Linz AM ANH build thread WIP
CableGuy replied to Linz's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Thanks for the heads up, Mr P. :-) Linz, I’ll pop you a PM. :-) -
Nice progress, Jake. When you switch to a slotted screw for the grip, be sure to position it in the “lock” position (not free). See below; Example Keep up the good work. :-) Dan

CableGuy replied to Boba IT's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Well done, Fabio. Excellent work. :-) -
Billgrams - the one stop shop
CableGuy replied to themaninthesuitcase's topic in Tutorials, Tips and HOWTOs
If there’s no space for it, best to leave it. I guess you’re aware that FX sadly cannot be used for Centurion so probably best to aim for EI level with it. :-) -
Billgrams - the one stop shop

It depends on the armor maker, really. It should ideally line up with the butt plate; Depending on the design/accuracy of the armour, this could vary. :-) -
Looking great, Scott. How did you first troop go? Enjoy it?? :-) Just as you mentioned feedback, aside from the thighs that you mentioned, you could consider shorting the TD clips - at the moment, they protrude some what below your canvas belt; This is an ANH reference but you get the gist. :-)

Haha - no worries, Brian. Happy to help. [emoji482]

Lid is looking nice. :-) Do you have any pics in slightly better light? It’s a little hard to make out certain details with the shadows. I’m thinking of the frown paint which could be extended to a point beyond the un-drilled 5th hole. Examples below; Regarding the forearms, I’d only suggest cutting them down if you really need to do so. Most armour have correctly sized forearms so you might not need to cut the length down. As per the picture below, there is zero return edge at the wrist end; Screen used suits had very minimal return edge at the elbow, as seen below; When you can, get some pictures of your forearm armour posted and we’ll have a look. :-)

The CRL doesn’t specify this so, personally, I’d go with screen accuracy. Check out the gallery (or star wars helmets.com) and follow those. Here’s a few examples; As you’ll see, most of them were cut straight up and down rather than slanted. :-)

Fish's ANOVOS Build Thread - Aspiring for L3
CableGuy replied to fishgoh0nk's topic in ANH (Stunt and Hero)
Hi James, You could check out Bulldog Props. Brian is active here and makes great scopes. He makes ones suitable for electronics too. https://m.facebook.com/BulldogPropsJapan/ It’s such a shame that the air soft E-11 has the issues that it has. The basis of the blaster is pretty good - just looks like they guessed where the t-tracks and scope went. Once you e made those changes it’ll be a cracking little piece. :-) When you do get a new scope, remember that it wants to sit about 2 or 3 inches further forward. As below, the rear foot should align with the coach bolt for the folding stock. Keep up the good work, Dan :-) -
Those proposed CRL changes seem to be causing concern across builds at the moment - however, there is consideration paid to the CRL guidelines that a trooper was following at the time of their build. So, stick to the current CRL for now. If you have complete photos of your progress, or ideally a build thread, we’d be happy to look over it for you. Best wishes Dan

Looks great. Lovely drop box alignment. :-)

Shoulders are probably best to trim up once you have your arms and torso ready to wear. Then you can size them up. You want to keep the gap between the chest and shoulder bells to a minimum. Here’s what you’re aiming for. :-)

Chris's RS PropMasters ANH Stunt - 1st Build
CableGuy replied to ChrisC85's topic in ANH Build Threads
Hi Chris, Hmmm. It might be that the furthest out strapping from butt to kidney are not tight enough, however they seem to look okay. If the trooper butt remains an issue, you could consider shaping some ABS to glue to the butt plate, just below the return edge. If shaped and positioned correctly, this could prevent the butt from riding over the kidney. Here’s a rough idea of what I mean. -
Shoulder strap length question
CableGuy replied to tsongololo's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Okay, cool. In that case, I’d suggest taking the suggested pics and adding them to your WIP thread. From more angles we should be able to offer a bit of trimming or repositioning advice. I see that Cricket is watching your thread so you’re in good hands. :-) -
Chris's RS PropMasters ANH Stunt - 1st Build
CableGuy replied to ChrisC85's topic in ANH Build Threads
Hi Chris, Looking really good from the front! Great job! :-) Regarding the side view, you’re right that the alignment could be a little better. This is likely based on your internal strapping. As below, the ab plate and kidney should line up top and bottom; The butt should sit up against the lower part of the kidney, although they are prone to ride up if the strapping is not quite right. Do you have any pictures of your internal strapping, please? Best wishes Dan -
Hi Eric, I believe that there is usually consideration for how the CRL was when you started and we’re completing your build. Do you have a WIP thread running? Do you know which elements have changed? Best wishes Dan

Lovely work in the ab buttons. Very tidy paint work. [emoji1303] For the coverstrips, I’d just be careful not to exceed the armour parts with coverstrips. See below for approx where I’d cut the coverstrips. This is handy for appearance as well as to avoid coverstrips getting caught on other armour parts. :-)

Shoulder strap length question
CableGuy replied to tsongololo's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Hiya. Do you have any more pictures? Perhaps front and back, and with the armour on? Thanks in advance. Dan -
Excellent - great news. They’ll look after you. :-)
-
Nice work! That strapping is looking neat and tidy. For the ‘flappy butt’, you could consider and extra pair of connectors a little further out; Regarding the forums, if you’re looking to join the 501st then I’d personally suggest posting your progress on the UKG forum as early as you can. You’ll need UKG clearance to become a 501st member and the armourers are excellent. When you start your own WIP thread, only you and a UKG armourer is allowed to comment - this takes away the possibility of things going off-topic. Hope that helps a little. :-) Dan

Nice work, Simon. Looks like you’re fitting it really nicely to you. [emoji1303] When you get to the point of adding the shoulder bridges, you could possibly consider either shaping the top of the back plate of trimming them down slightly. Area highlighted below; Do you have any pics of the internal strapping? Might help to resolve the butt issue. Other than that, looking super thus far. :-) Out of interest, are you documenting this on the UKG forum too? Not sure I’ve seen it over there. Dan (Oh, just a little thing - it might be easier to post your pictures individually rather than collage. Makes it easier to zoom in on each one). ;-)

Are these boots any good?
CableGuy replied to Jakebullet's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Yep - the RS Propmasters boots are gorgeous. :-)
