quite a few throughout the year. If you’re happy to travel, MCM London in May is an EPIC event and is also usually an induction troop. :-) Dan
  12. Looking good, bud. It’ll all sit even better once the strapping starts to go it. :-) Feeling like a Stormtrooper yet? ;-)
  13. I’m with Neb on the order. However, whatever works best for you, really. Here’s my method. The video is pretty old (before my first troop), but you get the idea. :-)
  14. Hi Jake, Good choice with RWA. I’d suggest posting this question on the RWA Facebook page. I’m 100% sure you’ll get responses from a range of shorter and taller troopers (including photos of them in kit). Personally, I don’t think you’ll have an issue at 5’8”. I know shorter troopers that can pull it off. I know of at least 8 RWA Centurions so it’s a very achievable goal. Any questions, let me know. :-) Best wishes Dan
  15. Good start, James. Whilst it’s a tricky kit to work with, it looks like you’ve made a good start. Something that I believe will hold you up from the higher levels that you’re aiming for, ie EIB and Centurion, is that you’ve sealed the ears to the lid. These should be separate pieces. You could also afford to trim them down quite a bit. Here’s some reference pics with suggested trim lines. This is likely to become a roadblock, possibly even at basic level. Might be worth checking with your GML about that. Paint work looks good. Keep up the good work. :-)
  16. Hiya, The doopydoos kit is really good and will be fine for clearance (if done correctly). If you DID want to upgraded some bits, it’s very rewarding. The magazine is the most inaccurate part as it is very small. If you were looking to upgrade this a bit, that’s where I’d out a few dollars. Here’s the doopy’s mag versus a more accurate one. The bottom pic is a resin mag from Imperial Warfighters (UK). Keep up the great work. :-) Dan
  17. Excellent news!!! Welcome to the 501st and the UKG. Hopefully troop with you in the future. :-) Dan
  18. Hi mate. No, shouldn’t affect clearance, just a personal choice really. If you choose to apply for EIB and Centurion, these will likely be mentioned as the screen used suits had less return edge - although, it’s not technically in the CRL so would more likely be a “suggestion”. If you watch the opening scene of ANH, you’ll notice that the armour still looks amazing even with the slightly shallower return edge. See how it goes, bud. Not long til you can get out there and troop. [emoji1303][emoji1303]
  19. Hi Linz, Looking good. Apart from the arms being on the wrong arms (doh, lol), I’d just highlight some of the return edges on the limbs. It looks like you have a lot of return edge on the lower thighs (near knees), top of shins, and also around the ankle - the ankle usually has zero return edge. Whilst this probably won’t affect approval, it might get mentioned if you apply for the higher levels. It might also be uncomfortable. Here’s a couple of examples. Best of luck with clearance. :-)
  20. Hi J, Great to hear you’re starting your journey. :-) A great place to see the various types of armor at their best is the Expert Infantry and Centurion applications (https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/113-advanced-tactics/). You’ll see many armor makers as well as various size and shape troopers. For examples of how kits are put together, check out the work in progress threads. For example, ANH builds here; https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/80-anh-build-threads/. Once your armour arrives, you’d be advised to start your own thread and we can give advise specific to you. Best wishes for your trooper journey. Dan
  21. Haha. You won’t regret it. I’m a TRamp too and it’s been faultless for me. Really chuffed for you. Getting clearance is a super exciting day. :-)
  22. Hey bud, You’ll be applying for clearance through your UKG WIP. The guys will advise on applying for your TKID. That part is done at 501st.com but requires UKG approving your costume. Once you are UKG cleared and get your TKID, you can request your FISD Trooper status here; https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/16-501st-trooper-status-requests-include-link-to-your-501st-profile-in-your-request/?do=getNewComment Hope that helps a little. Exciting times. :-) Dan
  23. That’s really cool!! Nice work. :-)
  24. Hi Simon, Nice progress. :-) Aside from looking at the screen used suits for fitment, this video that Ross made is very helpful.
