  1. Monday bump for new recruits.
  2. Hehe. I still wear my unofficial badge with pride! Lol :-)
  3. Looking great, Dave. :-) If you’ve gone for the “Hand painted” style, here’s a handy tip; https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/44755-tube-stripes-anh-stunt-dave-m/
  4. Dude, if you’re on the fence, just save a little longer and avoid the risk. If the reports that he ripped off 501st members is true, it’s more of a moral reason not to purchase from here. Perhaps explaining why he’s quitting.
  5. Fair enough. I wish you luck with your purchase. :-)
  6. As others have said, it’s totally up to you if you want to gamble or not - we can only point you to information provided by the FISD community. Regarding budget, I’ve always said to people, if the budget is a concern, just save a little longer to get something that you’ll be happy with for years to come. If it takes an extra month or two to get an awesome kit, personally, I’d say that’s well worth the wait. :-)
  7. Fieldmarshal sells on EBay and his E-11 kits are AMAZING!!!! I don’t think you could go wrong with that one. Haven’t seen any others to comment on, really. Do you have any Ebay links for ones you’re looking at?
  8. The doopydoos one will be fine for Centurion. In fact, the whole kit is fine for Centurion if done correctly. The areas that are often upgraded are the magazine (DD one is tiny) and the D-ring on the back. These might be mentioned at centurion level as suggested upgrades. :-)
  9. Nice work, Jake. :-) Front scope doesn’t look that bad. Good recovery. In an ideal work, the hex bolt in the bottom of the grip would be pretty much flush with the grip itself. Looks like you could go another 3mm or so to level it off.
  10. Looking good, Trooper. Looks like basic will be quite straight forward for you. :-)
  11. Let’s call in some of our Aussie brothers... @gmrhodes13, @Sly11 :-)
  12. SDS Battle Spec, by the looks of it.
  13. With SO many great vetted armour makers out there, I personally wouldn’t even entertain taking the risk. But, each to their own. Have you spoken with your local Garrison for advise? Dan
  14. I’m 99% sure he’s a known recaster; https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/19329-where-what-and-whom-to-avoid-when-buying/ Personally, I’d avoid and look at the vetted sellers list :-) https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/ Dan
  15. Great stuff. Meeting with other garrison members will be a big step, I’m sure. You’ll be all sorted before you know it. :-)
  16. Hi Dave, As per one of my earlier posts, were not here to bash certain armour kits. When prospective TKs ask for advise on kits, we try to steer them to the most accurate kits within certain price brackets. As a few have said, sadly SDS tend to be higher price for lesser quality. However, now that you have bought the kit, and are happy with it, try to enjoy the ride. Don’t dwell on things you’ve read on the forum. :-) In all honesty, many of us that have been passionate, or borderline obsessive, with the original trilogy stormtroopers for some time could list and show the issues with each and every kit available, including, and specifically, SDS, however, you’ve bought it now so it would be unkind of us to do so. As you said you can’t see the differences, us highlighting them would only tarnish your view of your kit. All we can do is try to help you with your build, if you would like us to. Regarding the forum, you and Frank have a point to a degree. However, forums are full of content but we don’t all have to read it. If a thread has lots of ‘to and fro’ just do as the sandtroopers suggest and “move along”. Lol
  17. Hi Derek, Are you using the Imgur App or a desktop computer? Best wishes Dan
  18. Hiya, Here’s a good link ref imgur. :-) https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/42381-howto-post-images-in-threads-using-imgur-easy/ Best wishes Dan
  19. Hi Jayson, Looking good. Do you have your own WIP thread for people to give feedback? If not, you could post pics of your armour in this section: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/193-request-tk-pre-approval/ Best wishes Dan
  20. Hi Michael, My thought for the red line on the bottom plate was just to reduce the overall height of the butt plate. If the sides match up, it will probably be better to leave it at the sides. Is your butt plate correctly overlapping the kidney? Not easy to tell here but I think it might be? If so. It should be possible to have the kidney and butt touching at the back without upsetting the side alignment of the ab and kidney. It’s possible that your ab plate could drop by an inch or so. Once there’s a strap from the cod to the butt, that should hold things in place. :-) For the butt plate, just follow screen reference butt plates to gauge the ideal shape (if you choose to trim any parts, that’s is). :-) Dan
  21. Hiya, Honestly, I wouldn’t choose SDS myself due to the quality of the moulds; however, if it looks good to you when you look at it, and it fitted your budget and your delivery needs, then you’re all set. As you now have the armour, I’d probably leave the ifs and buts behind and make the best of what you have. If you do choose to join the 501st with this armour, check with your local Garrison for what changes they might need for basic, then check out the EIB and Centurion applications for this armour. Best of luck in your journey. Dan
  22. Spot on advise, Daniel. :-) Michael, just to clarify, my suggestions were relating to your comments of the oversize and the alignment. They’re not required changes. :-)
  23. Hi Michael, Firstly, you’re documenting this well so keep up the good work. I can see that responses are a little thin on the ground at the moment and, to be honest, I would imagine that it’s because many of us are not overly familiar with the FX armour these days. I would put myself in this category so please don’t go cutting your armour just based on the below. To my eye, it looks like you could possibly lose approx an inch from the bottom of the butt plate. This would allow it to come down by that inch, allowing more room for the kidney. The back plate, as you mentioned, is quite oversized. Again, perhaps an inch could be lost from the bottom of it. From the front, I wonder if you could potentially lose and inch or so from the neck and shoulder tabs? This would allow the chest to lift up by an inch and give a little more room over the ab. Otherwise, leaving as it might be okay. Perhaps check with your Garrison’s GML regarding basic approval. :-)
  24. Hi Tennant, I hope you are well. I'm gutted to see that your image links have gone. I can no longer drool over your amazing blaster. :-( Best wishes, Dan
  25. Personally, I’d say avoid. You can do a lot better for your money with some of the vetted sellers. https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/
